I love how so many of these things end in stuff like “go raise your children” “go drive your minivan” “go cook a casserole” theyre so close to saying “stay in the kitchen where you belong”

remember when everyone was reading the hunger games and one of the major themes was how the media toned down all the horrible things that were happening to focus on the bullshit love story and then the books got made into movies and the real life media toned down the horrible things that were happening to focus on the bullshit love story because I still think about that sometimes

don’t forget how the media also sold Capitol-inspired nail polish and remixed the hanging tree song, a song about a guy committing suicide, and played it repeatedly on the radio

this pandemic will end and you’ll claim the window seat in your favorite cafe, stand in a crowd at a concert, visit a museum and make crappy art in the park. sometimes things feel like they’ll go on forever, sometimes bad things feel heavier than good things, sometimes life feels like it’s slowing down and all you’re doing is waiting for the full stop— but just because this hopelessness is all that you’re feeling right now, doesn’t mean that it’s all there is. there’s always more and you will experience that, and you will feel alive again.

just thinking of how our meaning or purpose in life is merely to experience. eating an orange segment, hoping for snow, being in love, returning over and over to one painting, stepping outside for the full moon, submersion in water, having a favourite colour, knowing beauty, feeling alone, feeling connected, feeling longing… it is enough.
