that's not true. you start off physically sexless, and then you develop a sex. you are not first "female" or "male" or even intersex, you are just a clump of underdeveloped cells. we all start with both Mullerian and Wolffian ducts, and only after six weeks does the process of growing a sex and regressing the other of the ducts begin; this is as opposed to us all having Mullerian ducts that may or may not turn into Wolffian ducts. i believe this biological misunderstanding is behind at least some of the transandrophobic and sexist narrative that "trans men have an easier time passing than trans women inherently because estrogen is passive and weak, while testosterone is active and strong and makes permanent changes."

if you think everyone starts "female" and "biological maleness" is determined by how much testosterone you've ever been exposed to, it would make sense to believe that most trans men pass and most trans women don't. because you've now invented a world where all trans women can do is try to manage the symptoms of testosterone, while trans men's weak and infantile-level of physically impressionable bodies are being superpower overloaded with the magic irreversible damage drug.

but human pericis adult women are not biologically akin to tall human babies. they are not a "less evolved" or "rudimentary" state of human.

as trans people who have gone through both puberties, i was hoping you'd remember that you experienced permanent active growths both times (ex: boob and cock enlargement vs tcock and eboob enlargement), and that you experienced a "passive" suppression of some development both times as well (ex: not getting taller before your growth plates fuse and not developing wider hips vs stopping periods and stopping hair loss) [i color coded the examples blue for trans guys and pink for trans women to make it less confusing, i'm sorry it's not very inclusive.]

tl;dr: trans women's transitions are not entirely just "putting toothpaste back in the tube," just as trans men's transitions are not entirely just "squeezing the toothpaste out." both do both. there are a lot of tubes all doing a lot of different things.

bdbdbdbdmn: all that the moral of the story you sent proves is that you can't change someone's gender identity or how they wish to express themselves by forcing them to follow gender roles [<-aligning it with the values of the trans community]; that the mutilation of infant's (inherently unable to consent as they are babies) privates- both for religious purposes (circumcision) and/or due to intersexism (chopping up an intersex baby's bits to make them look less ambiguous/more like either a penis or vagina)- is wrong [<-aligning it with the values of the trans community]; and in my opinion, it also proves that gendered upbringing in general is unethical, sexist, and abusive [<-once again, aligning the conclusions you should have gotten from the article with the values of the trans community]. David's horrific experience is very similar to how trans men are raised, especially intersex trans men. trans people do not start feeling their gender after bottom surgery, so religious infant genital mutilation that accidentally results in penis loss would not disprove trans people if that penis amputee kid grew up to not want to get a vagina surgically attached. also, the brother that killed himself was the one that wasn't forcefully raised as a girl. are you stupid, or do you think i'm stupid?

still though, i never get the point of this one. "you claim i shouldn't force people born with penises to live how i consider masculine, so i forced someone who's penis was cut off to live as a girl and tried to get him to agree to childhood vagina surgery, and you're still mad??? you must just be a hypocrite!" there is no help for you at this point, i fear.

what's annoyed me most recently was this take he had about parents of trans kids. it was a whole long rant about how parents have The Right to be upset and grieve, Actually.

and while yes, everyone's feelings are always valid and thought crimes aren't real, the way he frames it is as if Big TransgenderTM has an Unfair Policy on this issue and Trans Kids These Days are Being Mean.

do trans people not also have the right to be upset that their parents are so upset with their transness; or to be dysphoric by constant reminders of how every second of every day of their lives, their parents have been waiting to do a wrongly gendered significant event with them? his example was parents wanting to see trans dudes in wedding dresses really really badly btw.

and lowkirkenuinely, the fact that the parents are even thinking like that in the first place is kinda The Problem and is transphobic/sexist/homophobic/ageist/etc.

and everyone is allowed to be uncomfortable with change, but your kid isn't evil if they don't want that to be their problem or if they also have their own feelings too.

imagine if it was about anything but trans people. if my hypothetical co-worker said his parents had to go through years of grief because he wanted to play baseball instead of soccer because they always dreamed he'd play for their favorite community college team, i would be horrified and disgusted. now add back in the political implications, and it should feel even worse to you.
