2015 was a great year for ARC and all the birds - including this barn owl who was happy to be released after a stint in the ARC rehab hotel. I just want to say thank you all for letting me share life with these amazing birds with you on IG - there's nothing else quite like a raptor. Later this month I'll be moving to the Philippines, and leaving my bird friends in Florida behind. I don't know what will happen next, but I'm excited to find out. Did you know that birds have a third eyelid? It's called a nictitating membrane and it blinks from front to back and helps to protect their eyes while still being semi-clear so they can see through it a bit. I caught Ike blinking his the other day! #zombiebird #baldeagle
