Apologies for a two week gap! Your girl was at GenCon and it wore me down to a nub.
I humbly offer pencils for the first page of a David x Michael comic I've been working on. Still not sure where I want to take the final rendering.
I consider the scene where David blows smoke onto Michael's lips to be the most sexually charged in the film, and I'm going to turn the musical Michael's inability to hit a blunt a sexy teaching moment. This miiiight get very explicit, but tbh I'm still not sure how Tumblr handles that or a good option to take it for viewing outside the platform. We'll see!

The playful one of our Lost Boys and the fourth of Max's "family".
This is what Paul's life was when he was human.....
In 1940, Paul was born. He was the youngest child of his parents with twin, older brothers. They lived in suburban neighborhood in Florida. Unlike the other Lost Boys, Paul was born into a relatively wealthy family. His great-grandfather had major success in the steel industry, and such riches were passed to each generation. His parents' wealth had only grown with his father’s massive success as a car salesman (a very sneaky one at that). His mother was a housewife and poured all her time and energy into making sure their home was always perfect.
They were the perfect picture of a successful, nuclear family in the 40s and 50s. The kind you’d see on billboards and advertisements. Bright smiles, neat clothing, and all the luxuries one could only dream of having. Neighbors and friends expressed envy of the gadgets and expensive decorations they owned. That was certainly fine by them, as a perfect image was something his parents strived for more than anything. They always worked to keep up appearances and impress others.
There was just one problem with this; behind closed doors, Paul’s family was downright insufferable. His mother was prone to physical violence due to the nasty temper she had while his father would tear him down with full-volume screaming. There was no proper communication or unity in the household. Anything could set off a fight without any notice. They also hated anything that didn’t fit the traditional W.A.S.P. appearance (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant), looking down on anyone who was even slightly different than them.
Paul was a very odd kid in their mind, and he didn’t always fit the image his parents were trying to keep up. From an early age, Paul displayed signs of ADHD, but it wasn’t really understood or diagnosed in that time period. This unfortunately led to a lot of issues with his parents. They berated him for not staying still, for doing weird things for no reason (which was just stimming), for accidentally interrupting conversations, and for showing certain emotions at “inappropriate” times. Poor Paul didn’t understand what he was doing wrong, and it frustrated him constantly.
It didn’t help that his brothers were golden boys in their parents' eyes. They were perfect at everything. School, sports, music, boy scouts, you name it, they could master it. They worked as a team and it helped them succeed quite a bit. Unfortunately, they would use their duo dynamic for bullying their little brother. They would kick him, throw him in the dirt and mud and lock him in the basement when he was “annoying” them. Paul was miserable, but to them, it was a game.
School life wasn’t much better either. Paul struggled quite a bit, as it was extremely difficult for him to concentrate. Due to the time period, he was punished by his teachers with rulers slapped on his palms or forced to sit in the corner while the other kids laughed at him. He didn’t make any friends because of this.
Paul was a punching bag to everyone around him. He was a frightened little boy who had to deal with the terrible ways the people in his life would punish him. All because of him acting a little differently. He didn’t understand why they were so cruel. Why his parents mistreated others, why his teachers thought he was stupid, and why his brothers wished he had never been born. One day when he was 8, Paul tried to run away from home, fed up with the mistreatment.
He didn't think to bring much. He had run away with just an old lunch box full of random toys. Paul was just a little boy that didn’t know where he was going or what he would do. All he knew was that he wanted to be far away from his family. After several hours, he found a set of train tracks. One thing that brought him comfort was trains, as they could take him away from the life he was suffering through. As he played on the rails, he wished a train would come by for him to get on.
To his surprise, a train DID come, but it was heading straight for him. His foot got caught in the tracks, leaving him stuck and in danger. Paul’s screams got the attention of someone, and in a matter of seconds, a motorcycle rode by the train tracks, the driver on top scooping him up moments before he could get run over.
A runaway greaser had saved his life that day. He was a very nice stranger, kneeling down to talk to Paul at eye level, making sure he was okay, and asking where his parents were. Paul was in complete awe of the stranger. He thought he was the coolest person he’d ever laid eyes on. The bike he rode was powerful, he had a cigarette in his mouth and the leather jacket he wore was incredibly stylish. At that moment, Paul was looking at the image of a person he wanted to be someday.
