And now the DJ is trying to tell you you can’t say clitoris, but somehow “damn” is fine, which is weird because you KNOW that one is a curse word and so you and your brother spend the rest of the song trying to determine which words you can and cannot say but you still don’t get it right.

eventually i’ll write a true deep dive into how king writes preteen and teen boys; his bully characters as deeply violent representations of toxic masculinity, how often his teen boys are outwardly emotional in ways beyond anger, how many of his fictional young boys are failed by their fathers, the inherent violence of growing up. but for now, i just want to highlight how tommy’s kindness in carrie is framed.
it’s framed as something genuinely foreign to a teenage boy. he’s not expected to be nice, he’s expected to punch down on carrie and that he couldn’t have possibly be motivated by anything other than gleefully joining in mocking her. it’s almost like he’s genuinely too good for the town he grew up in.

I bought calico critters and then I made a little diorama to display them in. Let me break down the lore for you.
Butch mom- Pearlie
Femme mom- Willow
Girl dalmatian- Clementine
Boy dalmatian- Waverly
Girl tuxedo cat- Lily
The lore I came up with:
Pearlie's husband left her while she was pregnant with triplets. One of them didn't make it. Willow was her best friend and helped her get through it all. They fell in love and got married. She had Clementine and Waverly but the third one didn't make it. A teen mom left Lily on their doorstep and they adopted her. She was a few days old but they didn't know how many days. They celebrate her adoption day instead of her birthday because it is approx. Her birthday.

reminder that the books themselves also suck ass actually. there's an entire plotline endorsing slavery. the one character who advocates to end slavery is bullied and made fun of. the one slave who doesnt like being enslaved is bullied and treated as an outcast. the bankers are the picture of racist stereotypes of jewish people. the one asian character is named fckn Cho Chang. the worldbuilding SUCKS. fuck harry potter and fuck rowling. stop giving her your money.
