The human conscience is often much more moral than human religion and the laws created by religious people.

Consider a Mexican family living in poverty near the border with the United States. The parents have a moral responsibility to provide the best life possible for their children. They have extremely limited resources and almost no potential for future improvements.

The church tells them that effective birth control is immoral, even though they are already unable to provide for the children that they have. If they follow church teaching, they will have a family of ten malnourished, poorly clothed kids.

Church and government conservatives tell them that they must respect the political border that separates their family from the United States. But the only chance for a better life lies across the border.

The truly moral parents must use birth control when they can not provide for children.