Thankfully, the stranger was caring enough to take him to a local diner to get him some food and to call his parents. Paul actually preferred the greasy fries and sweet milkshakes over the elaborate, rich dinners his mother made. It was much more appetizing for a kid’s palette. It took quite a while for anyone to show up, so the two of them hung out together. Paul got to dance to the music (which was Good Rockin’ Tonight by Wynonie Harris) and have fun playing games. It was the first time in his life he actually felt like he had a friend, and it brought him immense joy.
Unfortunately, the happiness didn’t last, and soon his parents pulled up outside the diner. Paul did NOT want to leave, clinging onto the stranger who he now called a friend. They were very kind and encouraging, helping him feel a little braver. In order to make it easier, they gave Paul one of their many silver bracelets as a token of friendship. That way, Paul would have something to remember the good times by. He still wears that bracelet to this day.
If Paul thought his parents were mean before, they became MUCH worse after he ran away. They were horrified by the stranger who helped him, and rather than praise them for keeping their child safe, they went on a detailed rant to Paul about how rock & roll was the devil’s music and that anyone who rode a motorcycle was a no-good hoodlum (they also made some rather hateful remarks regarding the stranger’s sexuality). They forbade him from ever indulging in that kind of stuff. In fact, they would make sure of it by harshly punishing him if they even thought he was doing such things.
Paul’s life became empty, as he could never properly enjoy the things that brought him joy. When the family got their first television set, Paul wasn’t allowed to watch anything on it. Several of his toys were thrown out without notice if his parents felt like doing so. Punishments got more severe, and Paul was often backed into a corner either being screamed at or being struck with a belt. All while this was going on, his brothers were spoiled and allowed to do as they wished.
As he started to get older, Paul believed there was no hope for him. That life would only get worse and worse and no matter what he would do, there would be nothing but pain. He was very much alone in the world. He never really smiled or laughed, as he had no reason to. If he was ever seen grinning for a family picture, it wasn’t genuine. He was just in survival mode, doing whatever he could to not invoke the wrath of his parents so he wouldn’t have so many bruises.
The only time Paul would find peace was at night. When everyone else in the house was asleep, he’d sneak into his brothers’ room and take their record player so he could listen to their music. Paul would listen in the basement with as low volume as possible. Music became his savior. In the 50s, he found rock & roll again, and it brought him the only real happiness in his life. It was fun, energetic and made him want to go wild. It helped him realize how much he loved dancing and gave him hope that he could live a fun life one day.
When he was 16, his brothers (who were still at home for college) turned on the Ed Sullivan show to see Elvis Presley perform. Paul was sneakily trying to watch too, as he really didn’t want to miss out. Of course, he got caught and his brothers snitched to their parents, claiming Paul had a crush on the singer. His parents were LIVID. They decided from then on, Paul’s life was going to be far more strict than it already was.
They locked him in his room every night, only letting him out for school and chores. It wasn’t like Paul’s room was a safe place anymore, as they searched the room top to bottom and got rid of every book, magazine, toy, poster and decoration. It was just his bed and nightstand that had no drawer. If Paul wanted to read something, he’d either get the bible or a school book. Chores were worse, as they berated even the most perfect job done. If they found so much as a speck of dust, he’d get beaten.
(WARNING: The next paragraph has mentions of s*icidal thoughts. Proceed with caution or skip if you need to)
Every single part of Paul’s life was miserable. He was a prisoner in his home and overwhelmed in school. It actually got to a point where Paul was held back a year for his struggling, which didn’t help the situation with his parents. With nothing to keep him happy, Paul considered multiple times taking his own life just to make the suffering stop.
One day, Paul got detention for falling asleep in class, meaning he didn’t get to go home until after dark. He was walking alone when he accidentally bumped into someone while turning a corner. He was face to face with three handsome, rocker-style boys around his age. Paul was absolutely mystified by them. They reminded him of the stranger who saved his life as a child. The thing that brought him true happiness.
Amused by him, they introduced themselves as David, Marko and Dwayne. They offered to take him to the local diner for some food and a dance or two. Paul was scared of the consequences with his parents, but the boys assured him it would be okay. He ended up having a really nice time, the weight of the world off his shoulders as they showed him a fun time. When he had to go, they gave him a ride home (it was Dwayne’s bike he rode on the back on). Paul was incredibly sad to say goodbye, but David promised they would come by to help sneak him out for more fun in the future.
So that’s what happened. The night became safe for Paul again, as the boys would come to his bedroom window and sneak him out to play. They gifted him jewelry and helped teach him how to use eye makeup. Whether they went on wild motorcycle rides, went out dancing or just listened to some music while having a smoke, Paul was incredibly happy. To him, life was worth living again, and the boys were the guardian angels that saved him.
