"But what was sort of really important for me to get, and I think it is there in the final edit, but I certainly was insistent with Lucy (director) that I showed the madness of what's actually happening, which is someone dancing out of rhythm, hardly catching his breath, having just rudderless, directionless chaos. It's actually a nightmare he's living. That in a way was some of the mask work or slips of character... There is joy, there is a sort of fantastical element to it, but it's never safe. There's always a danger to it and he's very vulnerable. All the chaotic behavior around him is also balanced with joy."
