I think neither of them are a problem, annabelle or ben, I think they're 13 and still kids learning about life and fighting new weird teenage hormones ( one for eternity ) I hate how people say its toxic or problematic, they're kids... they're gonna be a rocky relationship because they're still figuring stuff out...
i feel like ben also doesnt have the best view of what a healthy relationship looks like considering his parents
the way the show treats ben and annabelle in general is weird. hes 13 and she presumably is too but their first scene together is them orgasming. like hi hello what why are we doing that
also horny ben in ep7. little peculiar that he tells katherine hes handsy
Yey! Finally finished the edits! Ok, ok, so since they're finished, let me introduce you tooooooo...
My Haunted Hotel Swap AU!
@littlemisscryptid you said you wanted to be tagged when I made the post, so here. :)
I've always liked swap AUs, but one thing that would kinda piss me off is that while people swap characters' places with eachother, they also swap their personalities so that the story becomes as close to canon as possible. And like... N- no. No. The characters are the same but they're under completely different circumstances. Even if the story follows the same concept, it would be quite different from canon. Which is why in my Swap AU, I'm not exactly going for canon accuracy and try to take into consideration how much the plot would change and how different the characters' personalities would be based on their new circumstances (but not to the point where they're a completely different character. Just enough so you can go "huh, ig it makes sense why they would act that way"). Nowwwww, without further ado let's get right in!
Esther and Ben! (I tried on Esther's shirt y'all š).
Esther and Ben were kids from the 1700's. They were orphans, raised by the small village they lived in (yes, unfortunately Katharine isn't their biological mom here so that the story would make sense, so I gave them no mom). They would both have to work in order to get some money and food in their small house (child labor, yeyyyyyyy).
From a young age, Esther was always drawn to the supernatural. To the paranormal. To witchcraft. She knew it was forbidden, but what could she do? She was a curious child with no parents to tell her what to do. So which craft it was!
Ben at some point found out about his little sister's new hobby and tried to stop her, to reason with her, saying witchcraft is the work of the Devil and that kinda stuff but Esther, stubborn as ever, didn't listen. Despite that, Ben stayed quiet, keeping an eye on her and her rituals. That was still his baby sister and he would protect her no matter what. As long as she didn't sell her soul to any demons or whatever, he supposed it was fine.
There was a woman in the village though, an exorcist and a witch hunter who caught up on Esther's dark practices (yes, I'm swapping the exorcist and the priest). So ofc, the people of the village took Esther to burn her at the stake at the edge of a cliff. Ben somehow managed to save her (or more accurately, distracted the village long enough for Esther to save herself). They caught up on his bs, so they stabbed him with a sword for working with a witch, and dropped him down the cliff, where he died right on the edge of the hotel's property.
That night, Esther, angry and grieving, maked a deal and sold her soul to a demon (idk which one) under the promise of power and revenge. By the next morning, the village had burnt down to ashes.
Esther stayed around the area for centuries, until the present day. Because. Her brother was stuck there at some place's property. (what was it? A prison? An asylum?) As a ghost. They tried to keep her away, the previous owners, but nothing worked. That was her stupid brother, why would she leave him??? And as long as the demon has Esther's soul, she's stuck in her 11 year old self's body, as an immortal (I want something to replace Abaddon's cross from the ritual, so maybe instead she has the symbol of the demon she summoned across her chest).
I imagine this Esther being a bit more paranoid here, putting protective spells on the Freelings and carrying around bags with herbs and witchy stuff bc you never know when you might need them. And unlike Canon!Abaddon, she likes catching up with what's going on with the world. New fashion, new slang, the works. But she's still a little shit like in canon. :)
This Ben, while being in Anabelle's place, is a ghost from the 1700's instead of the 20's. He's not really an expert on 21st century stuff, but Esther likes catching him up (him and Esther might also be low-key a bit codependent in a not very healthy way, having been orphans with no one to take care of them but themselves, and with Ben being dead but still in the hotel). While he is in Anabelle's place, in my version of the AU he would have a bigger role than her in canon, being Esther's brother and all (for example, if I were to draw the family picture, both Anabelle and Ben would be in it).
Abaddon and Anabelle! In this AU, they're Nathan's foster kids (contrary to popular belief, they're not biologically related).
Abaddon was raised in a cult that believed in a demon that would bring the apocalypse (hence being named after a demon himself). The authorities found out about the cult and pulled Abaddon away from it and put in him the foster care system when he was 7, now being 10. He was tossed around a bunch of families that couldn't handle him and his feral behavior, until settling under the care of Nathan Freeling six months ago. He seems to be able to... Handle him. Even if he's fascinated by death and bones and somehow seems to be constantly covered in animal blood. (in this AU Abaddon is still a little shit, just not in a demon-trapped-in-a-little-kid's-body type of way, but bc of being raised in a cult. He's still trying to unlearn the things the cult taught him even if it's a challenge but hey, at least he's a good tipper!)
