text: [ “Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5000 years.” ]
And they're absolutely specifically pushing it, make no mistake. It's not just a matter of "it's there, it's convenient, so people are going to take the path of the least resistance", it is a legitimate and concerted effort on the part of these companies to get people to outsource all these things to their models.
They're preying on insecurities to do it. Yes, you can write an essay - but can you write a good essay, they ask you. Do you not want to improve your output? Do you not want people to think of you as competent and very clever? Why go through the mortifying process of failing and failing and failing until you succeed if you can just skip the "learning" part of doing, and simply generate a ready-made product?
I'm preaching to the choir here obviously but it's a concerning thing to witness nonetheless. My kid is 6 next week and I've been teaching her that failing at things is morally neutral and in fact necessary even before the advent of AI, but it's becoming ever more important that we teach the kids that criticism and failure and discomfort aren't necessarily bad things, but just a part of the growth process.
AI companies are heavily invested in making themselves relevant. They want people to believe they can't do the things they have done unaided before and to make them become reliant on the AI models, so the AI models' existence is artificially justified.
I promise you things will get so much better when you start processing people’s behavior as information rather than a verdict on your self-worth. If someone doesn’t text back, suddenly pulls away, whatever it may be, the solution isn’t to put on a tap dance for them and try to regain their approval. It’s not to crash out on them and try to force them to react a certain way. It’s just to take a step back, take a deep breath, and assess what this tells you. What’s this saying about them? What’s this saying about you??

“Do it scared” “do it alone” are all great tips, but my biggest takeaway from therapy is do it messy. This is especially true if you’re getting out of a burnout, which I experience often. Literally just do it messy. You don’t need to pick the perfect trail to walk, the perfect playlist to listen to, whatever the fuck it is. You don’t need to have a meticulous to do list and wake up at the exact time you planned and drink the exact amount of water you planned to drink. Like the biggest thing for people like me to remember is sometimes it’s okay to do it messy. Put on a random yt workout and just get it done in sweats. Do 5 minutes of a daunting task and go from there. Sometimes just getting up is a win during intense burnouts or depressive funks. Literally just do it messy.
I’m a stem grad student & my first semester was rough. When I was in undergrad I did not struggle at all, sailed through with perfect time management skills. But burnout is rough, especially burnout during grad school. I was contending with an intense course load and a lot of family things at the time. Things I found easy, like maintaining a meticulous schedule, compartmentalizing, working out, all became mountains to climb in a way I wasn’t used to. And my therapist’s advice was just to get back into it by doing it messy. Journal random thoughts when I feel like it, just do a random yt workout in sweats. It’s not pilates and it’s not me showing up with my pink bottle and matching set, but it’s still something done. And that’s okay. It’s not worth any less just because it’s not “pretty.” It’s still something. And if that’s what helps people accomplish things, it matters more than anything else. Do it messy. Do it messy is always better than don’t do it at all.

this clip makes me so emotional. i feel like this sometimes, at night especially. That the whole wide world may swallow me whole. That i’m wide-eyed in the face of God. that I’m not a victim of smallness but rather its loving disciple.

how to become disembodied pro tips
1. never exercise, don’t even go for a walk if you can help it
2. socialize online where no one can see your face and body or hear your voice
3. orgasm only when you’re alone watching a video of strangers having a scripted interaction
4. never make something. never even put a premade something together.
5. refuse to touch and be touched
6. get everything delivered
7. replace what you have lost with fantasies of a life
8. deny that you feel the loss

A lot of radfems on here just hate Arabs. There is an obvious bias on here towards Israel despite the mass genocide. You can’t say you support women and be okay with their rape and death because it was done by a white guy instead of a Muslim one. Because you act like they way Muslim women are treated is a tragedy until an Israeli does the same thing and then she’s a regressive, women hating Muslim who would kill her daughter if her husband asked so its for the greater good and oh well no real harm done.
An effect of mind control are random bouts of frustration with no true reason and a strong urge to lash out. Struggling to control yourself while thinking about doing/saying/feeling something is the basis. It is in their favor to destabilize your personal relationships to isolate you. Everyone will think you're just an angry/mopey person by nature and no one will want you. You think about your emotions and all thoughts can be manipulated.... Even in your most immediate circle there may be actors
