In the US, a personâs wheelchair is viewed legally as an extension of their body.
1. If you touch someoneâs wheelchair without their consent, that is Assault. In some states, this is automatically Aggravated Assault because the assault has been committed against a disabled person.
2. If you grab a someoneâs moving wheelchair to stop it, lean on their wheelchair making it jolt or tilt, climb over their wheelchair to get past it, or move their wheelchair because you think itâs in your way, you are risking injury to an obviously medically fragile person and that is Reckless Endangerment.
3. If you grab or hold onto a wheelchair, block it or in any other way prevent the person from leaving, that is Unlawful Detention or Unlawful Restraint.
4. If you start pushing a personâs wheelchair without their explicit consent, that is Abduction.
This is not a moral philosophy or an opinion. These are legal definitions. If you do any of these things, you are committing a crime for which you can be prosecuted and do jail time, and you will have a criminal record which will follow you for the rest of your life.
These same laws are applied in the same way to any mobility device including canes, walkers, and scooters. If you kick someoneâs cane, grab their walker, pull on the handlebars of their scooter or in any other way touch or manhandle someoneâs mobility device you are committing a crime for which you can be prosecuted and go to prison.

33 Questions White People Have For White People (X)
You all need to watch this, white people calling out white peopleâŚđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđ
âwe were white people running away from other white peopleâ
My countryâs literal revolution is happening right now but nobody cares bc itâs not impacting the US/Europe
Millions of people in the capital of Sudan (Khartoum) have gathered to protest the regime of the dictator President Omar Al Bashir who has been in power since 1993
People of all walks of life are protesting non violently and 60 have been killed since yesterday
Revolts have been going on for years and prior to this uprising children have been gunned down by the police for even being in the general vicinity of protesters. The state in my country is so bad that people in the army who have been told to stop the protests are joining in (including high ranking officers).
***quick fix: 60 people have been killed or seriously injured sorry for the misinformation y'all
PLEASE BOOST THIS
I had this girl in my class and she was considered to be like really dumb. Sheâd ask a ton of doubts and questions in class, which everybody would consider to be âstupid"and âsillyâ and even the teachers would often taunt her but sheâd never stop asking. But the thing was that sheâd almost always top the class examinations and everyone was like???? They all thought she was cheating and stuff and obviously even the teachers were very biased because she wasnât so âsmartâ in class, and she was regularly accused of cheating. But nobody could prove that she was actually cheating but the whole class and teachers totally believed that she did. Iâm pretty socially awkward so I never really talked to her, but she was leaving school this year and I was genuinely curious about how she was so good during exams and how she didnât let everyoneâs remarks affect her. She always used to sit and hang out with only one girl, and she told me that that friend of hers was severely socially anxious and sheâd lag in studies because she couldnât bring herself to ask doubts in class or ask for help from others. So they had this system where during lectures her friend would write down any question she had, and she would ask them for her. And I was just so touched??? Idk but it really changed the way I looked at people?? This girl endured taunts and jeers and borderline bullying for being âstupidâ when she was actually really smart and could easily have refused to ask such doubts for her friend but she did?? And brushed off everything others would throw at her for her friend?? I was just, idk it just really changed me in some way.
This is also a commentary on ableism and how hurtful it is. One girl was so afraid of being seen as âstupidâ that it stopped her from learning. And, judging by how her friend was treated for asking those questions, she was right to be afraid.
Ya know, teachers always said âdonât be afraid to ask questions.â
But do you know what happened when you asked questions, at least at my school(s)? They would say âI just taught this, werenât you paying attention?â So of course that made many of the students feel like idiots because they asked for help, like they should have understood right away.
This girl did something so many of us were afraid to do, and it wasnât even for herself.
This girl has big Hufflepuff energy.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility
âIt is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.â -Laverne Cox
Foiled!
Today I got to go on one of our runs to more rural shelters to help relieve overcrowding there. We ended up bringing back 21 kittens and 10 dogs. So fun day. But this morning, while I was getting stuff together in preparation for the 90 minute driveâŚ. This happened.
Excuse you Tiniest Opossum, but you are NOT allowed to escape through the front bars of the cat carrier we were housing you in. Iâm going to put you back.
âNO!â
I am going to catch you and put you back and you have no say in this matter.
âNO!â
Catching you and putting you back now.
âNOOOOOO!â
Aaaand back you go. Let go of the purple towel and go in the cardboard box.
âNoooooooooooo!â
This is our future and I have to say they are doing amazing! This is revolutionary I also love how all colors are banding together! They are brave & doing what needs to be done âđż                               Â
These are the children of our future.Â

Eldest sisters r the most oppressed
hey yall dumb fucks reblogging this and yapping about how, ur life is actually super hard as a younger siblingâŚ
the âeldest sisters are oppressedâ thing is based on the fact that the oldest girls in many families are, a lot of the time, drafted into watching her younger siblings to the point that shes more of a young third parent than a kid anymore. shes expected to be incredibly responsible while her younger siblings get to make mistakes. she get to do more housework than her father because apparently men shouldnât have to watch laundry.
op is obviously referring to the ways in which older sisters ( nope not brothers) are forced into maternal roles by both society and their parents for a number of reasons, not limited to societyâs insistence that they must learn to become mothers early. theres also the fact that many families both need and cant afford childcare. this idea that an oldest sister is free childcare is bullshit.
Thereâs a book called âThe Eldest Daughter Effectâ that goes into detail about this. And it applies to the oldest daughter so even if the oldest child is a boy and the second child is a daughter, she is the one who ends up getting all that extra pressure and responsibilities for younger siblings.Â
*sips tea* Sounds about right.
Being the oldest daughter is like being a third parent to children you didnât have.
It got to the point where I sign my sisterâs school paperwork and get her ready to school every day.