Anabelle is a girl obsessed with 20's cinema and fashion, āwhich turns out to be a conduit as wellā, who was raised in an Evangelical family. Extremely religious, conservative, and well, if you know how those families are, it's unfortunately quite easy for young kids in these types of families to get groomed, and Anabelle unfortunately wasn't an exception. CPS put her in the system when she was around 8, and at 10 she was put under Nathan's care (Between her and Abaddon, she's the one the longest living with Nathan). Anabelle wants to become a movie star one day bc she feels like she was born for the spotlight, and who could resist her body??? When her and Ben get into arguments she emphasizes all the good things about herself, which is her body, bc she feels that's the only good thing she has (this is also my hc for Canon!Anabelle bc let's be fr, girl has a lot of trauma to unpack when you think about it). In this AU both her and Abaddon go to therapy, but they both still need to work on regulating their emotions. But it's ok. Nathan is patient. She also likes catfishing men on discord for free money and robux (don't tell Nathan though).
Katharine and Nathan Freeling! (this edit didn't do justice to my queen at all š)
Katherine is a woman in her late 30's. She's very hard working and responsible, but she also tends to get stressed quite easily. She got pregnant when she was in college and dropped out to raise her kid, only to have a miscarriage. At some point she finally divorced her husband, Ron. Shortly after her divorce she played cards with a random person at a pub and oh hey, would you look at that? She won the game! And an entire hotel. Having just broken up with her now ex-husband and feeling lost, she decided a brand new start was what she needed, so she packed everything up and went to run the hotel. But as it turned out, it was haunted. Ok. No big deal. She could handle it, right? Oh hey, a kid on top of a tree. She took the kid in, and after seeing her performing a ritual of sort infront of the fireplace in the middle of the same night she took her in, turns out said kid is an immortal witch whose big brother is the ghost that haunts the library. Despite Esther being immortal and a witch, Katherine couldn't help but feel maternal towards her, and shortly after towards Ben as well as she realized that holy shit, that's a 13 year old that got himself impaled to protect his little sister. Despite everything, running a haunted hotel was too much stress for a single person like Katherine, and passed away in her sleep at her office from a stress-induced heart attack. Esther found her first. Since in this AU Katherine is dead and doesn't have to deal with the responsibilities of being alive, I imagine she'd be slightly more chill (she'd still be a stressed mess, but at least not nearly as much as in canon). Due to her death being caused by stress, there wasn't really a reason for Nathan to hide the cause of her death from her.
So, now you're probably thinking "but Ana! If Nathan isn't hiding from Katherine her cause of death, then what is it that he's hiding?" Well, my dear people who are taking their time of day to read my AU, I'm glad you asked! Which leads us tooooooo...
Nathan! Nathan is the older brother of Katherine. He's a single foster father of two. He's a happy-go-lucky guy, always positive, giving others advice, and always trying to see the good in everyone, trying to enjoy the small things in life. Despite that, he's also struggling with his own inner demons. Struggling to get out of bed every morning and just staring at the ceiling, contemplating why he's even here. Nathan wants to adopt both Abaddon and Anabelle, but he's afraid the court won't let him bc he has a history of getting into cults and is prescribed anti depressants. When he found out his little sister died he felt even more helpless. Despite that, he tried to push through and packed everything up along with his kids to go operate the hotel he inherited. Since in this AU he's alive, I want him to be struggling with the responsibilities of being alive (I feel like his depression isn't talked about enough tbh).
Which leads us to the conflict of this AU's version of ep 9 "The Esthercrist". Instead of Nathan hiding from Katherine the truth behind her death, it would be him hiding from her just how bad his mental health really is. Katherine would feel terrible about how she never noticed how much her brother was drowning, until he said something like "you're so lucky you're dead!" Which would resort in a fight about how she's really not lucky, and uh, yeah.
So far that's pretty much it. I'm still trying to come up with the details and as to how the apocalypse would even happen, but yeah. :)
I now have the urge to draw Swap!Esther and Swap!Ben.
(also here's the full picture of Ben and Anabelle, the cropping for the post kinda butchered the analysis).

i am the priest's number one (#1) hater if he has no haters the I'm fucking dead. he's so glorified by the fandom its not even fun anymore, I hate a character I dont even know yet because of the fandom
I need to know how Annabelle and Ben came to be in a romantic(?) relationship in your AU. Did Abaddon also want money? Did he do that just because? Did he discover Benās origins and wanted to hear more? I need to know!!!
How did Nathan discover Estherās backstory? Or, stars, how did Katherine even discover it? Is Esther open about it?
Also, how would the tenth episode go in your AU? Would Esther go back in time, over and over, for Ben or Abaddon?
YOUR AU HURTS ME IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE. I NEED TO KNOW SO MUCH!!!
