Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, the largest of Russian federal subjects, is a big chunk of eastern Siberia where parts of it located within the arctic circle, like Ust-Yansky district. Numerous Mammoth fossils have been found in this area, as they are known as a species that like to hung around frozen tundras, a point of pride for the residents of this district. Not sure if there is actually an indication that they’re purple-colored though, but their guess is probably as good as ours.
