Bhuvaneshwari Gayatri Mantra

The Bhuvaneshwari Gayatri Mantra is the Gayatri Mantra dedicated to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari. Bhuvaneshwari is the fourth Upasana Devi in Dasa Maha Vidyas and she is known as “Sutha Vidya”. Her beej (beeja /seed) is Hreem. She bestows divine knowledge to the “Sadaka” to transfer his outward sight to inwards by de-focussing and she also augments his worship from Saguna to Nirguna.

Goddess Bhuvaneshwari who is also known as Bhuvana and Bhuvaneshwari Devi or Bhuvaneshwari Maa is depicted having four arms. She carries an Angusa and Paasa (Cord) in her two arms. While her third and the fourth ones depicted in Varada Mudra (Boon Giving) and Abhaya Mudra (Protection). She is pictured sitting in a lotus flower, radiating in her face – the luminescence of thousands of Suns.

Bhuvaneshwari is the creator of the five elements which is also known as Panchabhootha and the seven worlds. The Saptha Matrika (Seven Mother Goddesses) are said to have been emanated from her beeja mantra : Hreem (Hreemkara). She dwells in the Manidweepa which is well above and beyond the Brahma Loga, Kailaya, and Vaikunda.

Goddess Bhuvaneshwari Devi can be worshiped by chanting the Bhuvaneshwari Gayatri Mantra and Bhuvaneshwari Gayatri Mantra.

The bhupura is of yellow colour symbolizing knowledge. The eight petals represents the four pairs of opposite experiences : merit and demerit, right and wrong, attachment and detachment, as well as mastery and slavery. The inner circle of eight petals represent the five elements (Panchabootha) and the three Guna (Sattvic, Tamasic, and Rajasic). The six pointed star represents a balance of opposites. The Bindu in the center of the star is Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, herself.

Where To Chant The Bhuvaneshwari Gayatri Mantra

This mantra should be chanted facing either East or North while seated on either the Northeast or East quadrant of your house or puja room.

Naivedya / Nivedhyam / Prasadham (Food Offerings) For Bhuvaneshwari

One can offer sweet prasads such as sweet pongal and traditional sweets. Apart from that, pure cow’s milk sweetened with jaggery can also be offered as naivedya. Small quantity of honey (a tablespoon will do) or anything sweet made with honey too can be offered to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.

Besides that, just a handful or a small piece of jaggery and/or rock sugar too can be offered as naivedya (nivedhinam) to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.

Flowers / Plants For Bhuvaneshwari

Any fragrant flowers such as Jasmine and Marigold can be offered. Pink/Red Champa and Pink/Red Rose can be offered (though, pink lotus flower is the most auspicious to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari). Besides that, any red or pink coloured flowers too can be offered.

*Never ever offer artificially (chemically) coloured flowers to Gods.

Fitting with these themes, Chitra's shakti (power) is to accumulate merit in life, resulting in gaining honor from one's own work. Well, how does this translate in the modern world? It's not always benevolent....actually, the dark side of this nakshatra is absolutely horrific. I'm not exaggerating here when I say that this one nakshatra DOMINATES among politicians in general---especially those who commit mass atrocities against humanity.

Chitra, in a more negative sense, can invoke a perfectionism oriented towards others, a desire to craft their ideals into the world. Chitra natives are deeply passionate about how society should be run and enforced. While this isn't bad by itself, in an evil politician, it can lead to an attraction towards brutal, systematic violence enacted against opponents along with adopting ideologies which (1) justify this use of violence to maintain power above all else, and (2) venerate the leader's own demographics (ethnicity, race, religion, culture, etc.) as superior to outsiders.

ashleshas is a mercury nak but it is in a cancer rashi that is ruled by the moon. the moon is a very sensitive and powerful placement (even if say more powerful than the sun placement in vedic) as it rules your mind and emotions (which ultimately influence the way you act and perceive the world which motivates the way one acts). cancer also resides in the 4th house which is normally considered to be private (all moshka houses are 4th, 8th and 12th) so all cancer rashis (punarvasu, pushya, ashlesha) deal with themes that are more private anyways.

the mercury just adds to the paranoia ashlesha’s face. it’s the only shakti that talks about preservation or attacking someone (or something internally too). there’s a lot of pain ashlesha placements go through and they are EXTREMELY sensitive (moon and mercury at a play) to other people’s energies, and ashleshas also being the most vulnerable out of the cancer rashis (due to the snake association as snakes even though are vicious are extremely vulnerable due to their size and the only thing they can do to protect themselves is to bite someone) and if that means constantly keeping yourself on defense to protect yourself then so be it. but not a lot of people understand that (nor do they have to i guess “hold space” whatever) but i find it interesting that this characteristic is hated towards ashlesha women more than ashlesha men (even though i do hear ashlesha men being talked about negatively time to time but not in the same breath as ashlesha women).