Since in this AU there wasn't anything Annabelle could get from him like money, or vice versa. I had thought that Ben maybe got a crush on Annabelle and he's scared shitless bc in his 13 years of being alive and in his 300 years of being dead, he's never been in a relationship. Esther helped him talk to her bc she thought it would be funny seeing Ben fumble with a girl, but then they found out Annabelle is a conduit and the two actually got into a relationship (like I mentioned in my main post and a few asks ago, Ben and Esther have a more unhealthy sibling relationship bc they counted on eachother too much and for too long, so seeing Ben spend time and be happy with someone else really ticked Esther off). Abaddon was just there for the vibes.
Katherine found out Esther is a witch while she was still alive, during the first night Esther was in the hotel bc she found her performing a ritual infront of the fireplace. Esther didn't give many explanations as to how she ended up as an immortal witch stuck in her 11 year old self's body, only that "it was super cool and angsty. You couldn't handle my awesomeness if I told you so." But upon finding out Ben is Esther's big brother, she asked him and he was more willing to actually explain (Katharine had to open a bottle of wine after this bc holy fucking shit).
And sorry to disappoint you, but I still haven't come up with the plot of this AU's hypothetical version of ep 10.š This is what gives me the most struggle. Maybe the cult Abaddon was raised in came to the hotel and they were worshipping Esther? Idk, still working on it.š
How would⦠the seventh episode⦠go in your Swap AU?
Besides, what would be Katherineās meaning of existence? Also
CONNECT FOUR
I need to see Abaddon and Esther playing Connect Four and see how much it changes (if Estherās vision changed after her pact, or if Abaddon is still colorblind here)
Wait, who would be Heather? Would she still be⦠Heather?
The feeling of dread that coursed through my body when you reminded me of the Seven Deadly Bens episode's existence...š
Welllllll... In this AU the episode would be called "Seven Deadly Annabelles". Ig the whole thing would start with Nathan telling Annabelle that he would appreciate it if she could act more like the sweet young woman he knew she was under her rude and demanding personality. She would then find the closet and a nice and sweeter version of Annabelle would come out of the closet. Then more versions would happen, then chaos, then Nathan would feel bad and feel like it was his fault, then self acceptance through kissing, and, uhhhhhh, yeah, pretty much (that was the day Nathan seriously considered killing himself, lol).
Now, as about Katherine's meaning of existence? I think it would be chilling. Katherine had lived such a stressful life during her marriage, divorce, and hotel management, that relaxation was truly a blessing. Especially with people she loved and cared about. And in her last few years of being alive she felt... Lonely. I imagine the reason why she would start sinking down to the Earth's core would be that there were so many things to do at once, repairs, taxes, money, guests, other ghosts, that there wasn't any time for the family to sit, relax, and catch up on eachother's news and talk about anything.
Also I think it would be funny if Abaddon was STILL colorblind and didn't know how he was losing, especially since Esther didn't know how to play the game until 5 minutes prior. I imagine once he beat her, he wouldn't have the same reaction like in canon (jumping on the table and kicking the connect four and going on a rant about how superior he is) bc since Abaddon is human here, he has some filter, but he would point at Esther's face and go "HA! In your face, witch!" In victory. I imagine Abaddon would know what colors are, just not all colors bc, yk, he's colorblind, and he genuinely thought seeing in gray was normal (Annabelle would say something like "so THIS is why all your clothes' colors don't match whenever you dress yourself?!").
Yk, great question about Heather! I had honestly forgotten about her in this AU.š Anywayyyyyy, I would switch her places with Phoebe (I haven't thought how Heather would have died, though I don't want to give her the same death as Canon!Phoebe. Oh well, either way, doesn't matter much), as well as age-swap them. Instead of a gang, Heather would have a bookclub! Nathan actually thought she was a great influence for Abaddon, and maybe help tame his wild side. Abaddon found her amusing at times, but mostly boring. He thought Phoebe, his troublemaker classmate, was much cooler. Nathan would be worried about him, bc she really doesn't seem like a great influence towards him at all, but uh... At least he's hanging out with a kid his age...?
I am a bit afraid that Tumblr ate my ask, therefore, here it goes again.
Very simple question, but would Abaddon still be fascinated by Blenderā¢? Given the image you edited, the answer feels like a āyesā (I also wonder how would the āI killed a prophet onceā line change.)
Also! How does episode two go with Katherine instead of Nathan, and who does she go with? And how does Nathan almost dieāand I imagine, considering his mental state still, he would gave considered letting go, āthis is where all of this led meāāand just not give up completely because one of his kids would put the picture portal for him. He canāt die, not yet. Not when his little boy (I suppose Abaddon is the one who stays) wants him alive that much?
Also, considering it is Heather instead of Phoebe, how would Nathan even get into the situation? Maybe it is with another ghostāAngela, Joe (I call the Cowboy āJoe,ā he has a Joe face,) Oscar, dunnoāor maybe, he even goes there by himself?
Little idea about how Heather could have died in your AU: She is relatively well-known (maybe as a reporter, I donāt know why,) and someone slashed her throat because of it. So sheād have a slit on her throat instead of a hatchet on her head.
