I personally feel like Noel’s mum wasn’t telling them to tone it down because she was homophobic she was doing it to protect him she struggled at first to accept him but did eventually because she loves them she wanted him to be able to live without being bullied by everyone around them she just wanted him to be safe in a town that wasn’t accepting of gay people I believe that Noel’s mum loved him more than anything in the world
