like here’s the thing. the “kink at Pride” discourse absolutely is centered on gay/bi men. it’s disingenuous at best to deny this. once we accept this, we can take it as a given that it’s rooted in homophobia. cus it boils down to, in many ways, people being very upset that they have to acknowledge that there are men at Pride who have sex with other men. they’re perhaps comfortable with men who hold hands with other men, or men who get married to other men, but the moment they see a dude in leather or a puppy hood they go “that’s a sex thing!” and have a conniption because people are pretty universally taught that two men having sex is disgusting and repulsive. sanitizing Pride by removing the implication that men have kinky sex with other men (and lets be real, it’ll escalate to “men wearing booty shorts and crop tops are inappropriately sexual” eventually if some loser hasn’t already said it) just further contributes to the notion that men having sex with each other is a disgusting perverted abomination and if that makes the main events at Pride less accessible then like… c’est la ass-fucking vie

like honestly! a huge portion of the contempt for gay/bi men is hitched to gay sex. “but the children!” okay first off you sound like a 90’s sound bite and second off it’s possible for the community to make child/family friendly spaces around and connected to pride but not like this. incrementally scrubbing pride – an event that by its definition includes gay/bi men – of every indication that those men are sexually attracted to and perhaps even sexually active wir other men, is a problem. it’s backwards, reactionary, and for those who only understand buzzwords, it’s “problematic” and “assimilationist.” like your local pride is gonna have precisely none (0) dudes walking around in nothing but a chastity cage or bent over getting rawed by strangers on the sidewalk. you’re going after the leather men who’ve been there for decades and the puppy hoods that are about as visually innocuous as you can get. like i’m not claiming to be nostradamus but i’m already seeing shit about men in speedos being too sexual so y’all can’t tell me that this isn’t about scrubbing that homosexual perversion out of pride. like i know everyone’s gonna balk at having some fat balding 30 year old faggot say this but the thinly veiled drive to take the gay sexuality out of pride is… homophobic