And if it was Annabelle being dragged by the Infant God, if she even goes and not Ben still, would she still ask to throw her laptop out or would she ask something else? (But considering the image you edited, it seems Ben is the one who goes.)
I am rambling so hard, I am so sorry, but I am really interested in your AU and ideas, it is all so good!!!
I'm pretty sure Tumblr did eat your ask bc I didn't find anything from you in my inbox, lol. And I don't mind your rambling at all!!! Asks like this make me think of the characters in different scenarios and how they would play out. I'm honestly so surprised that so many people are interested in my AU, it makes me so happy!!! Nowwwww, let's get to answering your questions!
I see Abaddon as that type of kid that would get hyperfixated over how a particular device works, that being blenders for him (*chanting* autistic Abaddon, autistic Abaddon, autistic Abaddon). I imagine instead of his "I killed a prophet once" line he would say something else that's equally unhinged. Maybe something he remembers from the cult.
In this AU's version of ep 2, Katherine would go with Annabelle and Esther. And maybe instead talking about a laptop as she's being dragged by the Infant God, Annabelle would ask to throw her books away, since it's implied she reads a lot in canon (girlypop needs to discover fanfiction).
As about Nathan's almost death experience, it would be an accident. Nathan and Heather would talk in the bar and Nathan would vent to her about he wants Abaddon to have a normal life and that he's happy he's making friends, just not friends like Phoebe. He would say absentmindedly about how he needed to go somewhere to be alone to think and Heather would suggest the tower (is this how it's called?) by saying something like "I know a place where you can be by yourself! Butttt I don't think it would be a very good idea..." So they go up there and Nathan would be kinda careless and lean against the railings and they would break. Heather would panic and go tell someone (Abaddon) that Nathan is in danger. Nathan would be stressed the entire time since, well, he's dangling from the roof, and this was seriously not how he was thinking (definitely not planning!) on ending things. He wasn't even watching Con Air!!! But yes, he would contemplate that maybe it's finally his time and he should let go, before he remembered he had kids when Abaddon set the paintings for him. Abaddon would appreciate Heather's warning, but he would be pissed at Phoebe bc she made a joke out of the whole thing and kicked her out (no, he definitely wasn't overthinking the fact that Nathan could have died, how dare you suggest that, but how could she joke about it?!) So yeah, while Heather and Phoebe are swapped together, they would have similar fates with their canon counterparts (also I'm stealing your idea about how Heather died, it's scrumptious. (ā āā į“ā āā āæā ))
Also in case you want to know, the reason why I kept their original places in the edited pictures in the first post about my au, is bc my lazy ass was NOT going to redraw the characters in different places and try to replace the show's art style (same reason why I only edited photos instead of drawing them. I'm lazy :3)
Idk, I feel like I forgot to answer something. If I did, let me know! And if you have any more ramblings about my AU, don't be shy! I love hearing (well, reading) people rambling about my AU, it's so fun, don't be sorry! I LOVE THIS PARTICULAR FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

For the swap au, there's no real event this parallels in canon, but I imagine that one day a social worker shows up (they check in on foster parents every now and again) and shenanigans ensue as the whole gang tries to keep the ghost/supernatural under wraps while presenting Nathan as a caring, completely in control guardian.
The way I can picture it so PERFECTLY in my head and yet I have no words to properly describe it.š
The entire thing would be so comical. The social worker is inspecting the hotel and they're headed to a room where supernatural activities are happening and Nathan nervously tries to stall them from entering while Katherine and Esther try to get the ghost/monster out, or right behind the social worker's back and Nathan is sweating buckets and "discreetly" signaling to Katherine to get the thing away with Katherine signaling back at him in frustration.
Then the worker would have to talk to Annabelle and Abaddon. Abaddon starts talking about "father and son" bonding activities they did and the fighting the mothman bit slips from his tongue and Annabelle kicks him under the table and he goes "ouch! You kicked me! >:(" And Annabelle would try to "clarify" that they were playing superheroes and that "The Mothman " is actually just an imaginary supervillain and not the actual mothman, hahahahaha.
Now I have funny images with the worker's visit in my head now, I love it.
How do Abaddon and Annabelle get along? Especially on the Swap!Eighth Episode? Abaddon missing his biological father (that he saw in your Swap!First Episode) and trying to bring him back, despite everything that happened in the cult, or it is still Dan (or⦠Dan and Aunt Rose get swapped, somehow, which means Abaddon would want a mother more than a father, which makes more sense because they do have a father, just not biological.) Abaddon would probably not mind that this old zombie lady is mean to himāmost likely because the cult made him used to thatāhe just wants a maternal figure (if Dan and Rose donāt get swappedā MAN, THIS IS COMPLEX.)