They also helped Paul get more comfortable with his sexuality. He had developed feelings for Marko first (who also became his first kiss), but ultimately found all three of them attractive. It was confusing to him, as his parents were very strict about the idea of relationships being between one man and one woman, but his friends weren’t judgmental or restrained with their beliefs.
Finally ready to leave the torment of his parents forever, Paul asked to run away with the boys, as they would be traveling again soon. Having fallen in love with the adorable blond, they all agreed, ready to help him sneak out with what little he had. They were at a picnic spot in the woods and enjoying the celebration of Paul leaving his awful family…..when all of a sudden, said family pulled up in their car.
His parents and brothers were there, ready to take him back home away from the “sinful” lifestyle. His father in particular wanted to send Paul to military school to finally break him down and prevent more rebellious behavior. Paul was struggling with a panic attack, terrified and barely able to breathe. David pulled him aside and covered his ears while Marko and Dwayne completely mauled the awful family. Paul was confused when he saw vampire faces and yellow eyes on his friends, but he never felt anything less than safe. David made sure his eyes were closed while they got back on their bikes and left the scene.
Paul was free of that life, but he still wanted to complete his transition into the next one. He truly loved his friends and wanted to be with them forever, even after learning they were vampires. In his eyes, they weren’t monsters. He’d seen what real ones were. So the three of them agreed to turn him. Paul got to drink David’s blood from the bottle while the others cheered him on. When they asked where Paul wanted to go for his first hunt, he chose a familiar place from his childhood; the train tracks.
Several emotions were going through his mind when he spotted his first target. He had some doubts if he could really take another life, but David assured him he could do it. The world was full of so many cruel, heartless people who wanted to keep them down. It was one less monster to poison the lives of others. So when Paul’s vampire instincts kicked in, he went for the kill.
The first kill permanently changed Paul. After slaughtering and drinking from his target, something wonderful happened. A smile spread across his face. A real one. The most joyful smile he’d ever experienced. He was free. He was safe. Finally, he was ready to enjoy the night as a creature that would never know pain and sorrow again.
To celebrate, Paul went absolutely WILD that night. He flew into the sky and went straight into the window of a fancy hotel, ultimately committing his first break-in with his friends. He smoked weed for the first time, loving how light and dreamy it made him feel. They all drank heavily, not holding back with the bottles of wine, beer and champagne they had. He danced naked and sang at the top of his lungs. Paul even had sex with both Marko and Dwayne for his first time, feeling overwhelmed with love for them. David in particular was very proud of him, loving the wild child that Paul had finally become.
From then on, Paul was an entirely new person. To him, his previous life was nothing. All the bad memories and fears would be lost to time and he could be his true, authentic self. He would never be alone again and he would show his gratitude to his friends by helping keep the party going. Becoming a vampire was truly the best moment of his life, and he would never look back.
Additional Facts:
Paul hated the fact that his hair was cut short as a kid. He wanted it super long, but couldn’t have it that way because it wasn’t “appropriate” for boys. The moment he became a vampire, he vowed to grow it out and never go back to his short style.
If Paul had stayed human and had children, he would have had twins as his parents did. He carries the twin gene (@auntvamp)
He doesn’t just smoke weed for the sake of fun. He also finds that it helps calm any lingering anxieties he has from his human life.
In 1950, Paul saw the movie Cinderella while his parents were away on a trip. He was absolutely enchanted by it, feeling a deep connection to the story and the idea of leaving an abusive family and finding someone who would truly love him. He loves stories with happy endings. To this day, he still hums “So This is Love” when he’s in an especially good mood.
On that note, one of his pet names for the boys is “my prince”
As a human, he was allergic to dogs. The family never had pets anyway, as his parents thought they were dirty and too much work to care for. The only reason Paul knows he’s allergic was that he had a bad reaction to his cousin’s dog during a visit one Christmas. The reason he froze around Nanook wasn’t fear of the dog, but rather fear of another reaction.
The way he treats Laddie is just like how the stranger he met treated him (the stranger called him “bud” too). He wanted to be a super cool and caring older brother for Laddie, and nothing like the ones he had.
Paul never again saw the stranger who helped him as a child. In 1979 he swore he saw a familiar face from a middle-aged man he passed on the street but wasn’t entirely sure.
