The US is crazy bc like so many people have intense conspiracy theories about the government like "I think there's a secret elite group of people who control everything" and you can tell them "actually you're not completely wrong, it's just not a secret group of people, it's a bunch of rich people and lobbyists who are doing it all out in the open" and they'll be like "hmmn I don't think it's THOSE people though. I prefer my racist & antisemitic theories"

They'll be like "I heard there's a powerful ring of pedophiles who are influencing the country" and you'll tell them "I mean yeah that's what the Epstein files are about" and they'll say "no I'm pretty sure this has to do with The Queers actually"

Conspiracy theory no one will ever accept: What if the people secretly controlling the world are the same people obviously controlling the world?

personally i think it's totally healthy for a gal to get hammered on her dead best friend's drink of choice while wearing her jacket/trademark eyeliner and hallucinate her and also have a mental breakdown in the streets screaming about how much she loved her before falling asleep holding the jacket because it's all she has left of her and it smells like her. yeah idk i think that's chill.

And yet, while everyone accepted it as The Way Things Have Always Been Done, Willow Rosenberg, of no born strength, refused destiny. For the girl she met at 15, Willow Rosenberg tore apart reality until her hands were blood covered. She carved apart the universe, called forth the greatest evil and rewrote the force of good. Just so her high school best friend had a chance at a happy ending. And I think that is incredibly real of her.

the reason buffy summers is a much better protagonist than a lot of the main characters in other teen supernatural shows is that those characters tend to be good people in a passive, boring way. they're generally nice and care about doing good, but they're rarely placed in situations where they have to make difficult decisions with no good outcomes, or pushed to extremes that force them to contend with the ugliest parts of themselves. btvs meanwhile is absolutely obsessed with the idea that passivity is inherently unethical. as such, in order for buffy to be a good person, she constantly has to make active choices. she never gets to be indecisive in the face of a moral dilemma. she always has to choose, to make tough calls, and that makes her genuine heroism and goodness far more compelling than a character who's just kind of passively nice.