I want to see Esther getting trapped behind the door, maybe even Ben trying to help her from there. Would Esther get a bond with⦠the spider, who is not Jarbon hereāit would probably have the name of the first demon she made a pact with (idea: since it burned down the entire village, it could be a violent demon yet of āhigh caliber,ā like Andras; fire-related could be Phenex, a⦠phoenix; and helping a kid could be Ipos because he seems to dislike humanity, too, JUST RANDOM IDEAS,) or even have Jezmeraldaās name.
⦠I want to see how much Nathan and Aunt Rose (or Uncle Dan?) hate each other while heās alive, or if she trash-talks Katherine, even if she is ābetterā than everyone else in the family.
Also! An anon made a question about the seventh episode, correct? Would Abaddon bring Phoebe to help Katherine, even if they fought before, like the āVitriolic Best Budsā trope? Would Phoebe even accept, or would Heather be the one trying to help again, even if she canāt do anything to help much? Which makes me think about the Rollyfluffs episode and how it would take place hereā
I FEEL LIKE I AM OVERWHELMING YOU WITH SO MANY IDEAS AND QUESTIONS, I JUST. LOVE THIS AU SO MUCH. IT FEELS SO ACCURATE. I ADORE IT!!!
YOU'RE MAKING ME THINK OF STUFF I HADN'T THOUGHT BEFORE AND YOU'RE GIVING ME SUCH WONDERFUL IDEAS, I LOVE YOU.
Annabelle and Abaddon's relationship is still kinda rocky and awkward, since Abaddon is still relatively new to the family and both kids struggle with new changes, but they've fallen to a certain rhythm that's comfortable for all, and as the story would develop they would get more comfortable with eachother.
I loved your idea of swapping aunt Rose and Dan together (so obvious, yet I completely missed it!) so I'm gonna use that. :D
Uncle Dan would actually be a very sweet man. A little aggressive at times due to some anger issues, but a very sweet guy overall! Katherine wouldn't like him that much bc she's always felt like he's judging her (also Nathan's lip insecurity could come from an offhand comment Dan had said one time in a non-malicious way, and Nathan took it to heart. But yeah, despite his absentminded offhand comments, he's pretty chill). Like Canon!Aunt Rose, he would be sick with something (maybe cancer) and he wanted to visit his family one last time. Maybe at some point Dan starts talking about how unfortunate it was for Katherine to die so young and how she could have achieved so much more if she only has the time, and then she would step through the wall and go "you really think so uncle Dan?" All emotional and such. Dan would be dumbfounded and later would ask if he could stay at the hotel so he can be a ghost bc he doesn't feel like dying yet, and like in canon (well, kinda, Rose never asked) Katherine would give him the ok. Nathan would be uncertain, bc sure, he liked uncle Dan during Thanksgivings, but not to the point where he stayed in the hotel forever.
Now moving on to Abaddon and Annabelle, Abaddon would revive an old woman from the hotel's graveyard with stuff he found in Esther's witch cave bc the principal wanted to speak to his parent for bringing bird bones in class, along with the bird, and he really wasn't in the mood to get lectured, so yeah, zombie. Abaddon would then bond with Rose by doing activities with her and listen to her complain about something in zombie. Annabelle would keep calling him stupid for reviving a zombie, and would follow them around. The reason why Abaddon would get attached to Zombie Rose would be bc he never had a mother figure in his life. He didn't remember his biological mom, and the moms in his previous foster homes were not very good or patient with him, so he thought Rose complaining about everything and everyone was normal. Annabelle would keep trying to explain it to him, and he would respond with something like "how do you know what a healthy mother figure looks like? Your mother tried to marry you off!" (Dick move of him, yes, but he didn't know the magnitude of his words). Then Annabelle would start screaming at him that if he didn't kill that zombie she would do it herself. And they're yelling back and forth at eachother to the point where they're not even fighting about Rose, just whatever little thing they're mad at eachother that pilled up until that moment. Then zombie Rose gets bored and leaves without any of the siblings noticing. And she kinda kidnaps uncle Dan after finding him outside for fun. (idk how she would be able to do that though and lift him up. Zombie power?) So the entire family would have to go out and search for zombie Rose and uncle Dan. They would find them in the cave like in canon, and after a touchy moment Dan would die in Nathan's arms on the hotel's property and Abaddon would force himself to let Rose die. Abaddon would be sad and Annabelle would go "do you want me to put on my mommy voice and read you a bed time story?" "I would greatly appreciate it, yes." Idk what would help Dan move on. Maybe something silly, like seeing a rare bird he always wanted to see. Anyway, an ambulance would take the body and Abaddon and Annabelle would be burying Rose's remains and Abaddon would vent a little about how he always wondered how it is to have a mom, and Annabelle would say "well, I don't know much about how a 'normal mom' is supposed to act, but from what I know she's not supposed to be rotting or criticize your shirt when she looks like she's dressed from the past century!" Then Katherine would call them over for dinner (it's takeout) and both kids would realize that they do have a mom. Sorta. She's dead too, but at least not rotting.
