first of all i havent ss'd the start of the fic but its very beautiful if i must say. VERYYYYY cool phrasing truly a way with words /gen. but this bit specifically i loveeeee because when i first read it, bc of the limbo setting, my mind was immediately shoved with the imagery of his past self, almost shadow or spirit-like, travelling on that train further and further away from him. idk to me adds to the inescapable nature of limbo, the train he cant get on, and how thats very similar to a past he cant get back. he cant chase in either direction, forced to be stagnant, and it can be represented very easily as the same thing. i like that a lot (i WILL be saying that quite a bit, get ready for 50x "i like that a lot)

oh i LOVEEEEEEEEE the switching between third and second person, always always always adore a good bit of identity fracturing with cwilbur OUGHHHH ITS SO GOOD
especially in regards to the switch between lmanberg and pogtopia? lmanberg, you can see the voice THE ACCUSER speaking to wil directly, in the second person, and its made clear that its a voice in his head, some version of himself that either loathes himself, twists his own actions, or sees deeper than he cares to admit, or some combination of the two. sees his deepest desires and motivations and latches on to the darkest ones. BUT THEN IN POGTOPIA its no longer a voice, its the whole narration, something like how the thoughts and voices became the backdrop of his entire world rather than a voice at the back of his head, to the point where they made up his reality. I DONT KNOW IF THIS mAKES SENSE ITS ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE DELUSIONS AND HIS WAY OF THINKING WAS ALWAYS THERE IT JUST WASNT OBVIOUS IN LMANBERG BECAUSE HE WAS ACTUALLY SUCCEEDING IN HIS GOALS AND THUS THE SPIRALING WASNT REALLY AS APPLICABLE AND SO ITS LIKE A VOICE IN THE BACKGROUND. BUT THE SECOND HE WAS FAILING THIS MINDSET CAME TO THE FRONT AND TOOK OVER HIS ENTIRE MIND. MAKING HIS REALITY THIS PLAY. I REALLY LVOE THAT I REALLY REALLY DO

WHAT A BANGER START YAYAYAYAYYY okay okkkkkayyyyy really love real vs imagined cuz its like. the most common theme for cwilbur esp in sunny stuff and i love how much duality it has. "real vs imagined" could mean alive vs dead, it could mean reality vs his delusions, it could mean the man he is vs the man he wants to be, wilbur is a character built on the duality of real vs fake and its SO clear here i love it
wilbur isnt capitalised here anymore, nor was it on the last, and instead of it being WILBUR SOOT, now it's 'just' Wilbur -- like the version we get here is more real, more raw, more honest in his emotions and wants and attuned with himself, and he isnt WILBUR SOOT, the main character with a role to play, hes Wilbur Soot, in a story with a narrator and roles, sure, but maybe the story is here, where he is, and hes not on the stage. idk this doesnt rly get my full message across. hes still a performer, he cant change his nature really, its always *there*, but theres a more contemplative nature brought about by years in limbo
