World of Azarignion

Surrounded by the deepest of oceans shrouded by fog lies the known world called Azarignion. Amongst the old growth groves, winding rivers, stunning peaks and hot springs, there live people who trusted the world, and the world trusted them in return. The people of Azarignion have lived in relative peace for centuries. But times have changed. Dark clouds are forming on the horizon, and things are changing. Nothing can be taken for granted anymore.

Welcome! Azarignion is a Minecraft roleplay server set in the genre of high fantasy, designed from the ground up to make an engaging world while still allowing player choices to affect the story. The world is merely a canvas for the players' masterpiece.

What to expect from Azarignion?

Azarignion contains nine different countries that a character can join, each of them with their own take on governing their land. Characters will be able to change those countries with their actions, forming alliances, starting wars or switching out the people in charge.

Characters will be able to found their own settlements and start their own major factions, which includes countries.

There are planned events to engage the characters against a certain threat, which may be the consequence of another character's actions.

The magic of Azarignion depends on faith, with each major faith having its own ritual magic system. As the moon and stars change, magic waxes and wanes with them, making timing crucial for casting.

The world is designed to be grandiose, with plenty of exploration opportunities and attention to detail in the initial map.

There are plenty of secrets in the mists...

Starting on the first proper build - the Flawless Terraces terrain! The idea is to have these massive towers of built-up travertine from the hot springs that cascaded down the previously rocky terrain and formed terraces. They're vaguely inspired by the Pamukkale terraces in Turkey, but given some additional grandeur due to this being considered a holy site in the native faiths of the Meiyang people.

This isn't done, obviously. What you're seeing below is a blockout that I'll work on further tomorrow, as it is, unfortunately, getting late. I've attached the inspiration collage below so you all can see what it will roughly look like in the future!

The Flawless Terraces will have a key pilgrimage object - the Luminous Sanctuary. While just to whom this sanctuary was dedicated has been lost to time, the extraordinary "flora" and grand temple complex built on top of the hot springs still bring in plenty of pilgrims. The Sanctuary staff don't mind, they have even constructed extra buildings for different deities just to get more donations from the traveling faithful...
