Awaiting the Morning

It sucks to be an after thought... That is when you must remind yourself to invest in those who invest in you.

If you feel like a nobody.... Remember, nobody is perfect. So, you are perfect.

The suicide rate in the US has been rising steadily after decades of decline. I wonder what impact social media and the ability to encapsulate yourself in an echo chamber of depression and dispair has on that trend. It is good to vent. It is good to know others also struggle. However, don't spend so much time in the darkness that you forget to look for the light. It is out there. Morning will come, but you have to look for it.

That tiny string that keeps you alive each day. That one thread that keeps you from actually ending it all. That is the light. It may seem so faint that you have forgotten what it looks like, but it is still there. Cling to it. Nurture. Morning will come. It may not be until you move out or finally open up or any number of things... but it will come. Hang on.

It sucks watching someone you love make epically bad decisions and to have them shun your advice or refuse your help.

When I learn about your secrets, I won't leave you alone in the darkness. When I make you eat and encourage you not to cut, when I tell you that you are wonderful and ask you if you are okay, it is not because I don't understand how hard it is for you. It is because I do. It is because I love you so much that I will try to bring the light to you, if you can't take yourself.

Sometimes it takes everything you have to make it through the day. In those times, you can't see the future because the world around you is so dark. Just because you can't see it anymore doesn’t mean it isn't just over the horizon. Keep waking up. Keep pressing forward. Keep hoping for a better tomorrow. Morning will come eventually.

And then sometimes people lie...