Meanwhile during the entirety of everything, Esther is stuck behind a door and she can't get out. Ben is trying to help her, but, he's a ghost, so, yeah. He wanted to go tell someone that she's trapped but Esther would rather die than being found stuck in the stupidest way possible. And she can't even burn down the door with a spell, or else Katherine will be pissed! Instead of a demon's name, maybe she'd give the spider she found the name of the first kid she tortured/got revenge from her village, back when she was still a young and amateur witch. When she managed to climb her way out and kicked the thing that stopped the door from closing it (ah yes, I'm soooo good at English) in frustration and killed the spider, she would just stare at it for a long moment before sighing and going "God-damnit".
Tbh idk how the Rollyfluffs episode would go. Abaddon would definitely try to be at the top of the school's hierarchy, but bc he found out about their evil nature and thought that if he gained their trust they would make him their king. It didn't work out, obviously. Phoebe would be the one to help Abaddon with the Rollyfluffs. Not bc they see eachother as friends, but bc she doesn't want to be possessed by some fluffy creatures and puke their eggs out. So ig they would have some sort of truce/alliance.
Sorry it took so long for me to answer!!! I started typing the answer last night but I fell asleep and woke up with my phone in my hand.š But I don't have school today bc of the crappy weather, so I was able to answer it! (I still feel like I forgot to answer something...š)
I am a very, very simple person, so Iāll keep asking about how the episodes would go, and little questions my mind comes up with. Also, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ENJOYING MY RANDOM IDEAS. <3
We know how a little of first swap episode would go, essentially. The second. A very little bit of the fifth. Seventh. Swap!Eighth is the most fleshed-out. So, I want to try the sixth oneāGhost Hunters (I am watching the episode as I text this, lol)
(Since Nathan had a lot of unfinished projectsābecause of depression, wouldnāt change hereāI believe Katherine would have unfinished projects because of stress or not have any other projects other than the hotel.)
I NEED TO KNOW HOW THE E-MAIL WOULD GO IN THE SWAP AU!!! And how would the Ghost Hunters even go to the hotel, considering Katherine didnāt want it becoming a gimmick?
Abaddon would definitively not be āThe Squirrel,ā maybe he would go āKing of Shrimpā or āDark Prince of the Underworld,ā like his canon self?ā (also⦠would he want to be unreliable or be extremely chaotic? I actually think heād dislike them, still, or Nathan wouldnāt want Abaddon on TV because heās afraid the cult might find him???) Besides, I think Annabelle would want to be part of it more than Abaddon, anyways. Given how Esther is up to modern trends⦠she knows what a TV is, right?
⦠why would she want to send messages, though? Would she try to manipulate Lonny and Jib rather than try to steal the camera? (She seems like sheād be SO misanthropic and manipulative here, and rightfully so.)
Would Ben refuse to be in the episode out of nervousness? Would Annabelle be split between being in the episode and trying to figure out the things they donāt talk about? How would she even find the enchanted book? (The girl on the book is Jillian Demure and Annabelle keeps her in the book on purpose when she discovers that. Just for fun.) Ben wouldnāt have the same temper tantrum Annabelle had⦠I guess. Maybe heād prefer to help Esther with her messages rather than show up?
⦠would Lonny and Jib be swapped by someone else?
Ben and Annabelle being swapped is the most intriguing for me, because they are so different. So I would love to see how theyād go together.
Also! What would Annabelle and Abaddon have piled up against each other in the Swap!Eighth Episode? It would hurt to see if it becomes even more intense with each sentence (like Annabelle mentioning what she knows of the cult and Abaddon going even deeper into Annabelleās traumas other than just almost being married off.)
And what would Nathan be mad at Katherine about? (Abaddon surely loves drama.)
Wait, Ben has never dated in this AU, so how would Swap!First Episodeās āI canāt believe this is happening again!ā go? Would Ben be reluctant to date Annabelle? Would she even accept right off the bat to try to date Ben because she finds him cute and she is more confident? (I donāt think she cares about what sounds ethical or unethical.)
What lie would Abaddon tell the Ghost Hunters when they have their memories erased? ⦠Annabelle watching Estherās video would be so funny, actually.
I AM SO SORRY FOR THIS LONG OF AN ASK, AUTISM IS TAKING OVER MY LIFE (both the show and your AU. (ā ā„ā ļ¹ā ā„ā ))
Ooooooooh, more stuff to think about!šāØ
I imagine, similarly to canon, Nathan's old therapist (I hc he used to go to therapy before he took charge of the hotel and he couldn't afford therapy anymore) told him to write an email to Katherine as a therapy exercise, and it would kinda take a different turn from what he thought and wrote about stuff he found irritating by her. It was really petty things, like that one time she stole 10$ from him when they were twelve, or how she forgot to give back a book she borrowed from him years ago. As about the email to the Ghost Hunters, I think Nathan would have sent it to them like in canon, just in case they answered, and he wanted to surprise Katherine (she didn't like the surprise).
