But, also, there are a number of regular rereaders who will probably have a fit, and I have lost access to a comfort fic before, I know how much that sucks.

I recognise I could just turn off reviews on those fics, but I would still see them in kudos lists and on my profile.

week 1: a choice not taken

The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

Last time I was playing Persona 5: The Phantom X on my computer, letting the auto-battle mechanic run and trying to take screenshots of scenes (this was right after Crow was released), I happened to make note of the little screen between when you select a highlight and the act of performing that highlight, which is a solid colour with a pattern of stars and that thief's mask in a slightly darker (or lighter, in Morgana's case) shade. And I went, "Huh, that could be a cool desktop background".

Spent today getting the rest of the ones for the currently released international characters (except for Turbo, who I do not have). It was an interesting game of playing with characters I do not usually use, lol, and then trying to find somewhere to do the fights that were weak enough to not kill those characters, but strong enough to put up enough of a fight to be able to get at least one highlight before everything died. 😅

Note that Elucidators/Navigators and the P3 characters do not have highlights. (Wind/Riko does have a highlight with her combat variant, but she's the only one.) (P3 characters have a different mechanic, and they don't have masks, so it's a little harder for this image to be generated for each of them, I assume.) (Closer, Moko, Mont, and Rin all have two images, because they all have variants. Closer and Moko's summer variants have a pufferfish and a butterfly, respectively, because those variants doesn't wear masks, but Mont and Rin have a slightly different variant on their mask.)
