( cis man | he/him | chace crawford ) —— isn’t that STURGIS WILLIAM PODMORE? yeah that is them, outside the three broomsticks! they used to be in HUFFLEPUFF but apparently they now work as a CONSULTANT in the DRAGON RESEARCH & RESTRAINT BUREAU - DEPARTMENT FOR THE REGULATION AND CONTROL OF MAGICAL CREATURES (BEAST DIVISION).sybill once said that they reminded her of deep melodic laughter, calloused hands that have roughed up over the years, the magnet for blisters – a side effect from the occasional burns, he smelt of fire and smoke, kindness that burned as bright as his passion, playful and dramatic - he knew how to put on a show. protector of those who couldn’t defend themselves - everyone deserves someone in their corner which seems about right. anyway i’ve heard they’re still a bit PASSIONATE, ECCENTRIC and LOYAL, they’re TWENTY-SIX now but some things never change! i wonder how being a HAL-BLOOD is affecting them after hogwarts, especially now they’re an AGENT with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX? i guess only time will tell… —— [ ally : est : she/her ]

          ❛  neither  does  aging  prematurely,  ❜  he  chuckles,  shaking  his  head  from  that  mentality.  ❛  —  but,  no,  i  agree.  i  think  that’s  the  beauty  of  it  all.  wrinkles  and  scars  tell  all  the  stories  of  our  lifetime.  as  long  as  you  have  some  good  ones  mixed  in  the  bunch  then  you’re  alright.  ❜  and  he  was  sure  between  the  two  of  them  that  they’d  have  plenty  to  last  even  more  lifetimes.  sturgis  more  than  edgar,  most  likely.  

          ❛  please,  i  know  they’re  dying  for  some  uncle  sturgis  time.  someone  that’s  not  afraid  to  rough  them  up  and  then  give  them  the  best  bedtime  stories  ?  you’ve  nearly  got  me  beat,  you  do.  ❜  his  tone  teasing,  but  mixed  with  a  hint  of  the  truth.  he  saw  sturgis  as  a  natural.  ❛  months  ?  that’s  insane.  where  to  this  time  ?  ❜  edgar  wanted  to  ask  how  much  sturgis  liked  traveling  for  work,  or  if  there  were  other  things  he  wanted  to  accomplish  in  life  as  well,  but  he  saved  it  for  another  time.

“that’s one way to put it -- i might have enough scars to last a life time” warm chuckle slipping through, baby dragons were fierce little things, their claws as unkind as their bite. “have you gotten any recently?” his brow raised, “any battle wounds from the little ones?”

           ❛  are  there  any  postings  around  to  try  and  save  the  poor  thing  ?  like  maybe  a  protest  of  the  sort  or  something  people  can  sign  to  show  support.  not  that  anyone  will  listen  to  it,  but  i’m  not  afraid  to  march  into  someones  office  if  need  be.  ❜  she  was  sure  of  herself,  but  not  quite  as  much  in  others.  ❛  —  but  you’d  be  surprised.  although,  i  guess  a  lumpy  mattress  adds  character.  ❜

           she  grinned  madly  at  his  proposition,  her  stomach  grumbling  right  on  cue,  causing  her  to  stand  up  immediately  and  reach  out  for  his  hand.  ❛  it’s  almost  like  you  read  my  mind,  sturg-y,  ❜  she  teased.  ❛  although  i  can’t  quite  promise  any  amazing  stories  from  my  year,  but  i’m  sure  i’ll  come  up  with  something.  ❜  

“not yet, but i’ll start making some noise --” fierce as he was determined, she had a point. he knew that he was always going to be outnumbered, but if he didn’t make any noise at all - how about the people who cared? how would they know. pride was what coursed through him at her bold statement, “i know you aren’t afraid” he chuckled fondly, ‘you will be the first person i owl --” he promised. 

