I love having Fiddleford and Susan being friends. Especially before Fiddleford's recovery. For the longest time, between the two of them, she was the one who managed to have a house (even if it may just be a rental), a job she liked, pets, and even an attempt at a love life. She's doin' ok.
And even when things were hard, Fiddleford liked to go to the diner. And Susan would be fine with it. Maybe he'd fix the Pie Display case, or make sense of some paperwork for her, or chase off rude patrons who were scaring her, and he'd get a coffee or some eggs in thanks.
And if Fiddleford was having a bad bad day, and got to be too high energy, she'd just shoo him out with a broom. Knowing he could come back the next day, hat in hand, and all would be forgiven.
Just two folk with cult-induced TBIs doin' their best.
You can see exactly how far they shaved me for surgery bc it’s still growing back but hooray! 5 weeks Post Op today! Got a couple spots where some scabbing still needs to heal (dominant side armpit is the worst offender here but that’s typical). But otherwise, life has gotten much easier the last two weeks.
No more ace bandage has been a lifesaver, even if I still can’t wear tshirts yet. A lot of folk like to act like it’s fine to wear tshirts like forty seconds post op, but it’s truly not worth risking a blown incision just to try. So imma wait until I’m firmly in the clear.
I miss the gym, I miss cooking, but it’s all gonna be worth it.
Two bolo ties are on their way because my wife and I are nothing if not committed to the bit. I've wanted one of these for actual years and my time has finally come. As a shorter, stockier dude, ties can be a mixed bag, but i'm so ready to make a bolo work somehow.
My wife's gonna look great in it guaranteed bc she's gorgeous and rocks everything, but I'm so ready to be annoying.

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?
Hooray! So I've got 6 WIPs that are developing into proper works (that is, more than just rambling snippets), 3 of which are in various stages of posting. (A couple of them are being posted anonymously bc because.)
But one WIP that i've been really enjoying is sitting at around ~12k words right now. It goes into a very, very unfortunately timed memory lapse for Fiddleford and the fallout for all of them at home. It's set amorphously before Dial Tone, and is a bit an angsty on all sides. People like to write Stan Lapse fics, or Ford PTSD fics, but I really think there's a lot of untapped potential out there for Recovering Fiddleford lapse fics.
Plus writing from the perspective of the one having them is a funky challenge and it's really been a fun time. I do think that eventually I'll get a oneshot collection going that's just Oops all lapses (not necessarily just Fiddleford), because I am a sucker for it, but that's down the road.

Shout out to Oregon Juncos, or 'Lil Peepers' as we call them. Those little orbs have been decimating the aphids on our pea plants. I've watched the same little fat sphere gorge itself on little bugs day in and day out for like 20 minutes at a time. Remarkable work ethic.

Enough of the trope where memory loss undoes the damage or the corruption or whatever. More content where removing memories just removes the context.
The tragedy of needing to grieve and not knowing what or who you lost or why. The angst of having trauma and being denied the awareness that it's trauma. The suspense of being different somehow and left to wonder how and when. The tension of knowing that something is off and you can't find where it hurts. The Adventure Zone gets it. Kingdom Hearts gets it.
There is an aching inside you and you don't know how it got there.

You know, I may personally maintain my headcanon that Trans man Fiddleford never got top surgery. BUT! I do feel like, If he did, those scars would be thick. Esp up by the pits.
Lift restrictions? Mobility restrictions? Nope. He's got whozits to build and whatsits to climb. Now that isn't to say that they'd look bad. They'd heal fine, and he'd certainly synthesize up some hyper-potent vitamin E oil or scar cream (and if he doesn't, Ford would). But I still like the idea that even if they were neat and faded, he'd have those thick scars right up in the pits from where they stretched out. Seems right. Suits him.