Esther wouldn't really be interested in the Ghost Hunters since in this AU she's an immortal witch with a lot of experience, so she knows assholes when she sees them. Abaddon wouldn't be interested in the spotlight either. But do you know who would be interested in the spotlight? Annabelle! She would try to charm them to get her to be part of the episode, just for them to dismiss her. She would tweak so bad, bc how dare they dismiss her like she's nothing?! Ben would be nervous about being on camera, as nervous an anxious ghost boy from the 1700s can be. Meanwhile, Esther would try and steal one of their cameras so she could make videos (I imagine Esther had a general idea of how TV works, just not that all it needed was just a camera).
Esther would make videos about witchcraft, her first one being "Easy ways to curse your enemies and their bloodline". (Annabelle found it surprisingly helpful!)
Annabelle would find the blank book and realize it's haunted and she would write about anything. Especially about her relationship with Ben, expecting support, just for the book to go "girl? You're the problem!" She would read the reasons as to why she's the problem and get pissed and put the book back in the library. She would try not to think about what the book said, that she's obviously not the problem, but deep down she knows it's true, but she refuses to admit it (also the detail of the book being Jillian Demure is hilarious, lmao).
Tbh I don't really care about Lonny and Jib, so I just swapped them with eachother.šš After they get their memories erased Abaddon tells them "you two are amateur serial killers. You also treat women nicely." The family would give Abaddon weird and worried looks bc he literally made them think they're serial killers, and he doesn't know why he's getting the weird looks. "Why are you looking at me like that? I dissolved their misogyny." (the two will get arrested for attempted murder later that night, so it wasn't much of a big deal anyway!)
I think I answered the bit about Swap!Episode 8 in a previous ask. Or not. I really don't remember.š (so many asks, it's insane! In a good way!!)
As for how Ben and Annabelle got together, idk how the "I can't believe this is happening again!" thing would go since Annabelle is Ben's first relationship ever. Ig it just... Wouldn't? In my head, there really wasn't an ulterior motive as to why Ben and Annabelle got together at first. Esther just encouraged Ben to talk to Annabelle, thinking she would dump him and get a laugh out of it, only for them to hit it off.
I thinkkkkkkk that's about it? And don't be sorry about the long ask! (trust me with your information, as an autistic person to another, I know how this feels, lol).
What are you thinking for the swap au equivalent of "How to train your demon"? I'm imagining Nathan making a point to have an uncle niece bonding day with Esther (one on one parent time is important for kids) and trying WAY too hard, causing Esther to lash out. She eventually reels it in and they learn to meet each other halfway.
While Esther is a little shit who terrorizes the town of Midwich for fun, I imagine she's savy enough to not get caught, and knows enough about modern life to know that you can't just kidnap rival hotel owners. So I'm not sure what the boiling point for this episode would be.
Ooooooh, that's an interesting ask!
Firstly, one thing for sure is that the episode would get renamed as "How to Train Your Witch". I imagine Nathan would want to go to town to get paint like Katherine in canon, and would think that, hey, he doesn't think he's seen Esther go to town. And he's pretty sure he hasn't been spending lots of time with her. A little kid needs to have a healthy relationship with a trustful adult (he read it in his book) and he's pretty sure he is one, so why not take her with him? She complains in the car, but it's nothing Nathan can't handle! He manages to get paint, but at some point he realizes Esther's gone from the store and he searches half the town for her until he finds her in the playground performing a ritual on a kid. He takes her to his car and gives her a talk about how she shouldn't perform rituals on random kids. Esther is confused and bummed, bc the kid agreed, so she really doesn't see a problem.
Ig at some point on their way back to the hotel Nathan would ask Esther if she has any hobbies.
"Uhhhh, I like performing rituals."
"I know, but is there anything other than rituals? Something that's less, uhhhh... Witchcrafty?"
"Hmmm... Oh! I like putting curses on people that piss me off! >:)"
"That falls under witchcraft honey."
"Then I guess I don't have any hobbies!"
The episode would be Nathan trying to find Esther a normal and healthy hobby instead of a job around the hotel. Now idk how the whole "Esther accidentally kidnaps the owner of Bed & Breakfast" thing would go. (I'm swapping Charlie [that was his name, right?] with the woman that tried to book in the Undervale for her wedding. I don't remember her name, but yk the one?)
Wait, while writing I had an idea. Esther wouldn't kidnap anyone. So at some point she would leave Nathan bc she's tired of him trying to find her a "real" hobby and summon a hellhound bc she can. Nathan, who has been trying to help Esther, is frustrated and acts a little out of character and forbids her from doing witchcraft for a week, saying that she's obsessed with it and that it would be healthy for her to spend a couple of days without it. She tries to protest but Nathan doesn't want to hear it so she locks herself in the attic out of frustration. Meanwhile, the hellhound is still in the hotel so by the time Charlie comes to the hotel to book for his wedding, Nathan has to deal with that and everything else. Esther would eventually help by sending the hellhound back to Hell and she would pretend to be his little niece and use her 11 year old girl charm. "Sorry for causing you trouble uncle Nate. I tried to prove that I'm a good dog owner, but I guess I failed. Here, you can take the dog back *gives him a dog leash*. And you won't let me have ice cream for a month. :(" Obviously everyone believes her and thinks the hellhound was just a normal dog and tells Nathan to go easy on her and after the whole thing dissipates and everyone leaves, Nathan would apologize to Esther for his behavior, that he shouldn't take away the one thing that brings her joy, and that he shouldn't push her to find a "real" hobby. She would accept the apology, as long as he stopped complaining about her rituals.
