big fan of this guy.i really want him to appear in canto 10 he is SUCH a good abno to represent meursault both thematically and lore wise.
@t-01-54
HELLO! YES!!! I too have been saying this, for so many months now they have SO many parallels they kind of HAVE to put him into Canto X now, it would be completely out of the left field and such a missed opportunity if they just... Never delivered on it, never showed them interacting even... Or well, maybe in Walpurgisnight... Forsaken Murderer is the greatest guy in Lobotomy Corp ever, god I love him so much, even if I may be wrong about everything, godddddddd this guy
HOLY SHIT I was definitely not expecting to have someone be so passionate about one of my artworks specifically and I was definetly not expecting an entire account dedicated to my favourite lobcorp abno.
I have been feeling out of my mind for a year or so now, because I actually have not seen anyone else point out just how many parallels they have before (well. not entirely true, there was one person in the comments of the Regret Meursault demonstration video though they pointed out fewer than I did, then we had conversations with people on here but that mostly came after I started posting about it) and I don't understand how. They have so many parallels.
I'll even rant about it here if you do not mind
How did you literally just get everything and I mean EVERYTHING that I was thinking about out of my mind without me even uttering a word. I was also going to mention the thing with the head, imprisonment and light and darkness as well as the whole chain thing holy shit you read my mind it was exactly what I was thinking about theyre everything to me. Also regret ego makes meur resistant to gloom which kind of tells me a lot about how FM is used to this and how his entire life is based around this gloom but I'm probably just cornplating as of now
Oh no I think that is important too, even just the game mechanics have a lot to say, I think I didn't mention it because I forgot? Another rant it is then sorry
Regret is Resistant to Gloom and Fatal to Pride and Envy... I couldn't figure out what Gloom was but FM being used to it sounds really really right, like, he's already neck deep in Gloom adding more does nothing. Out of the two Sins he's Fatal to: Pride is being certain in your ways, the Sin which is "often connected to creation and technological advancement" which immediately makes me think of the Seed of Light and how researchers believed they had the right to do what they did to him. And Envy is basically vengeance, believing that what was done to you justifies what you do to others; or "a sense of resentment at another one's success". Which could be about how people hated him for having murdered people, and punished him for it, a sort of vengeance not on behalf of oneself but on behalf of another?
To resonate with the E.G.O Meursault needs Wrath and Pride. I think that the Wrath is kind of obvious, "indiscriminate and uncontrollable destruction", the thing FM resorts to. And Pride is possibly him trying to keep up the face he puts on, believing that as long as he does it he is not going to be hurt again, neither by his regret nor by other people? And I do believe a lot of how he is stems from not wanting to be hurt again
Interesting thing is that Meursault is also related to Pride and Gloom and Envy, though Wrath for him is replaced with Sloth which for an AMAZING reason I believe. I've seen someone put it that way, Wrath is wanting things to change and doing so through violent means, while Sloth is giving into outside forces and not deciding to change anything. Which perfectly and completely describes how they decide to cope with what happened to each of them. Forsaken Murderer uses Wrath, destroys everything around him, sort of destroying the order that was built up (ohhh this also feeds perfectly into my own opinions of where he came from), by channeling that same Wrath and also Pride, creating a certainty in his ways. Meursault also uses Pride but by creating an environment where he cannot be wrong because he just follows orders from others (as someone described him, "what if Nuremberg Defense was a guy"), by giving into others' commands and opinions (Sloth), and sinking into his own feelings of, perhaps, inadequacy in regards to making decisions (Gloom and Envy). His resistances are unrelated to Forsaken Murderer, he's Fatal to Lust (he can't handle others trying to force their opinions/desires onto him, like, "there was no reason to decline what they asked of me" in the book) and Gluttony (others always taking too much from him), but he endures Pride. Because, of course, he's prideful himself. Furthermore, as an addendum, Meursault wrote Observation Logs for the Gloom Peccatula which tells me he's really really deep in Gloom of his own too.
A thought came to my mind, by the way, E.G.Os usually have an endurance to their own affinity type, right? Forsaken Murderer's Regret is, in that case, Gloom masquerading as Wrath. I hope that makes sense because wow
Oh also wait. Can I compare IDs too? We don't have Regret ID for Meursault (yet hopefully) so Faust will have to do. Comparing that with Base Meursault
They both have Sloth on S1, Pride on S2, differ in S3 where Meursault has Gloom and Regret has Wrath, but Regret has Gloom on Defense skill whereas Meursault has Sloth. So the only thing really differentiating them Sin-wise significantly is the Wrath (which... I believe Meursault secretly has a lot of Wrath (as well as Lust) he is repressing... So really barely different) and also what they are affected by
In addition, ALL of those aforementioned things (except Chains of Others) have Tremor. I can't really analyze how Tremor as a status effect relates to them (for FM it is literally just a representation of the fact that if you were hit with a huge metal head you would probably be immobilized, for Meursault though? I don't know? we'll probably understand once we know what Meursault did in the past) but I can say that the presence of Tremor everywhere is consistent and makes them similar. Also interesting that Meursault binds others with his chains in Chains of Others, also binding himself. Sort of like Forsaken Murderer is bound, but that's neither here nor there
Oh and. A more minor thing, I don't think this has a lot of meaning but Regret buffs Coin Power while reducing Base Power (something something volatility? acting impulsively without a strong foundation?) and that resonates amazingly with Meursault's frequent multi-coin IDs. Again I don't think this has a deeper symbolic meaning it just goes to show that they are... good for eachother, if I may put it that way
I do not think this is cornplating, it seems more like intentional and smart game design of them resonating with eachother almost perfectly. Oh they really do mean so much to me. If Forsaken Murderer does not appear in Canto X I will be so so so upset, they are literally mirroring eachother, the people that did things to them might be different, their exact traumas might be slightly different, the ways they deal with things are foiling eachother, but they're the same guy deep inside. Ohh I am so insane about this. I need to go pace around. FM's meaningless destruction of what is usual for others (which is also found in Meursault's final lines in Part I of L'Etranger, "I knew that I had shattered the harmony of the day"), and Meursault's fully conscious conforming to the order of things (which is also found in FM with how he perpetuates the cycle of violence? he has links to Sloth too (such as Regret S1) but I can't quite figure out how to put it into words but AAGH). They are so parallels. I think I am losing my mind. I am growing more and more certain in Forsaken Murderer appearing because this all couldn't have been unintentional or unknown to PMoon, right? They are the people who put an Arbiter into Canto VIII. They know their foreshadowing and parallels. Oh my god please do not let this be overanalyzing.
YYES YEA YES TRUE TURE TRUE like yesterday I was thinking about how both Meur's ego and Gregor's base ego, while being pride and sloth, do not require pride and sloth resources to actually activate. Hmmm I wonder if this means something hmmmmmm
Also I was revisiting ID voice lines and Camillesault using the streams as a way of having people peer into him and judge him fucked me up so bad
