... because apparently I wasn't quite as back as I promised in this post last year.
Anyway, with 2017 only a couple of days old I thought I give it another try. And even though it seems stupid waiting for a new year to begin with your diet, it is a nice point to start from. Here are my mayor plans this year:
I: Be a vegetarian again... or at least a pescetarian!
In 2015 I set myself a challenge to eat no meat whatsoever for three months. After that I extended the challenge until the end of the year. Coming 2016 I started eating meat again, although less than before 2015. I did not feel bad about it, but it didn't increase my happiness. That's why I decided for 2017 to become a pescetarian, eating fish twice a week - because I need some variation.
II: Reach the goal weight I set four years ago!*
Let's be honest, when I set the ultimate weight goal of 55kg (121lbs) in the end of 2012, I had no idea how losing weight and getting fit works. I was naive and thought that small numbers on a scale equal toned thights and a sixpack. Haha, oh kid, was I wrong. Of course I could get to 55kg (121lbs) if I wanted to, but then I'd probably be only skin and bones and couldn't do anything because I have no strength. Muscles are heavier than fat. So if you cut bad food from your diet but at the same time workout, you will lose fat but gain muscles. So in the end the scale tells your weight, but not your fitness. *That being said I don't think I want to reach my goal weight anymore.
III: Fit into my clothes from summer last year!
Now THAT is a goal. On my journey I changed my clothing size from 42 [UK: 18, US: 16] in 2012, to 38/39 [UK: 12/14, US: 12/10] in 2014, to 36 [UK: 10, US: 8] last year. Buying some tops and a jacket size 36 was a HUUUGE thing for me. I never got below 38. And yes, I know it always depends on how the piece of clothing is cut etc. But having something that size in your wardrobe and - even better - be able to wear it on a regular basis... that's just beyond everything. It made me so happy. I want to have that again. ♥
IV: Rock that wedding outfit!
Nah, kids, I am not getting married. Haha, no. Far far away from that to be honest. But I am invited to the wedding and as it happens I will be the host or "Master of Ceremonies" that day. I have no idea what exacly my part is (will figure that out soon enough) but what i know is, that I want to look amazing. ;-) This goal kinda goes hand in hand with the previous one.
V: No emotional eating!
This one is important. This year I will write my final thesis for my Bachelor degree at university. And I know what I am like during finals. I am grumpy, I hate everyone including myself, I eat A LOT of chocolate. That's how it's been my whole life. And I don't think it will be any different this year. BUT, having in mind that the wedding is only a couple of weeks after the deadline for my thesis, I have to stay strong or find an alternative to binge on. I will eat chocolate because it makes me happy. And I won't maintain the strict diet - because I'll have other problems than avoiding carbs. But I hope to keep up my motivation.
