I can't stop thinking how different her character could have turn if Zutara happened.

We know dragons were still around and Zuko gets his eventually, so naturally Katara would bond with her own too; since they would be raised toguether.

Just adding her dragon companion to facilitate her mobility through the nations in order to continue her vigilante activities it's already so Katara coded.

Katara was the best watter bender of her generation, she was crucial to end the century long war, and the nations needed restoration and healing after the war ended.

Her motto literally was: "I will never, ever turn my back on people who need me".

So what if instead of being relegated as just "the Avatar's girlfriend" who didn't even get her own statue and became a stay at home mom wasting her talents; she would have become royalty and get to be on power to actually make the big moves and use her full potential?

The last watter bender from the South ruling the fire nation would have been poetic justice.

I can't think of a better diplomatic move than to unite water and fire nation through marriage and make Katara the main ambassador between them.

Zuko has canonically showed he follows Katara's lead.

And the fire nation was keen to put women on power if they were capable; so we know Zuko would have granted all Katara's requests and listen to her suggestions regarding political decisions. She would have accomplish so much with those resources and forces at her command.

Like fighting radical groups within her tribe like the Wolf Cove thiefs and raiders and the foreign workers who were harrasing locals or even the Ozai's society (to mention some from the Books/Manga) but there are plenty.

And also supporting her father Hakoda to rebuild and protect the Southern tribe and restoring the peace among nations.

After all, she did help Zuko defeat Azula on the last Agnikai; she deserved that crown 👑 and her own statue..

I like the new height difference between Kataang.

Katara used to be the one hunching down to match Aang's stature, and now she has to tip toe to reach him..

Aang has always being a certified pretty boy, but giving him a tall athletic build with that face was.. 😘👌✨

I mean.. 👀

"Let's talk about the upgrades on Sokka's character from NATLA"

He is still the comedy relief on the show but minus the pessimism and negativity.

Because instead of a small minded sexist boy whit alpha warrior complex they made him an emphatic, emotionally available, receptive man open to learn and choose a different path from his father.

On Season 1 instead of being a burden and acting like Katara's child while simultaneasly demanding respect; he was actually a good brother to her.

He followed her advice, trusted her, supported her, and even gave her words of affirmation when she confronted Paku.

We never saw him properly grief Yue on ATLA, and honestly it was disrespectful how he move on so fast and was already kissing Suki on the serpent's pass. And latter flirting back with Ty lee and making innapropiate rhymes in a female's poetry club (wich is why boys hype up his character as a "back bender" ew 🤢)

But on On Season 2 NATLA he takes his relashionships seriously and shows PTSD from loosing Yue and shows how powerless he felt for not protecting her. So it makes sense how he is worrying and feeling anxious about the safety of Katara and Suki who are constantly risking their lives on every battle.

It was so wholesome how he opened up with Katara about their grief for their mother and Yue (while drinking cactus juice). 😅

Also, their sibling dynamic it's on point always bantering and teasing each other..

He awkwardly avoided Suki at first but his relashionship with her it's already looking more serious since he is healing before accepting her feelings for him.

Did I mention this Sokka expressed his liking for shopping, purses and refined silk fabrics? He is a confident guy with good taste ✨👌

Anyway, I love that NATLA remove his misoginy; they made Sokka likeable.. his ability to bond with side characters like Sai, and the lowkey bromance with the Professor were nice, he even offers to listen to Aang's worries and acts like a reliable older brother now.

That's all..

Season 2 NATLA served! 💅

I enjoyed the show, and was pleasingly surprised with most of the plot twist..

Of course nobody can replicate the original but this is an ADAPTATION; wich means by definition that they adjusted and modified the story in order to fit their budget and the short time run for each episode.

As an ATLA fan I'm super grateful and happy to see content being made decades latter..

If I can appreciate doddles of fan made art; I don't see why I wouldn't appreciate a production like the one working on this project. 👏👏👏

Aang reached out for the pocky flame snacks and Zuko grabbed his arm and suggested a fun way to share it 😏

..If you catched the reference; Hyunjin told this to Felix (on a different context) and my fujoshi brain took over.. so that was the inspiration.

Because I'm still sulking that Aang was nonchalant, detached and didn't even hug back Katara on the movie..

