i do really love the idea that mason is the only one who can find corey, but also:
corey lives his whole life feeling invisible. he does what he's good at, hiding, and it works- he can escape from situations and nobody bothers to look for him. and it's fine, its completely fine- its not like he wants people to see him for who he is.
and then mason comes into his life and fucks up everything he's ever known. because he sees corey, even when corey feels invisible, even when corey is invisible. and suddenly, for the first time ever, corey feels loved.
but it doesnt just stop with him.
theo catches on pretty fast. he starts noticing the signs, starts realizing how many times corey turns invisible to spy on him. he doesn't say anything for a while, just lets corey watch. tries to prove he's not a threat. it all comes out when liam barges into the kitchen one day, and theo reflexively says, "don't step on corey".
and the other chimera is startled and angry, and maybe just a little embarrassed at being played. and he expects theo to laugh about it, to mock him, maybe, but theo just tells him to be careful and stay away from the stove, and corey thinks maybe he doesn't have to turn invisible to just... sit around and watch.
nolan's next. corey knows there's something up with him, ever since the hospital, something fishy, and he's going to figure it out if its the last thing he does. except everything backfires because, "what the FUCK are you doing in my house??"
so now corey's starting to get really worried that he losing his invisibility, because how the hell did nolan see him. and the human just snorts and tells him hypervigilance comes in the job description of paranoia. that, you know, the slightest shifts of air are easy to see when you're always watching. (corey does know).
alec starts picking it up slowly, and then hayden, and then gwen. it takes liam a while, but eventually even he can find corey. (its pretty helpful when they're fighting, like a secret weapon. they all know where the chimera is- with supplies or weapons or anything they may need- but nobody else does).
and sure, he may be a bit annoyed about the fact that he cant disappear in the snap of a finger anymore, but mostly, corey just wants to cry. because he has a pack, he has a family, he has people who know him well enough that they can spot him even when they cant see his physical form.
