If you actually actively still support anything Crystal Castles related, you should be aware of the following. I’m so tired of seeing posts tinged with Ethan Kath’s influence stating how he’s not that bad and was always nice to fans. He remains the only person I’ve ever blocked on any social media, and I spoke to him for years. He took advantage of my kindness for his own gain and that’s not okay for anyone to do, let alone to someone who looked up to him more than anything. He messaged me through the aliases Andy Lee and Dan Marshall, as well as his own personal accounts on Facebook in an attempt to not only frame Jupiter as Alice’s abuser, but to also manipulate me into lying to Ari for him, so the people blaming Alice and Jupiter for a situation that Ethan carefully manipulated to protect HIS image and career clearly don’t have a clear understanding of the situation.
Ethan was very aware of how vocal Ari was being on Tumblr about her distaste for him, so he messaged me on Facebook asking me to help him “clear his name”. As seen above, he asked me to lie to Ari about his involvement in the harassing anons by telling her that it wasn’t him and that I actually knew someone who knew who was behind them. He then sent me screenshots of messages he was exchanging with her (with her replies included), proving that HE was the one communicating with her and NOT Alice and Jupiter. Unfortunately, she believed the lie I was coerced into telling her and went on to falsely accuse Alice and Jupiter of being behind the harassing anons. Ari, if this reaches you and you go back and read our conversation on Facebook, please know that Ethan was messaging me as I messaged you, telling me EXACTLY what to say to you. Almost a year later, a friend of mine named Callum received a Tumblr message on anonymous asking “Do you still respect Alice? She doesn’t seem like herself”. He tracked the IP address (which rummaged through his archive for anything CC related), and then messaged Ari to ask if the IP address from his anon matched the IP of her anon. She confirmed that it was the SAME IP. I’m not sure why Ari would blame Alice and Jupiter for the harassing anons considering the IP address is located nowhere near the area where Alice and Jupiter actually live in LA.
Why would this anon be harassing Ari in the first place? And why would the timing just happen to coincide with the onset of Ari making negative comments about Ethan? Why would this anon care whether Ethan was being accused of these harassing comments and admit that he was writing them?
Shortly afterwards I got the message found below from Ethan and in a moment of clarity I realized how FUCKED UP the entire situation had gotten and proceeded to block him. I hate the fact that I was manipulated and used like this by Ethan, and ever trusting him remains one of my biggest regrets in life, but I hope that by coming forward I can help encourage others to come forward with any sketchy situations they might have experienced with him, as well as end the onslaught of harassment that this malicious piece of toxic waste seemingly continues to create.
