Pairings: Dean Winchester/Reader
Hunting Redemption Masterlist - Winchester Masterlist
When you woke up, the warm body behind you was missing. You frowned,Ā hearing hussling in the tiny hotel room. When you finally opened your eyes, you saw the boys gathering their things. You sighed; you were still tired. "Okay." You whispered to yourself, climbing out of the twin-sized bed and ducking to grab your duffel bag. You picked a slimming outfit today, showing off your body type. You looked in the bathroom mirror fondly; your shoulders and body had never felt so relaxed.
Your mind then wandered to Dean; he wasn't asleep when you joined him last night. Every little touch was on purpose. You creased your expression in confusion. Finishing with brushing your teeth, you walked out to find the elder brother putting the last of his things in his own duffle bag. "Dean-" You started, but he cut you off. "We need to get going." He said straight to the point. "Get to the car." His words were short with you, and his hand did a chop through the air to finalize his words and any further questions from you. Your worried expression disappeared, you didn't say anything, just walked out to the Impala and sat in the back. It was clear he didn't want to have anything to do with you or talk about last night.
You were upset and disappointed. You didn't know why, you didn't care if Dean wanted to hold your hand or not. You scoffed to yourself, catching Sam's attention. And when Dean finally made his way to the car, face set in hard lines, Sam's interest only piqued more. Though he didn't say anything, you knew he wanted to ask. Maybe you were out of your league with this case.
Your hand ran down your face, and you looked out of the window. Trees passed by quickly, and on rare occasions, you'd see a deer or a fox pass by. "Y/n." Said Sam as Dean made a quick snack run. "You hungry? Dean's grabbing some food." You nodded in response, still feeling little spikes of rejection coursing through your body. "Hey uh-" He started again, "Do you know why Dean is-" Before he could finish his question, the aforementioned opened the door with a phone to his ear. "Yeah, Bobby, I'll make sure. Would you stop-" He sighed, the man on the other line no doubt cutting him off.
"Yes, she's- we're fine. Would you- Yeah, we're about 7 or 8 hours from there. Okay, yeah, I'll keep you posted. Bye." Only when Dean put his phone back in the glove compartment did he look at you through his rear-view mirror, annoyance clear within his expression. "So what's your relationship with Bobby again?" He asked as he pulled out of the parking lot. "He's a family friend, has been for decades."
The man driving grunted, "Sure seems concerned about you." You shrugged, "He's always been like that." The passing green and asphalt caught your attention once again as Dean figured out what to say to that. He didn't feel like you needed to be checked in on by Bobby; he was more than capable of looking out for you. Didn't Bobby understand that? "Dean," Sam said lowly, watching the white knuckling his brother was doing to the steering wheel. One look at his brother, and Dean relaxed; he was overreacting.
Deep down, he knew that, so he turned the radio on and heard his little brother groan. "Aw, Sammy, c'mon, house rules. So shut it." Sam smiled seeing Dean's own, so he sat back and let the rock and roll fill the car's silence.
When New York came into view, you put on your familiar stoic expression. Because when it came to Crowley, you had to pretend nothing got to you. You didn't know what type of interactions the boys had with the king of hell; you hoped they'd let you do the talking. You've been dealing with Crowley for over three years. "Have you dealt with Crowley before?" You threw it out in the open. "No, but I heard about him through Bobby." You were glad that you had asked.Ā
You calculated how this might affect them being in the room when you spoke with the king of the Crossroads. "When we get there, let me handle the talking. Might be better if I go in alone, too." The tone in your voice had dropped when it came to talking about Crowley. "No way," Dean said quickly, his own tone leaving little room for objection. "I've known the bastard for a long time. I know how he thinks. And not to be rude, but the last time you dealt with a demon, you lost a shit ton of years."
For some reason, at the reminder, you felt your own loss, like you were losing someone so dear to you that it physically hurt. You ran your tongue across your teeth and sat back with a sigh, "Okay, I don't have to be alone with him. Just- just let me do the talking." The silence after your previous comment made you feel ashamed; you stooped low, and now you felt bad.
When the car pulled over next to a huge private estate, Sam was the first to get out, Dean lingering back as the younger Winchester went to scope the area quickly. "Dean, I'm- i'm sorry." You apologized, finally. "It was the truth." He said, he'd been doubting his ability to get this job done ever since they'd started, "You can do the talking, just make sure we get the information we came for." The interaction was different than any of the two of you have had before, and you shrank with guilt. Sam came out with a disappointed face just after you and Dean's conversation ended. At his signal, the two of you got out of the Impala
"Seems clear so far." You nodded, walking in with the boys behind you. You'd strutted up to the gate and watched as a woman who looked like a secretary came to open it, her face holding a smirk. "The King has been waiting for you three to show up. EspeciallyĀ you." She has a pointed stare towards you, your jaw set, her eyes spread with black, her features splayed out playfully.Ā "Well, here we are. Open the gate, and we'll pull the car through."Ā
You said it sharply. She shook her head, "You'll have to walk, you should know Y/n he doesn't like to take risks like that. Winchesters are always loaded with protection."She finally addressed them after her statement and straightened her back to correct herself. "Oh, no worries, you're safe here. Lucky for you, he's called everyone off." She turned back to you. "He must have a soft spot for the bitch." You rolled your eyes and let her escort you to the correct room. The Scottish demon waved the three of you inside.
The decor of the room was flashy and overdone, only slightly dim as the moonlight made its way through the window. You expected nothing less from Crowley. "Y/n, darling! So good to see you." You 'hmm' at that, and the demon looked behind you. "And you brought guests." You walked to sit in the chair just a little away from his desk. "I came for information, Crowley." He gestured for the Winchesters to sit down as well, and they obliged. "Well, you know I don't just give things away now, do I?" You sighed, you had a feeling it was going to be like this, and if you had to get dirty with the dealings. Going so far as to bet on life's, then you'd do it. "Fine, let's make a deal."
