Aurora nodded along as the other spoke. Her gaze lifted to the acrobats once more. Their talent was undeniable. She could never imagine herself pulling off such brilliant stunts. Only recently had she taken up the art of sword fighting. It was as far as her intense athletic training went. "You must let her know then so you can perform with them next time! I'm sure she would love to have you." The princess nodded. Her head tilted slightly at what came later. She continued to nod as Dewey spoke. "That's quite alright. You could always become one later if you wanted. The world is full of endless possibilities. That's alright as well! I was too until a few years ago. I decided I wanted to keep myself busy."

there was something about a community event that just rejuvenated ariel in ways she couldn't necessarily explain. it was apparent in the way she stood behind any holiday themed booth the city asked her to stand behind or how her shop reopening turned into a celebration of local business across borders. even now, when she didn't have her hand in anything - she had her hand in something or an opinion to share.

"did you see cirque du lune at the fantasia? you know, i had raved about it in her shop after that show." the princess tapped the side of her head with a smirk, marked cleverness, as if she could now take credit for the very thing aurora was complimenting. "we'll have to ask her." ariel looked to the nearest performer, a beat passing between them as she turned back to aurora and asked: "how are you? you look beautiful, naturally."

"I did! It was so wonderful. It was such a treat to have something so spectacular in the city." Minnie cared so much for Elias. It showed in the little things she did, such as bringing beautiful shows for citizens to see. The city was never quite the same after the dust settled, but it was being rebuilt into something people could find joy in. Aurora had tried to find joy in little ways. Sunday brunches with Ariel and Ella were one of those many little highlights that kept the light from fading.

"Yes, we will. There are a few other things I want to pick her brain about." Chatting with Minnie was something Aurora had come to enjoy. She was the only other person in Elias who knew Maleficent's truth. It felt easier to bear knowing she wasn't alone. "I'm alright. Enjoying the festivities. Thank you! You look beautiful as always. Are you having fun?"

"I'm sure she has a whole list of connections she keeps for occasions like this." The princess gestured to the room before them. The opulence of the ball was something only Minnie Mouse could pull off. Her grace could be felt throughout the entire room, like sparkling crown jewels reflecting in the sunlight. Aurora had almost forgotten that Elias had once been like this: dazzling, sparkling, and full of hope. "Oh, of course. I can only imagine how much energy they are using to perform for us. Truly a feat!"

A faint pink blush stained the princesses' cheeks. Her hands moved to run through her curled hair. "I don't quite dress up anymore." Her job and motherhood didn't leave room for much more. The beautiful ball gowns she had were collecting dust in her closet at this point. She felt like the girl who lived with her aunts in the woods rather than a princess most days. "And I do love seeing you there. Our conversations are always so wonderful." Lottie had become a regular that Aurora sought out on her shifts. She was always happy to engage the heiress in conversation. "You're too kind, Lottie. Thank you so much. I do feel quite beautiful tonight. Everyone here looks incredible." She turned to take in Lottie's appearance. "You look dazzling as ever. You're always the most well-dressed person in the room. A beautiful diamond."

On the day of her sixteenth birthday, they revealed the truth of her fate - that she was a princess and she was cursed to sleep for eternity. The fairies believed Aurora could outlast her fate, but their hopes were crushed when Maleficent threatened the neighboring kingdom of Ulstead.  It was only a matter of time before she found Aurora, so they sent her away to Elias. They knew that the city was under the protection of Mickey Mouse. Surely, Aurora would be safe. Eliad had been a breath of fresh air.  Aurora experienced freedom for the first time. The truth of her royalty weighed heavily on her heart, but she refused to let it ruin this new life she found herself in. She fell in love with a boy, Philip Charmont. It turns out her beloved was the boy she had been betrothed to as a baby. The two married without hesitation once they knew the truth. Aurora believed her life was perfect. That is, until Maleficent made her grand entrance.  Maleficent toyed with Aurora's life here and there, but she had bigger plans that now surpassed the princess. Aurora didn't understand why Maleficent held such a grudge. It wasn't until she was holding her dying husband in her arms that Aurora found out the truth. Maleficent had been friends with her father when they were children. Stefan Edouard cut her wings with an iron chain and allowed his father to demolish the enchanted kingdom she called home. The revelation left Aurora reeling, heartbroken, angry, but above all, sad. In their last moments together, Aurora had tried to offer Maleficent kindness. It was all she could give, but the mistress of evil refused it. Kindness was what she should have been given before she was treated as a monster.  As the smoke and ash cleared, Aurora's world was left crumbled. Maleficent was not the evil creature she was made out to be. Had her father not enacted such cruelty, perhaps all that unfolded could have been prevented. Aurora couldn't return home. How was she to face parents she hardly knew after all she had learned? Instead, she remained in Elias. She would continue to create a humble life for herself here, even with the loss of Philip. She also took it upon herself to speak Maleficent's truth. The woman had been nothing but cruel to her, but Aurora now understood why. She refused to let hatred fill her heart. Even if people's opinion turned on her, and rightfully so, it's the least she could do to right her father's wrongs. If she couldn't offer Maleficent peace while she was alive, perhaps she could give it to her now in the afterlife.