He has fully embraced the passage of time and the changes that have come with each decade he’s been alive. He loved the free love of the 60s, the disco era of the 70s, and the punk movement of the 80s. In his mind, life has gotten better and better with each decade, and he’s thankful to be still young and energetic as he experiences each one.
Paul never put a label on his identity, but he finds people attractive regardless of gender. When he became a vampire, his confidence was boosted and became quite a flirt. He loves making others feel good, whether it be with sweet nothings or sexual embraces.
He absolutely hates fights. Paul often tries to back out of fights or break them up because it brings back the fear of getting hit by his parents. He believes it’s embarrassing because he thinks he’s supposed to be tough like his friends, but they don’t mind it. In fact, they consider Paul to be their voice of reason if a fight gets too bad.
When Star joined their pack, he felt an immediate connection to her. He remembered how hard it was to be lonely, so he would always try his best to get her to smile or keep her company when she needed a friend. He’s not sure if his feelings toward her are more platonic or romantic, but he’s fine with just being her friend so she’s not alone. (their interactions are inspired by events in the novel)
Paul hates being reminded of the 40s and 50s due to bad memories, but one thing he still loves is going to old-fashioned diners. They’re a safe place for him, and the food is still very comforting. If he’s ever having a bad day, one of the boys will take him on a date to one.
He’s still a little in the dark about his ADHD, but he’s much more open with stimming due to the support of his friends.
Paul is the best singer out of all the Lost Boys. He found a love for karaoke when he became a vampire.
He was rather clumsy as a human, which led to a lot of problems with his parents. He broke a lot of nice China plates due to a bad case of butter fingers. Thankfully, the boys don’t mind it.
The idea of going to the train tracks with Michael was Paul’s. He had quite the adrenaline rush the first time they all hung down from the edge.
Despite all that he’s been through in life, Paul is incredibly kind. He won’t hunt people that are polite, he is friendly with kids, holds open doors for strangers, and leaves good tips (stolen from Max, of course) for servers. If he ever spots someone with signs of self-harm marks, he’ll go out of his way to help them with something or say something sweet to brighten their day. He personally knows how much that can mean to someone who’s struggling (him being the kindest Lost Boy is also from the novel)
The leader of our Lost Boys and the first of Max's "family".
This is what David's life was when he was human.....
Born in 1885 as the only child of wheat farmers, David was brought into an impoverished and struggling world. In his early childhood, his parents faced a decline in the quality and production of the wheat they desperately tried to make. They had to downgrade significantly and could barely afford to feed themselves, let alone their son.
David had so little in his life. Nothing but his imagination to play with, a cold, gray house to call home and no friends to make due to where they lived. Life was so dull and when his parents grew angry with the struggles they faced, it also became hurtful.
His parents used their words as weapons, telling him what a burden he was on them as another mouth they had to feed. That him being alive was a mistake. Not once did he ever feel any sliver of love from his parents. He felt like a stranger in his own home.
So David took care of himself. He stayed out of their way, finding time in the early morning to travel long distances by foot to attend school. It was his saving grace, and he actually thrived when he learned how to read and write. It made him feel confident for once.
He longed to travel to new places and see the exciting things life had to offer. He could never tell his parents about his wishes, as they only saw him as potential labor for them as he got older. They would never understand. So whenever he borrowed books from the schoolhouse he went to, they were always hidden in various spots of his room. He even preferred to stay up late into the night and read his stories.
His love for the night followed him into his second life.
The older David got, the more he feared what kind of life awaited him. His parents already put him through back-breaking labor, as they had no other children or workers to help out with their duties. Every day, he was exhausted and struggling with pain. He didn’t want to die knowing he never truly got to live as he wanted. So when he was 17, he ran away from home, stealing one of the horses to sneak off into the night.
It wasn’t an easy journey, but with time and patience, David made it to the city of San Francisco in 1902. Never before had he seen anything so incredible before. It was bustling and exciting, full of shops, restaurants, entertainment, and people from far and wide. For the first time, he had a sense of hope for his future. A reason to keep going. He’d never been happier in his entire life.
David still struggled to care for himself. He lived on the streets most of the time and did a series of odd jobs where he could find them. Still, he never regretted his decision. Seeing the flashy sights of the city kept him motivated.
When he found honest work wasn’t enough, he turned to more devious ways of earning money. He became a natural pick-pocket, robbing wealthy travelers and socialites blind. The more he stole, the less he felt bad about it. After struggling to keep warm and be fed all his life, why should continue to suffer while others got to spoil themselves?