Why is he even acting like she can't possibly understand him when she IS the last water bender from the south; and unlike him who skipped the worst events of the war; SHE saw her people killed on real time and her own mother burned right in front of her eyes.

I'm not even gonna address everything wrong with his character development after ATLA; I know the plot of this movie was about emo Aang missing his nation but; they forgot cannon Aang was the type of lover boy who was allucinating kissing Katara even at the verge of a nervours break down, right before his final battle with the Fire Lord during Sozin's comet 💀🔥

The same Aang who dismissed Cosmic power even if it meant risking the remaining nation's survival just so he could be devoted to his love for Katara, just saying..

I don't claim this stoic selfish version of him, honestly ATLA's Aang is the only version of him I like.. everything they did with his character afterwards it's.. questionable to say the least.

Bring back devoted lover Aang.. 😭

"The monks didn't prepare Aang to battle temptation"..

I've seen many people loosing their temper fighting for wich ship it's better, getting too serious, making up excuses to defend a character's poor behavior (as a result of bad writting) and just being a menace on the fandom; meanwhile some of us are just enjoying the fanfics, fan arts and theories because why not take both? 😏

What? wait.. I meant on different time lines, or alternative universes idk 😅

This are fictional characters so I just choose a fictional solution; love bending. #Zukataang 🤷🏻

[An alternative ending to Katara’s life changing trip with Zuko]

On an episode that started with Zuko throwing himself up to protect Katara from a stone ceiling falling apart, landing on his own body to cushion her fall, and then placing her on his side to shield her from the remaining scattering rocks.

And as they all scape from Fire nation ships and Zuko is falling from the sky Katara reachs for him and pull him back to safety..

Ever since he joined the Avatar team, the tension around Katara was evident; so naturally, he followed after her when she suddenly took off during a bonfire chatter with the group.

They were both standing near a cliff under the moonlight; 

Zuko: “Everyone else trust me now, so what’s with you?”

Katara: “I was the one who trusted you first, but you betrayed me”.

Zuko didn’t make any excuses but instead he seemed remorseful;

Zuko: “What can I do to make it up to you?”

She left after screaming at him;

Katara: “Maybe you can reconquer Ba Sing Se or bring my mother back!”.

After being given impossible tasks he went to Sokka to understand better what happened to her mother; as he recalled that she mentioned it before too, back when they were imprisoned together on that cave: 

Sokka: “what’s on your mind?” 

Zuko: “your sister, she hates me.. and I don’t know why but I do care what she thinks of me”.

So after hearing the details he knows who did it and how to find him so he waits outside Katara’s tent the whole night thinking; “she needs this; this is about getting closure and justice”.

As soon as she wakes up and step out of her tent her eyes meet his; and he starts explaining, but she agreed before he even could finish his long rehearsed speech.

So latter after fighting his own fire nation soldiers and following every lead to the man responsible for Katara’s mother dead; even when she couldn’t take his life, still she got her closure.

She was overwhelmed with everything, the huge weight of that painful memory wrapped on rage had finally subside, and the many ways in wich she has felt touched by Zuko’s actions up until that point..

Her heart was pounding abnormally faster (her thoughs; “is it because of the full moon and the rush of power and emotions all at once?” I just..)

Katara: "I’Il never forgive him, but I am ready to forgive you".

She muttered those words as she leaned in and kissed him.

He was utterly shocked and flustered, but the familiar warmth of her hands on his face melted him right away, so he instantly kissed her back and thought to himself;

Zuko: “(Oh I see, this is why I felt restless about the idea of her hating me, I liked her all along)”..

Because Aang it's a certified lover boy who gaved up Cosmic universal power over his devoted love for Katara; and I was infatuated with his puppy love when I first watched ATLA.

Aang made me have a thing for "good boys" with pretty faces 😍 and then my obssesion with blushing shy guys scalated into something else but I won't get into it, don't jugdge me.. 😅

I can totally see how he would be teasing his "sifu hotman" and would be dragging him around on his "life changing trip with Fire Lord Zuko", (so this is them at the Market packing lots of food for the trip).

And since Aang it's a certified cuddle bug; I think they would be cute toguether, the golden retriever and the black cat combo.