          ❛  i  think  you  already  know  the  answer  to  that  question,  though  i  wouldn’t  be  surprised  with  milène’s  allaire  genes,  ❜  he  chuckled,  not  wanting  to  get  too  into  that  conversation.  edgar  was  honestly  surprised  the  kids  haven’t  completely  taken  over  the  house  yet  with  the  gene  pool  they  received  from  the  two  of  them.  ❛  if  it’s  moody  for  me,  then  it’s  definitely  the  dragons  for  you.  haven’t  they  come  up  with  some  anti-aging  type  of  charm  yet  ?  ❜  he  teased.

             edgar  shook  his  head  with  a  small  laugh.  ❛  not,  not  again  thankfully.  just  a  lot  of  desk  work  at  the  moment  until  the  new  kids  come  in.  moody’s  got  me  set  up  to  help  train  crouch’s  daughter,  so  i’ll  eventually  be  thrown  right  back  into  things.  ❜  soon  enough,  he  thought.  ❛  —  but  if  you’re  down  to  watch  the  rascals,  i  won’t  stop  you.  ❜  edgar  teased,  something  that  was  entirely  his  favorite  thing  to  do  with  his  friends.  ❛  do  you  have  your  next  trip  planned  yet  ?  ❜  

“just wanted to hear you say it” grinning fully, “he’s a mini-you, eddie -- i wouldn’t expect anything less” cheeky smile at his lips, “i’ll take dragons over moody any day --there’s a beauty in wrinkles mate, staying the same -- being frozen in time. doesn’t sound too appealing, especially in the state of the wizarding world right now”

    “  who  ever  thought  to  have  an  open  bar  for  this  service  is  either  bloody  brilliant  or  mad , “  rosine  says  to  other  wizard  next  to  her,  taking  liberty  in  swirling  the  contents  of  her  glass  with  a  shrug .  maybe  the  alcohol  was  a  needed  remedy  to  smooth  the  anxiety  that  was  evident  in  the  room .  “ i  haven’t  decided  which  one  yet. ”

“brilliant is what i’m going with--” he mumbled, grateful smile etched at his lips -- his hands were never once without a glass, it was the only way today would make sense. 

   ❛     𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘  𝑎𝑛𝑦   𝑏𝑎𝑛𝑘'𝑠       gonna  hold  the   trophy   to  real   ethical   practices ,   mate ?   ❜      mundungus  looks  up  from  the  coin  he'd  been   tossing   aimlessly  during  sturgis'  ramblings ,   amusement   written  all  over  his  face .         ❛    so  what's  the   dragon   even  for ?   guarding ?   tell  them  you'll  go   volunteer   to  watch  it  in  your   down  time .    problem  solved .   ❜      it  isn't  actually .   he  knows  as  much .   but  he'll  listen  to  sturgis  get  it  all   out   of  himself .    picking   someone's  brain  is  something  of  his   specialty .    intentional  or   not .

the sarcasm wasn’t lost on him, “maybe not, doesn’t mean we have to be complicit in their tyranny” he shrugged, he had made up his mind - he’d house his gold, as unpredictable as that was, he couldn’t give gringotts business in good conscience. he knew he was only feeding into mundungus’ amusement with his exasperation, but he couldn’t help himself -- “something about burning thieves to ashes” he huffed, “i’d rather not dabble in murder, seems like a slippery slope” 

         a  hand  fluttered  to  press  over  their  heart,  faux  indignation  crossing  her  features.  ”  not  the  ghoul  epidemic  !  whatever  shall  we  do  ?  “  let  it  be  known  that  there  were  many  things  that  giovanna  truly  didn't  care  about  unless  it  was  right  in  front  of  their  face,  and  quite  frankly,  the  plight  of  other  magical  creatures  was  one  of  them.  still,  she  didn't  find  it  too  hard  to  at  least  humor  him  as  opposed  to  shutting  down  the  conversation  entirely.  ”  i  suppose  a  little  of  both.  why  should  i  care,  sturgis  ?  please,  humor  me  for  a  moment.  i  think  underneath  your  pillow  is  a  grand  place  for  your  gold.  “

“you laugh now, but when they’re wreaking havoc in your attic - don’t come crying to me” he grinned, she could and he knew that he wouldn’t deny her, he would rather deal with the poor sod himself than let the task force take care of it. 

