yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.

I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.

As others have said, it was the canary in the coal mine.

PSA to fan creators who don't have a lot of regular contact with children: They are almost always bigger than you think. A 1-year-old baby may already be walking. A toddler is likely already hip-high. A 10-year-old may already be taller than at least one of their parents. A 14/15 year old may already have reached their adult height.

I see this post all the time and I'm so confused. Most people throughout history were busier than your average resident of a developed country is now. My primary reaction to reading about the past since I was a child has been "I'm glad I don't live then, I'm too weak for that, I could not do that much work all the time."

maybe orpheus always looks back because his very effort to reverse death means that he can't look forward. if he could look forward, he could accept eurydice's death, grieve, and keep moving in life. his refusal to accept her death is looking back. his going down to the underworld, asking hades and persephone for her life, trying to lead her out... it's all 'looking back'. he does nothing for the entire story except look back. orpheus! looks! back! it's his entire thing! the story ends the same way it begins: orpheus looked back.

ethan being the harbinger of kronos’ triumph (his resurrection in botl) then his downfall (tlo) lives in my head rent free like. THIS is what his eye paid for, the power to tip the scales w every little decision he makes. he’s a minor character, a powerless demigod child of a minor goddess, but everything he does, both narratively and in-world, changes the game. even his non-action of hiding percy’s achilles spot buys the Olympian side a lot of time because otherwise kronos would’ve struck percy down so fast

I really like the idea of Ethan being a harbinger, not just for Kronos but he was in some way tied to pretty much every death in tlo. He brought Beckendorf to Kronos before the Andromeda explosion, he was on the bridge before it collapsed with Michael, he was the one told to release the drakon that killed Silena and most importantly he was there on Olympus just before Luke/Kronos died.