Though he thought he'd be better on his own, David found himself struggling with the loneliness that came with his new life. He yearned for someone to talk to. A companion, a friend, a lover. Anything. Every day, he wished to have someone by his side.
In late 1905, David made his way from San Francisco to Santa Carla. It was even more exciting than the previous city. There were lavish hotels and resorts that filled the city and brought in more wealthy travelers. More suckers to rob blind.
In his downtime, David loved the beach most. The sound of the waves crashing onto the sand soothed him. It felt good to be somewhere so colorful, warm, and lively, unlike the home he grew up in.
One night, he got curious and found himself in front of the Atlantis Hotel, the finest resort in all of Santa Carla. It was New Year's Eve, and he had quite a bit of cash to spend from his dirty work for the day. He had been careful about spending his money on only necessities, but for the first time, David decided to treat himself. He snuck in amongst the crowd, enjoying fine wines and treats while listening to music. He’d never felt so alive until then, finally experiencing the joys of life as he always wanted.
However, his festivities came to a halt when he was cornered by the proprietor of the establishment— Max Lawrence.
David denies this claim, but he was terrified of Max when they first met. The man was so tall and intimidating with his calm, collected personality, even when he was angry. Not to mention, when he grabbed David’s arm to get his attention, he found the man’s touch to be incredibly icy. He could feel the chill in his bones.
To his surprise, Max didn’t want trouble. He wanted to ask questions. It started off with the simple ‘why are you in my hotel when you’re not a guest?’ and ‘where did a poor-looking boy like you get that kind of money?’. David was purposely vague in his answers, not wanting to fess up to a total stranger.
But then Max started digging a little deeper. He wanted to know where David had come from and what kind of life he was running from. If he had a family that cared for him. The strangest question of all was whether David would want to live forever if given the chance.
He was thoroughly creeped out and tried to leave. The only thing that stopped him was Max’s offer to give him a room to stay in, free of charge, for as long as David desired. It certainly intrigued him, as it would be the first time in years he wouldn’t have to sleep in the gutter or in local poorhouses.
The catch? Max wanted to be an official caretaker for him.
Confused and skeptical, David asked for time to think about it. Max allowed that, giving David the key to his room. Before leaving, Max told David he could be found during the night hours. It was all so baffling, but with the desire to enjoy a bed and a warm room, David decided not to question it.
He did his best to avoid Max for a while. Something about the proprietor thoroughly creeped him out. Since Max was only busy at night, David woke up early in the morning and turned in fairly soon into the night to avoid any confrontation. The times he did bump into Max, he feared the man would demand he take on the offer. Instead, Max just asked if David had eaten or if he needed anything.
A few months went by, and David grew nervous. Max always seemed to be lurking, waiting in the shadows to strike. David sought refuge in the Resort’s library. He spent days and days lounging in the sofas and reading any book he wanted. He learned more about other countries, history, art, culture, languages, fashion, absolutely everything, and anything.
Despite living in Santa Carla, he still had the desire to see more of the world. There was so much to see and do, and he wanted to witness it all while he was still young and healthy.
And then it happened. April of 1906. The Great San Francisco Earthquake.
The ground on the Bluff split open from the force of the earthquake, creating a crack so massive, the Atlantis Hotel fell in, taking down all of its guests deep into the caves and sea below. David was one of them. He survived but was impaled through the chest on an iron spike from the infrastructure of the hotel. He was paralyzed with shock, too scared to move and make it worse, and too weak to scream for help. For hours, he was stuck like that, slowly dying with no sign of hope.
When the sun went down, a figure stepped through the rubble of the fallen resort. Even in his injured state, David could see that it was Max. Unscathed and surprisingly unbothered by the ruins of his beloved hotel. He simply called it “a bother”.
David used his dwindling strength to plead for help. Whether it was for Max to save his life or put him out of his misery, he wasn’t certain. Max had a smile on his face as he made his offer again.
“Would you like to live forever, David? Thrive and enjoy life while surviving terrible things like this? All you have to do is say ‘yes’, and I’ll help make that dream come true”
Of course, David said yes. Moments before he could take his final breath, Max forced a bottle of liquid down David’s throat. It was the last thing he remembered before blacking out.
While the rest of California was suffering the disaster, Max had freed David from the spike and had taken him away to recover in a neighboring state. For days, David’s body recovered from the injury. He was half-conscious the entire time, only remembering Max pushing him around in a wheelchair and feeding him sips of the same drink from the bottle. It was absolute hell, and each time he closed his eyes, David feared he wouldn’t wake up.