Omg, while writing it I had completely forgotten the B plot with Katherine, Abaddon, and Annabelle (Ben would be there too since he's a bigger character in the AU than Canon!Annabelle and bc yes). Ig not much would change with them. I would swap Jeremy with the guy that brings water to the hotel. They still think he's a werewolf. Also Abaddon is team Edward and Esther has beef with Bigfoot.
I need to know about your Swap!Third Episode. Especially who are Randy and Joel swapped with.
Who would be the killer and what would be his motivations? Would PKās motivations continue to stay the same, which is to kill people who are having sex?
And Annabelle actually seems like she would have called the teenagers to her house because she wants the attention and already tries to convince herself sheās popular (I am giving her Cluster B disorders, in my headcanons, she fits the criteria for at least two. Besides, the environment she grew up in the AU does make that a possibility.)
I really wonder what would Esther chant⦠if Abaddon chanted āAbaddon,ā would Esther also chant her own name, or something else?
I NEED THE āwhy would someone date you?ā BY ABADDON OR ESTHER. Abaddon did it out of demon misunderstanding, but Esther⦠would she be willingly mean? Or does ādateā indeed mean something else in Shakespearean English? Besides, what would Annieās reaction be? (I think a bit more intense than Benās to protect Nathanās feelings.)
Would Nathan think the others want to purposefully avoid him by insisting he goes on that date? ⦠Thatād be tragic, if so.
Does Esther have a trilby? Or some other hat? (She definitively kept vintage hats as time went on, I imagine.)
⦠What is Benās role here? And I truly need Katherine trying to talk with the killer and being mad at them until she seems to grow a bit attached to them⦠she would still be disappointed that she got attached, though.
Stabbadon scene, what do they chant instead of āStabbadon!ā? And I think Annabelle would be more envious than disappointed.
Wait⦠can Esther lose limbs and have them reattached? I am imagining Abaddon trying to stitch her back together while she just looks done, like ānot again. I went so far this time! I might have gotten my record of not getting torn apart!ā
I need Abby wanting to kill the killer instead of doing a āsolidā plan like Estherās.
And the fake making out scene⦠I wonder if Annabelle would even agree to thatā unless Ben still has the same situation here and he wants to save Annie the stressā wait, if the teenagers call Ben āBend,ā how would they call Annabelle?
Would Nathan accept the date because he wants it, or would he go home alone? But then, how would Swap!PK want to kill him? I AM LOSING MY MIND.
I LOVE THE THIRD EPISODE, BUT I DONāT REMEMBER MUCH OF IT BECAUSE I AM SLEEPY, EVEN THOUGH I JUST WOKE UPā WHA!!!
No, I am not getting attached to your Swap!Abby and Swap!Annie, totally, nuh-uh. The nickname is because Abby is already called that here and Annie is because Annabelle is too long, thatās why! Hmph! (I adore your Swap AU, I know I say that a lot, but I mean it everytime.)
What a coincidence! I just answered an ask like that earlier this morning! Definitely not bc I specifically requested that hahahahaha (looking for this ask on my blog made me realize just how many stuff I reblog lol). Many of your questions have been answered there. :)
I think I have figured out who I'm gonna swap Randy with! I'm gonna swap him with Angela. :) The fake making out scene would change, and Annabelle and Angela would be pretending to pet a cat and make fake cat noises with Annabelle whispering "this is humiliating. T-T"
As for who would say "why would someone date you?" I think it would be neither Esther or Abaddon. It would be Annabelle. Don't get her wrong, she loves Nathan, he makes her feel genuinely loved and he treats her like the daughter he never had (which she is). But she also thinks he's low-key a loser. But oh welp! If her loser foster father's gonna go on a date, she'll make sure he looks less like the nerd he is and more like a movie star. <3
And yes, Esther can tear and reattach her limps back. She's more careful though and doesn't lose her limps that often, but she will get that freaking jacket back.
To replace the "Stabaddon" scene, it would be Esther sitting on the floor along with the cat girls and petting a cat saying "you know, they say that a dog is man's best friend, but a cat is a witch's best friend."

Fun fact about Swap!Ben and Swap!Annabelle: Ben is curious and interested in Annabelle's skincare routine and keeps asking questions about what each product does, and Annabelle LOVES explaining it to him. Sometimes Ben phases his face through the mannequin's head so that Annabelle can "apply" her products on his face. He thinks it's fun!
