I’ll always stand by the idea that Harry and Albus clash so much because they’re basically the same you already know that. But I was thinking about that part in the play where Albus changes the past and, when he comes back to the present, he finds himself in Gryffindor. Only to realise, to his disappointment, that absolutely nothing has changed! He still argues constantly with Harry, he’s still desperate to prove himself, and he’s still best friends with Scorpius.
And then come all those endless “what ifs”: what if Harry hadn’t bumped into Draco before school? What if Ron hadn’t laughed at him? What if Harry had gone to Slytherin? And so on, and so on.
In the end, it would all have turned out exactly the same, no matter the house. He’d still be true to his own ideals, fiercely loyal, and intolerant of bullies. He’d still be the Harry who has lots of female friends, who talks to his owl as if she were his older sister, who’s hot-headed and lashes out when pushed. The same Harry who would defend Ron in any situation, even if they hadn’t become friends straight away, because that’s simply who he is.
And with Albus, it played out the same way. He still refused to stick with Rose and the Gryffindor crowd, he still befriended the “least popular” boy in Slytherin, he still defended him, and he still fought to keep their friendship alive.
Bottom line: I love my boys <3