the traits of being closed off and self protective is frowned upon for women, especially as the world makes it so women are constantly defenseless in order to be manipulated and at worst, harmed (i.e the fetish of women being extremely underweight as they can’t defend themselves against men). most women look at other women who act this way and think to themselves “why can’t they do xyz..” and or why can’t they be nicer? but ashlesha’s theme (nagas being apart of the underworld, snakes attacking when most vulnerable, poisonous nature for healing and harm) of being constantly vulnerable, it’s easier to be safe than sorry!

But I feel it also goes back to misogyny. Being cunning, and cold in women is automatically demonized. Cause it’s so foreign, women are expected to be sacrificial, giving, and accommodating. i had struggled with this ever since i began my spiritual journey at the age of 18. granted that at that age i hadnt understood or embodied sensuality or femininity, i felt like being spiritual meant letting go of all desire and going into monk mode and it stressed me out when i couldnt live up to that ascetic image

and let me tell u something, the male spiritual path is the ascetic one that refrains from indulgence and lives like a stoic monk. men live in a world where they're treated like kings, so it makes sense for their spiritual path to be one where they refrain from it and restrict their own enjoyment of things (there are a lot of things you're forbidden to do etc)

however,,, women??? we no longer live in an era of matriarchal cultures and global goddess worship,, this is a man's world that we inhabit. our spiritual path is more so about relaxing into our own energy and forging our path in this world by doing things our way, away from the limitations imposed on us by Yang energy. women already live restricted lives, the female spiritual path is one of immersion and expansion because the universe is Yin (energy of creation and expansion)

its REALLYYY hard to find spiritual wisdom and teachings that are specifically catered to the female path because mainstream understandings of spirituality is male centric like everything else in the world :///

but no you dont have to sever ties with your femininity and sensuality in order to be spiritual,,, women are understood as being innately sexual (men sexualise us for just existing),, since men are tempted by everything they see (be it power, money, glory or women),, they have to detach from all of it to find the peace or whatever

women live highly restricted lives because men/patriarchal society see us as being inherently sexual and therefore a target for abuse. we CANNOT sever ties with our sensuality the way men can with theirs because its not inherent to them because Yang energy is NOT the energy of creation, they just exist, thats all,, they dont have an inwardly expansive quality, thats why they go around conquering things and establishing dominance in other ways (rising up the corporate ladder to seeking control over mother nature etc) they have to externalise this because internally they are empty.

women have interior lives and a big focus of female centric spirituality is living in harmony with it. i think rn there is a feminine energy renaissance albeit in silly ways ("im just a girl" etc entering the pop lexicon and that being okay??)

this means reclaiming all the things society shames you for being/having. embodying the full spectrum of being a woman and living whole heartedly. if we look at goddesses, there are fierce aggressive Goddesses like Kali, Matangi, Dhumavati etc and more gentle ones like Tripura Sundari, Lakshmi, Bhuvaneshwari etc so being a woman is not just sunshine and rainbows. embodying feminine energy isnt just wearing pink and being a soft girl,,, a woman contains multitudes and society makes us think we have to be one thing or another, when the truth is, we can be ALL.

how i manage to be feminine/sensual AND spiritual is by focusing only on Yin centric spirituality and understanding that for a woman, sensuality and spirituality are interconnected deeply and profoundly. the world tries to rob us of it bc they want us to be sexual creatures on THEIR terms. but the true power remains in understanding that power is inherent and we can channel it our way without regard for pleasing anybody or giving anyone pleasure.

shakti energy is no joke, once u tap into it, you feel so aligned and connected to everything.

i cant be a man or do what men do 🤮🤢(derogatory) and this Yang rat race and culture is just setting us up for failure. we have to find ways to live our truth in this world without opting for the traditional path. because when we try to be like men, we are disconnected from our true essence and fail every time.

This is the dark glory of Mother Kali, and she should be feared as much as she should be respected. 

So why do I call her mother if she does not act motherly? Because Kali is the one who brings the birth of the crushed forms, allowing them to reshape themselves into things that are better, or else they become nothingness. She “nurtures” me in her raging destruction, as her burning red eyes pierce my soul. Kali does not create or preserve, but her destruction gives me the chance to recreate myself. She slices away at my false self, causing pain until I realize who I really am. And she slices away at the world, causing chaos until we realize the lies we tell ourselves about our own lives. Then she shouts, telling us to rise with a voice like thunder- not because she loves us, but because this is what we must do.
