Rainy Days
[ Starter with @soup-er-villain ]
Molly gripped the doorknob tightly. Martin had left her locked outside yet again, and the torrent of rain only made things worse.
Heâs forgotten so many times.. Youâd think he would realize one of his kids werenât there inside with him. The young girl shook her head slightly and knelt down. Where was the spare key again?
She pulled up the small mat and peeked under it. Hoping and begging that it was there. Another small sigh escaped from her lips; Of course it wasnât there. Why had she even bothered to check? Her âfatherâ obviously wouldnât have returned the key.
She stood up and bit back the urge to cry. When was this ever going to stop? Maybe she should find shelter elsewhere since Martin didnât seem too bothered.
As she turned to walk down the street, thoughts crowded into her mind like a swarm of hornets. Maybe he meant to do this. Maybe she did something to pique Martin.
Walking quickly transitioned to running. Molly didnât know where she was going, not even seeming to notice that her frantic steps were taking her in the direction of Giovanniâs home.
Giovanni was playing some games on his computer before he heard his mom shout for him.
âGIOVANNI! THEREâS A LITTLE GIRL AT THE DOOR FOR YOU!!!â
He was confused. Why would there be a little girl at the door, heâ
Oh crap it was probably Bear Trap.
âCOMING, MOM!!!!!â
Giovanni paused the game and ran to the door. He opened the door to see Molly.
âBear Trap! Geez, youâre dripping wet! Iâll get you a towel!â
He ran to the bathroom, and grabbed a towel. He immediately tried to dry her off, but there wasnât really any helping her clothes.
âOne second, let me go find something!â
He ran back to his room, grabbed some clothes and came back to Molly.
âHere, these are some of my clothes. Theyâre probably going to be really big on you, but at least you wonât be in those soaked clothes. Bathroom is down the hall and to the left, try not to drip too much or my momâs gonna get mad.â
She flinched upon hearing his mother shout; Shrugging off the slight ringing in her ears. Shouldnât pay attention to something as small as that.
Molly blinked up at Giovanni as he opened the door. As he spoke and left to grab a towel, she fiddled with the drenched straps on her bag. Maybe she shouldnât have bothered him. What if he was busy?
The contact with the towel jolted her back to reality. The small girl gave off a shudder. Molly would ruffle her hair slightly, nodding as he left again. She hugged the towel and looked around, taking off her boots and setting them by the door. Wouldnât want to track dirt inside the house.
She mumbled a quiet âthank youâ as Gio handed her the clothes. Sheâd make her way to the restroom and quickly clean herself up.
She peeked her head out as she opened the door, looking around the room. Here it was warm and cozy; Unlike the brash chill that accompanied the rain.
Giovanni yelled back down the hall towards Molly.
âCome to my room when youâre all dressed nâ stuff! Itâs upstairs, first door on the right!â
He went upstairs, and went back to playing his game. It looked like he was doing something intense, but really he was just terraforming in animal crossing and it was getting aggravating trying to get the corners right.
Molly let out a quiet yawn and walked up the stairs. She gently pushed the door to his room open.
âHey.. Thank you.â She smiled and sat down somewhere near him, looking around to examine his room. âSorry for kinda disturbing your evening by just showing up out of nowhere.â She intertwines her fingers together.
âBear Trap⌠you donât have to be sorry about that! You can see me anytime your dumb dad does something stupid.â
He smiled, and patted the spot next to him on the bed.
âIâm playing Animal Crossing, you wanna watch?â
His words seemed to have cheered her up a bit. At least she wasnât intruding, or at least think she was being a bother now.
Sheâd most likely forget about being locked outside again; Her memory seems to be just like her fatherâs, in a way. But things like being forgotten donât pass easily.
Molly nodded and sat down next to him, looking at his terraforming project. âWhat are you trying to make?â
âA waterfall fountain! Theyâre pretty.â
He runs somewhere else on the map.
âI already finished one over here, look!â
He smiles proudly.
âItâs my best work.â
She looks at the terraforming and smiles warmly. âIt looks nice. I think you did a great job!â
She had never played Animal Crossing; Even if she tried to make something like that, itâd end in disaster.
Molly isnât the best with coordination, after all.
âAnyways, I bet youâre a little bored⌠do you want me to play something cooler?â
He hit the save button, and quit the game. He hovered over PokĂŠmon for a second before opening it.
âIâm in the mood for some PokĂŠmon now anyways!â
Molly shrugged. âIâm fine with whatever you want to play. All of these sound interesting..!â
She never really had an opportunity to see these games; That must be why sheâs so fascinated. But either way, they had captivated her interest.
And here comes a blind question. â..Whatâs a PokĂŠmon?â
âWait, what? You donât know what PokĂŠmon is? Jeez, your dad mustâve been strict. Itâs basically this game where you catch creatures called PokĂŠmon that you can battle with! Theyâre your little fighting buddies. Thereâs a lot of different types of PokĂŠmon. My favorite type is the Fairy type!â
He opens up his save file, and goes to the âPokĂŠmonâ menu.
âHereâs my party! I have Shortcake the Alcremie, Acidius the InteleonâŚâ
He rambles about his party members. Theyâre his little babies!
She smiled as he continued to talk about the premise of PokĂŠmon. She glanced down at the small screen and let out a little squeal of contentment seeing them. âAww⌠Theyâre so cute..! That sounds really cool.â
She blinked, thinking about what he said about type. âWhat other types are there? If there are any.â
âYes! All the types are Fire, Water, Grass, Fighting, Flying, Ghost, Dark, Psychic, Rock, Ground, Fairy, Normal, Poison, and Bug!â
He selected a Scrafty.
âThis Scrafty is a dark and fighting type!â
He moved down to an Abra.
âThis Abra is only psychic type. Thereâs also a whole type matchup table! Some types are better than others! But that takes FOREVER to explain.â
âOh.. I see..!â The young girl nodded.
âThat sounds interesting. And confusing.â
She tilted her head; The small smile on her face started to grow. âAre there any bear ones?âÂ
âYeah, thereâs multiple bears!â
He opened up the âBoxesâ menu. This man had nearly a full living dex inside of the boxes. He went to the section of boxes for Jhoto PokĂŠmon.
âThis is Teddiursa and Ursaring. Theyâre normal types.â
He moved to the ones for Unova PokĂŠmon.
âThis is Cubchoo and Beartic! Those are the bear PokĂŠmon I can remember off the top of my head.â
He closed the menu.
Molly flapped her hands for a moment before stopping. She remembered with a pang; That annoys people.
Thatâs what Martin told her.
She pressed back a feeling of regret and smiled at Giovanni. âTheyâre really cool..! Iâm sure that theyâre strong too..â
âHey, wait, why did you stop the flappy thing?â
He looks over at her confused.
âI think I heard from Dr. Yo-Yo that that was a good thing?â
She perks up. âIt is..? I-I was told that it bothers people..â
A frown edged back onto her features. Shaking her head, she looks back up at him. âI didnât want to annoy you.â
âIt was your stupid dad, wasnât it? Whatever, do it all you like!â
He grins.
Mollyâs eyes light up as he speaks. She smiles and starts doing little hand flappies!Â
After a few moments, the young girl wraps her arms around him and pulls him into a gentle hug. âThank you!..â
âYouâre welcome, Bear Trap!â
He hugs her back, smiling.
The young girlâs smile widened as he hugged back. It had been a while since she actually had some form of comfort, so she embraced it excitedly.
 âI appreciate it, Boss.â
