“Humankind cannot bear very much reality.” ― T. S. Eliot, Four Quartets
Painting: "Tired" by Ramon Casas
Didn’t know what to expect, but got last minute tickets to this fusion of Stravinsky and Kendrick Lamar and it was so well done! Very cool!
Those are my daughter’s nails. She has a friend who gives her a great deal and she loves her fancy nails.

It’s a gorgeous night for an outdoor ballet! Super excited for this.
Friday Five, Tickets version
Purchased tickets to see Foo Fighters and the LA Orchestra at Hollywood Bowl in August. The Hollywood Bowl is one of my favorite venues that I’ve been to!
Purchased tickets to see Journey in September here in Phoenix. Takes me back to middle school.
Tomorrow I have tickets for a class about tea at a local tea & coffee shop. Hopefully my son is feeling better, and will go with me.
Then tomorrow night I have tickets to see the ballet at the desert botanical garden. They were a gift from my other son and DIL.
My daughter earned a bonus that almost exactly covers the cost of her ticket to Copenhagen to visit a friend this summer. Serendipity.
And a long weekend to boot! Now to just finish the workday.
Happy Birthday to Mary Anning, the “Mother of Paleontology!” Born on this day in 1799, she hailed from Lyme Regis on the coast of Dorset, England, and grew up collecting fossils. At age 13, she unearthed a skeleton of a giant marine reptile, one of the first ichthyosaurs. In her late twenties, she discovered Dimorphodon, the first pterosaur found outside continental Europe, on the beach cliffs at Lyme Regis. At the time, headlines celebrated Anning and her “flying dragon.” Her discovery proved that these flying reptiles were varied and had a wide range.

height check. how tall are you people in my phone
Went to see this tonight. Very whimsical. Very enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Seen at the restaurant where we celebrated my son’s birthday last night.
Had some yummy New Mexican cuisine, but I was really there just for the sopapillas. And they were oh so good!!
Did a plant reset today. While I water regularly, every couple months I take them all to the kitchen, wipe down the stands, and rearrange the plants.
These 4 spots have the best light in the house.
My youngest successfully survived her first year of college. Finished exams on Thursday and bought herself a used Xbox today as a year end gift. (Kinda sorta. I think it just worked out that way. She’s been talking about it for more than 6 months — traded in her Switch. The Xbox we had broke a few years ago.)
My eldest (a teacher) is still looking for a new position. He was told his contract wasn’t being renewed back in March and has been hunting ever since. He teaches social studies, and populations all around us are declining. His last day is this week — I think he will consider taking the math certification and try for a math position. It’s a shame if that happens because he has such a passion for social studies / history. Or he may leave teaching all together. Another shame because he really loves it and seems to be great at it. Even if the money sucks.
Big project coming to fruition at work in the next 2 weeks. Something that started in September of 2025 - so I’m excited to be closing it out. And it also means I can stop working closely with a snake. That has been exhausting.

Even though he turns 24 tomorrow, in my mind’s eye he is still this tiny bundle.
Other than my son’s car accident, I had a lovely Mother’s Day. I always wanted to be a mom, and I got lucky with amazing kids who I’ve always enjoyed spending time with.
They all wrote thoughtful cards, got me presents that made me feel seen, and made my favorite foods. I am so very content with my life.
