After a rough start of getting Simon to calm down and realize he isn’t in danger, the two realize they have a lot in common. Like a lot.

Some firm bonding happens, some from trauma, some more naturally. The two take solace in each other and further, they thoroughly enjoy each other’s company. Talking about the stars. Where they came from and how they got where they are now. How they both experienced betrayal and how they can only hope their sacrifices helped humanity. How neither expected to survive the trip. How they’re both alive despite the odds and here together despite everything they understand about the universe itself.

Like yes, he’s been an absolute dick to his staff lately and it’s not fun for me to see either. His coworkers do by all means deserve better. But saying he should actually commit to it is really gross.
