#storytime The little fairy didn’t realize the wind would be so strong on the day she chose to sit atop the dandelion fluff. It had looked so enticing, a bed of dreamy white, but as she relaxed onto the gentle whiskers of the flower puff, the mischievous wind sent her flying with a giant gust. Her tiny world diminished as she rose, the giant dandelions becoming mere pin-pricks of white in a sea of green. Tears trembled in the lashes of the little fairy—home! Home was the pulse in a fairy’s heart, and nowhere else would be the same. These fairies had no wings, so she was trapped, a prisoner of the wind. Her heart despaired. But as she drifted in the silence, a new world appeared below her, one no longer of green or white, but of vivid red and blue. Rows of tulips, she realized as she dropped lower, flowers she’d only heard of. Unlike the jumbled wildflowers of home, these flowers marched in careful rows, soldiers in vivid uniforms, petals curved like an upturned bell. Her heart sped at the unexpectedly beautiful sight. Her sharp eyes noted the flower’s center space would hold any fairy safe and sound like a tiny cottage all night. Yellow pollen, a most delectable treat, nestled in each one, too. Her breathing slowed as she sniffed the delicate sweetness of their fragrance and hope shook loose the despair that had gripped her heart. She still missed her green field, yes, but now she gazed at the red and blue below her with rising excitement. She could always return home one day. And she would. But the wind had offered an unexpected gift that she would not squander. She leaned forward on her tiny floating seed and prepared herself for a new world, one whispering to her of adventure, of discovery. A smile slowly lit her face, spreading wider and wider, until the little fairy mirrored perfectly the beauty of the flowers all around her, waiting for her arrival with open arms. #storytelling #fairy #dandelion

One thing I appreciate about being a writer is that I can work when I'm doing other things. In fact, I do some of my best thinking when physically away from the keyboard, when all my thoughts can marinate. Walks have the same effect.
