I remember the time i was chit chatting with an anti who's brain was so smooth that literally every medically/legally sourced article i sent them...Just slipped right off their brain.
Lemme break it down for you
They asked how and why people enjoy taboo fiction. Someone else responded and they got back at the person who gave them a video essay about it.
I step in and say "theres many reasons, such as coping, damage control, or just enjoyment." I even said id send them an article about it.
Keep in mind this anti has told ppl to kill themselves over fiction before.
They proceed to call me weird for my statement. I send them the article. I explain how fiction is the safest and most controlled way for people to carry out their taboo fantasies. I used myself as an example talking about how non con fanfic helped me find peace among my sa trauma.
They once again complained about how they didn't understand how it was helpful. So I sent another article and I mentioned a book about an author writing a fictional story that contained his trauma. I said it was the same principle even with self indulgent taboo fanfic because the fiction is in a controlled setting.
They said the book and my statement didn't correlate because the author didn't romanticize his trauma in his book. I said that the reasons people write fiction and how they do it varies from person to person. I told them that even if the fiction is romanticized, its still a controlled setting.
Again didn't believe me and pulled an anti classic. "You're just into kids and rape." I sent them an article about how their desire to censore fanfic is incredibly harmful to free speech overall. It was a source that sited literal u.s law. I live in the u.s so I was basing this convo off of the laws i know. I even told them this desire for censorship can actually hurt victims more than help. I sent a source.
And you'll never guess this...they didn't believe me. They also said it was irrelevant for me to being up censorship when it was what the main post was about. We were just yammering in the comments.
Atp i just blocked them because people who refuse to do research piss me off. None of the sources I sent them were blogs, or social media posts, or even mentioned the pro/anti debate.
They were all sources with medial facts, tips from victims, sited law, direct quotes from therapists and psychologists....but the random anti on tumblr knows all ig...