             ❛  that  doesn’t  surprise  me  in  the  least,  sturg.  haven’t  wixen  been  using  poor  dragons  as  means  of  protection  for  years  ?  ❜  it  wouldn’t  surprise  her  if  they  had,  knowing  fully  well  that  dragons  were  the  stereotypical  guards  of  the  castles  that  locked  away  princesses  in  muggle  fairytales.  now,  however,  she  knew  they  actually  existed.  ❛  i’m  pretty  sure  my  mums  have  been  hiding  their  gold  under  mattresses  at  home  —  at  least  my  bed  has  gotten  loads  lumpier  since  i  was  last  home  on  winter  holiday.  ❜  she  shrugged.

“unfortunately -- it’s ironic, considering they are the ones who need protection from us” bitterness ringing in every word. he couldn’t help but crack a smile, “my back is already a mess -- a lumpier mattress can’t do anymore damage --” 

           edgar  chuckled  at  the  thought  of  cristiano’s  teeth  being  just  as  sharp  as  any  dragon  sturg  had  come  across  in  his  line  of  work.  ❛  oh,  he’d  like  to  think.  maybe  he  was  a  dragon  in  his  past  life  —  now  that’d  be  something.  ❜  edgar  rolled  his  eyes  at  how  nonchalant  sturgis  was  about  his  injury,  and  sure,  the  two  both  had  pretty  dangerous  jobs,  but  edgar  would  pass  up  dragons  any  day.  ❛  well,  you’re  not  wrong,  i’ll  give  you  that,  but  i’ll  be  damned  if  you’re  the  reason  i  begin  to  prematurely  age.  if  i  start  to  get  wrinkles  i’ll  purely  blame  it  on  moody  and  his  desire  for  me  to  take  a  year  off,  then  i’ll  blame  the  kiddos.  ❜  edgar  shook  his  head  of  the  thought,  trying  to  move  on  from  the  past.  ❛  maybe  we  should  switch  positions  for  a  day  —  ❜  

“with his spirit -- he might as well have been” he chuckled, the little one was as fierce as he was biting, “does he get that from you or the wife?” grinning, he already had a feeling which one it was, but it didn’t hurt to test his theory.  “if it’s not the children or myself, the honour will fall on the job, eddie -- you work with alastor moody, that’s enough to cause the crinkles and the wrinkles”.

sturgis had all but been begging for a distraction, something much more entertaining than the paperwork that was due tonight -- gaze lifting, he didn’t want to eavesdrop, but the determination in her tone was drawing in his curiosity, his gaze drifting from the woman to the man who seemed dazed, “i think you’ve lost him” he piped up, sheepish smile at his lips. the leaky cauldron may not have been the most conventional place to get his work done, but if he was burdened with a desk again -- he would lose his mind.

        right  when  it  became  too  difficult  to  push  forward ,  micah  decides  to  finally  stop .  he  reaches  a  hand  towards  the  wall  of  the  building  next  to  him ,  catching  his  breath  before  using  the  back  of  his  hand  to  wipe  the  budding  sweat  from  his  forehead .  it  had  been  the  perfect  weather  for  a  jog ,  but  his  body  had  increasingly  become  resentful  with   each  passing  moment .  he’d  gotten  too  out  of  shape  and  with  the  season  picking  up  again  soon ,  micah  would  need  to  get  more  serious  with  getting  back  into  shape .  that  or  risk  the  chance  of  being  compared  to  the  new  additions  of  the  team  by  his  mates .   “  don’t  mind  me ,  i  know  i’m  not  that  young  any more  but  i  swear  i’m  kinda  fit  still .”   he  says  to  the  person  passing  by ,  not  entirely  sure  if  they  had  even  noticed  him  until  he  spoke  but  micah  had  never  been  the  type  to  pass  small  talk . 

