“What the hell are you doing? Get in this selfie with me!”

Ava leapt up. “Yes please!”

Dree grinned as he walked into the girl’s apartment, kicking his shoes off by the door. “Of course I haven’t. The only things I have downloaded on my phone are thing’s people have done for me.” He admitted. “Everyone regrets letting me have candy crush.”

“Bad Dree!” Ava admonished. “I kid, I kid,” she reached over and made a garb for his phone. She proceeded to download the app for him. “Do you guys ever watch Brooklyn 99 over here? One of the characters gets addicted to a candy crush knockoff and it’s hilarious. I’ve never really gotten into phone games, but I’m hopeless when it comes to social media.”

“Sounds fun,” she chuckled. “That’s true. Now that’s something to look forward to.”

“I could always bribe the professor,” Ava said. “He might go for it, he’s got that “I could be bribed” vibe, you know?”

“I thought so.” He said with a laugh. He could see that she wasn’t sure how to respond to such a thing. But even so, the fact that she listened to him was enough for him to more than appreciate her. “That is definitely something I can’t argue with. You always have something interesting to say. Which is a good thing. Except when it’s three in the morning and you’re waking me up to ask such questions.” He bantered with a smile. “You’ve made a valid point there. Though the word ‘spawned’ really takes away from it.” He laughed, institutionally reaching out to grab her arm when he saw her losing her balance. “You haven’t seen it because with massive amount of skill comes massive amount of responsibility.” He stated with a nod before going outside. After he fixed it, he stared at the pipe a moment longer. Just to make sure it would actually stay. “All fixed!” He laughed before he looked at the massacred flowers. “Oh, my poor garden. I’ve worked so hard on all of those.”

“Aw, you’re gonna make blush,” Ava said, fighting the urge to do just so, but ultimately losing. Ava was a fool for compliements and she knew it. “I never wake you up without a good reason!” She argued, hoping he’d ignore the time she woke him up to ask him if she’d rather eat chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Ava stood by that as having been important enough to warrant waking up Grey. “Besides, you always make the cute squinty eyes at me when I wake you up and I can’t stop myself.” Ava pouted at him. “I maintain that the word “spawned” is extremely serious and anatomically accurate.” She smiled at him for catching her. “Oh, well we all know how you do with responsibility,” Ava said, faux-serious. She clapped for him, very dramatically. “You make me so proud. I might even shed a single tear.” Ava watched his face fall when he saw the garden and it made her heart hurt a little. “They were so beautiful. Maybe we can plant some new ones when the water clears up? I always wanted to try and grow foxglove.”

Roman shot the girl a charming grin. “I’m her boyfriend Roman. It’s nice to meet you.”

Ava grinned, always a sucker for big smiles. “Nice to meet you too! Want me to try and call her? Or is this a surprise visit?”

“Well that makes two of us.”

“Well now that you know who I really am on the inside, I can’t be all super polite. I hope I didn’t scare you off.”

Ava’s eyes widened. “Oo, tell me about the time you got lost in Mexico,” she said, picking the first crazy thing that popped in her head.

Vera laughed, covering her face. “I bought it online and the picture looked so pretty. But it looks like lingerie.”

“No, no, no! It looks great on you! Besides, the lingerie look is always hot. Except the one time my mom tried to pull it off,” Ava admitted, eyes wide. “She took it way too far.”

“The non-stop fun is the best part, it’s the sass that I would need some breaks from. You know, like, times of truce where I can just sit down and eat my cereal without having to think of good comebacks. He probably just eats your snacks back, doesn’t he, that slick bastard,” Landon teased, obviously all in favour of her roommate. “Wow, I love hearing that,” He took the high road, simply sticking his tongue out at her. “I like to think of it as a safety net. If I suck at being a wizard, I can always choose to have a muggle career and no one would care. Thank you, right back at you. I even come with a puppy, there’s no better deal,” He said sincerely, not all that bothered by the idea of candles and Ava going hand in hand. “That sounds a little crazy. I’ll have to drop you off at yours before the caffeine properly hits and you start bouncing off the walls but… it’s up to you.”

“Hey!” Ava whacked him. “My sass is endearing and inseparable from the rest of my personality. I could give you times of truth,” she said, half-heartedly. Ava knew that wouldn’t ever happen, despite her best efforts. She paled a bit. “You don’t think he eats my snacks, do you? Oh my,” she felt her southern drawl slip in a bit. “He probably does. How did that never occur to me? Oh my goodness, he said that one his friends at my cookies! He probably did! OH, will the lies ever stop?” Ava threw up her hands dramatically. “Hey! I didn’t mean it as a dig. I would miss you in the wizarding world. Who’s gonna come visit me at the ministry if you don’t?” Ava had never really thought about what might happen if Landon left the wizarding world. He was her confidant and she was afraid she might crash and burn without him to balance out her crazy. “Puppy! How’s the fluffy ball? Missing Auntie Ava?” Ava grinned. “I’m always like this, always bouncing off the walls.”
