Hey everyone! Hope y'all have had a great winter break! My first semester at university is starting next week, and while I am excited to begin pursuing my Bachelor's degree, I cannot help but feel terrified at the state not only my country, but the world, is in.
I like to stay as anonymous as possible online, but the city I was born and raised in, the city my family has lived in for generations, is a big target for ICE right now. Even though I am a citizen, I am aware that my appearance could make me and my family a target, and that in and of itself is terrifying. I don't want to leave my home- hell, I don't even feel entirely safe in my own home.
As we settle into the Spring semester, and as this awful presidency continues, I just want to remind everyone to stay safe. Remember your rights, even if they may be disregarded by these modern day slave catchers. Stay informed, and look out for your fellow human being. We all deserve to feel safe here, and it's infuriating that that is not the case.
It is of my belief that education, unity, and action are the biggest opponents to fascism. Stay informed, stay together, and don't let them win.
I know that it's hard, but we have to have hope that things will get better, because without that hope to drive us forward, we will become stagnant, and that lead to failure.
Stay safe everyone, and I hope we all have a good semester. :)

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing well. My semester just started a week ago and things are already a bit rough- but that's okay! May we all get through this fall together!
It's easy to feel demoralized, especially when you compare yourself to your classmates. My classmates this semester are all SO cool! They're all already established in their prospective careers. Meanwhile I am stuck as a birthday party host at a popular children's rat mascot pizza arcade I will not name, and have yet to start shadowing or have found a job in the same field as my prospective career. I'm trying to get through my associate's degree, and then hopefully I'll get a job as a tech somewhere.
Things will get better, for myself, and for all of you who may be in a similar predicament as I am.