“you said it” cheeky smile stretched his lips at the sight of the friendly face, “thought you’d be back from your jog by now, you’re getting old mate” it was pure teasing, the chaser might not be at his prime, but he certainly hadn’t peaked and there was no doubt that for his pride’s sake, sturgis wouldn’t challenge him to a race. 

sturgis sat perched on weasley’s desk -- his shirt was a bit of a mess, but the scone was to blame, it just wasn’t holding up like it used too, “where have you been?” he huffed, the second he set sights on him, “how mandatory is the meeting - you think we can duck out and act as if we were on assignment? i have better things to do than listen to him drone on about ghouls. the man has been talking in circles - one moment they aren’t a threat, justifiably so and the next they need another task force - it’s getting ridiculous --”

              “  you  think  the  dragon  story’s  real  ?  ”  in  her  defense  ,  marlene  had  simply  planned  on  a  quick  trip  to  diagon  alley  to  grab  some  money  ,  but  if  there  was  one  thing  the  wix  couldn’t  pass  up  was  a  good  cause  —  hence  why  she’d  ended  up  listening  intently  to  sturgis’  speech  ,  the  disgust  at  the  inhumane  practices  not  contained  on  her  face  as  she  nodded  .  "  you  know  what  you  should  do  ?  try  to  get  in  touch  with  the  quibbler  ,  i’m  sure  they’d  run  a  story  on  it  .  try  to  get  people  listening  —  at  least  people  who  care  .  "

“it’s absolutely real --” he didn’t doubt it for a second, he had done his extensive research -- he wasn’t one to stir the pot without reliable resources and his father had just further confirmed it. that protection wasn’t offered to all the vaults, no there was a select few that required that barbaric attention. brows nearly touching his hairline with the young wix’s suggestion, “that’s not a bad idea --” he mused, he was sure he would hear about publicity from the department, but he wasn’t also the most patient of folk. 

           ❛  i  don’t  know  mate,  cristiano’s  bite  can  be  quite  a  dramatic  one  at  that.  maybe  it’s  always  the  cute  ones  that  cause  the  most  pain,  ❜  he  joked  as  he  took  a  look  at  sturgis’  injury.  ❛  —  but,  for  real,  are  you  alright  ?  you’ll  soon  be  littered  in  even  more  battle  scars  if  you  keep  this  up.  ❜  

“the piercers came in then? he can’t already be that old, can he?” he couldn’t imagine that all those baby teeth were gone and he was nearly as fierce as the little welsh green he had come across during his visit to the reserve. giving his shoulder a squeeze with his good hand, “i’m just fine -- this is nothing” shrugging carelessly, “we both know you’ve seen me in a worser state, this was an accident and the day that i’m walking about without a scratch on me -- that’s when we should be worried” 

     perhaps  gigi  had  always  been  a  bit  out  of  touch  with  the  plight  of  other  creatures,  dark  gaze  sweeping  over  sturgis  in  obvious  confusion  as  to  why  he  felt  so  strongly.  a  moment's  hesitance  and  pause  to  allow  him  to  speak  about  it  fully,  before  a  devious  grin  touched  her  lips.  “  perhaps  then  you  should  place  your  gold  under  your  bed.  would  that  make  you  feel  better  ?  ”  though  they  were  hardly  serious,  it  was  still  an  amusing  thought  to  her.  “  or  go  and  save  it.  "  it  seemed  a  rather  odd  thing  to  get  worked  up  over.

a coy smile toyed at his lips, much to his dismay -- she was funny, he would give her that. “i would if i wasn’t too worried about the current ghoul epidemic --” he mused. 

“There’s a what?!” Fiadh’s eyes go wide as the words sink in, looking horrified towards the formidable building. “No…” She worried her lip as she thought about how awful it would be, for any creature but especially one such as massive as an Ironbelly. “No, I wouldn’t– They’re not supposed to live underground like that. It’s cruel.” Fiadh might struggle to stand up for herself, but creatures, particularly magical ones, were an area she found her confidence in.

a sympathetic smile stretched his lips -- he could at least value that he had crushed an ideal that might have been hiding her from the truth, “there’s a lot that shouldn’t be happening”
