What are some scenes you find interesting you feel I should check out? (Anime and cartoons prefered)

Here are some good examples to look at:

If you’ve ever wondered why modern films look like garbage, it’s because unlike these films they are afraid to push colors to their extremes (or sometimes at all) or afraid to have dark/obscured shots or different/odd angles for the camera. ALL of these things contribute to the mood of the film.

As far as manga setting a mood, things get significantly harder because you don’t have color to work with: just shadow.

Something that may prove more useful than studying individual panels is studying entire pages, the flow of them, the use of black vs white spaces/shading, and how they are set up for the most impact.

The ending panels of shock mean nothing without the lead up, the HUGE and dark special effects noise, and the ‘emphasis’ lines around the first panel:
