would they do the thing elephants do? decide we're cute and pick us up sometimes? is that why they carry off princesses?

For some reason this reminds me of how T. Gondii makes mice charge and dance in front of cats, which the cats find disturbing instead of triggering their hunting instincts.

Oh my god we need a fantasy book series where there are people who are so enthralled with dragons, drawn to them like cave divers are drawn to crawl into cracks in the earth, that they have created dragonriders. Not taming dragons, but humans and dragons who have managed to somewhat mutually domesticate each other, and this whole time it was all a magical toxoplasmosis that really really wants to get eaten by a dragon.

This is relevant to art also because it is becoming increasingly difficult to find reference images online during simple searches.

Honestly, it's hard to even get annoyed at some of the folks who come blundering into creative discussions like "this is literally just [thing that does not even slightly resemble what's being proposed]" because their reaction is so clearly the product of an embarrassing lack of literacy. It's like trying to discuss early 20th Century literary fantasy with someone who genuinely can't distinguish between Conan the Barbarian and The Wizard of Oz – at some point you've just gotta feel bad for them!

This also happens for discussions of simple pragmatic matters of everyday life. There's no polite way to say "thank you for your suggestions but I specifically requested the opposite of this."
