biography:
Born to a witch and a wizard, both muggleborns, Fiadh has always felt like she lived between two worlds. Both of her parents wanted to ensure their daughter had a connection to the muggle world, to the confusion of their magical friends, and when she was younger she spent much of her time with her cousins and grandparents and attended a muggle primary school, while living in Kenmare, Co. Kerry within its magical community to keep connected with the Wizarding World.
She knew from an early age that she had to keep the magic side of her life secret from muggles. It wasnât difficult for her, if only because she was very quiet to begin with. Her early teachers expressed that they would be almost concerned for her, except she didnât seem unhappy and did have some friends to sit with at lunch. When she graduated primary school, she told her muggle friends she was going to join her sister at a boarding school.
Her sister, Blathnaid, was a lifeline for Fiadh, and always had been. Three years apart, the sisters were both incredibly different and similar. Blathnaid was the louder, more outgoing of the two, adventurous and extroverted. Despite their differences, the pair got along like nothing else. Fiadh always appeared more relaxed when her sister was around, and knowing she would be at Hogwarts with her made the whole daunting experience a lot less terrifying. They were in the same house even, so Fi never felt alone.
Their father worked for the Irish Ministry of Magic, specifically in their International relations department, liaising with his counterparts in the British Ministry. Daire was also a Hogwarts alumnus, and had been outspoken since graduating about the treatment of Muggleborns and Muggles in the Wizarding World. But he is a hard-worker, and despite his more controversial opinions he had gained himself respect from enough people in the right places to continue to move up in the Ministry. As tensions grow, instead of backing down, he found himself advocating more and more for those with less power than himself, and even those on his side have warned him to be careful, lest it attract the wrong attention.
Although Blathnaid is no less passionate than their father, Fiadh was extremely grateful to have her as a shield against the backlash from Daireâs politics at Hogwarts. This became harder since Blathnaidâs graduation, and subsequent move to Northern Ireland. She tried to ignore it, pretending it didnât affect her, trying to be strong like her sister and her father.
While Fiadh doesnât see herself as strong, she has a quieter strength. She is sensitive and soft, but she has stayed this way despite efforts to make her otherwise. She sees the good in others first and foremost, and has a more forgiving nature than many. Sheâs quiet, but there is passion in her. It just takes more to draw it out. Those who she is comfortable around see a different side to her.
One such person, unbeknownst to many, is Regulus Black. The two seem an unlikely pair, but they have been dating in secret. Starting as friends after meeting in a shared class, the two slowly morphed into a relationship. She sees a side of him he isnât permitted to show to the world at large, he sees a side of her she doesnât feel comfortable letting many see. The secrecy can be hard, but she doesnât mind; Fiadh trusts Regulus.
An area in which is it easier to see this passion in her is Care of Magical Creatures. While Fiadh doesnât always find it easy to be around people, too quiet or shy, she enjoys the presence of magical creatures. One of the people she most admires is Newt Scammander, and his dedication to protecting and documenting magical creatures.
