Do you ever get so angry at those people who are always putting themselves down? Not the ones who obviously do it for attention, but people who genuinely believe they are never good enough and never will be? I want to grab those people by the shoulders, shake them around, look deep into their souls, and explain to them how wonderful they are. You don’t have to excel at everything you do. If you go into something with a positive attitude and come out knowing you have done the best you could, what is there to be upset about? So what if you failed that chemistry test? I’ll bet several other people did, too. And that job you wanted so badly but never got? Take a step back and look at the other options you have now; there very well could be a different path in front of you that you hadn’t seen before. How about the “failed” relationship you still feel guilty about? That other person is obviously not meant to be with you at this point in your life; take time to focus on yourself, find a way to let that guilt go, and reassess the relationship when you are able to do so with a clear conscious. Most of all, people who feel this way need to realize they are worthy of all the best things in life. Love yourself, respect yourself, be yourself.