One night, when David was nearing the end of his recovery, Max sat him down, finally explaining himself. He was actually a vampire. One who had been alive for over a century. He had spent decades building up a status of wealth and success, thriving in every place he went. But the years of loneliness were catching up to him, and Max admitted he longed for a son. He explained that with David being estranged from his family, he could be like a father to him, taking him along to see the world and make the most of it all while humans suffered around them.
All David had to do was make his first kill and complete the transformation he hadn’t realized he had started.
It was all so much for him to take in. He was surprised by how grateful he was to Max for such a thing. After all, he would have died the day the Earthquake hit. His life would have been over before it even began. He would never have to know pain again. No sickness, no struggle, no death.
So when he was ready, Max took him back to the site where it all happened. David was nearly finished healing thanks to the power of Max’s blood. They traveled through the wreckage, searching for a sign of life. A survivor was found in the ruins of a cave, barely clinging to life. To this day, David doesn’t know who that person was. All he knows is that he fed on them, which ended their suffering and completed his transformation all in one go.
David was reborn that night. He was permanently made a vampire, and Max was incredibly proud. Finally, he had the son he wanted, and David was ready to live life to the fullest. He held a deep sense of gratitude to his Sire, promising to be devoted, no matter where they went. David still doesn’t see Max as his father, as the previous father figure he had was a terrible one, but he holds a sense of respect for him.
From then on, he would get to experience the world how he truly wanted to.
Additional Facts:
David was born with brown hair. When he ran away from home, he used hydrogen peroxide to make it blond. He saw it as a form of changing who he was for his fresh start. When he became a vampire, the color change was permanent. He secretly enjoys it when people say he looks undead with it. They’re technically correct.
He can’t remember his parents’ names or faces. One of the effects of vampirism is the memory loss of human life. What he does recall is the suffering he went through, and that’s enough to make him not regret his choice.
He actually goes by his middle name. David is a junior, as his first name was his father’s name. When he ran away was when he started going by “David”. He can’t remember what his first and last names were.
For several years, David's parents thought he was mute because he spoke so little. He just didn't have anything to say, nor did he want to speak to them. He was much more talkative in school.
One of his favorite activities was horseback riding. He loved the wind on his face and the rush of going fast. When he got his first motorcycle years into his vampire life, he felt the same rush, choosing it as his go-to transportation when he’s not flying.
Speaking of motorcycles, the Triumph motorcycle was invented the same year he was born. Technically, he's as old as the bike he rides.
His favorite power is hallucinations. He has excellent control over it, creating physical sensations along with visual changes. The others have called him a magician for how good he is.
Max gave him a cigar on New Year's Eve when they met. It was the first time he ever smoked, and he’s been hooked on it ever since. It makes him feel mature and distinguished.
In life, David constantly had a bad cough. His parents never took care of him, just telling him to "knock it off". He actually had asthma, which went untreated. It was cured when he became a full vampire, and he's grateful to have strong lungs again so he can smoke without issue.
The reason why he screamed “no” when Michael shoved him onto the antlers was that it brought back the trauma of the first time he “died”.
David loves causing mischief whenever he can because he knows there are no consequences to his actions. Max thinks it has spoiled him a bit.
David is secretly a hopeless romantic. Whenever he read stories about romance, he longed for someone to love him so passionately. He never had a crush as a child and he never saw his parents display affection toward one another. The first time he saw a couple kissing in public, he was astounded. Overcome with a sense of longing like never before. He promised himself that if he ever fell in love, he'd never stop showing his partner adoration and attention.
When Max first brought him to Europe, David took a variety of dance lessons. He's surprisingly graceful (thanks to the flying ability he has), and his favorite style is the Viennese waltz. At some point, he's danced with all three of the boys.
Although he is a delinquent, David actually likes it when he comes off as someone who is well-spoken or dignified. He really valued his education in life and enjoyed showing off what he knew. Though he talks very casually with slang, sometimes he’ll slip more into a mature style of speech. The others describe it as “poetic”
He has little patience for people he deems to be rude. He had enough of that in life, and now, with his power as an undead vampire, he quickly gets rid of the cruel, snobby, and obnoxious people he comes across.
In life, David’s favorite food was lobster. When he got to San Francisco, he loved getting it straight from the ocean.
Max offered to get him a hellhound for protection, but David insists he can take care of himself. The feeling got stronger for his boys, as he wants to prove he can protect them on his own.
The wheelchair Max gave him during his recovery is the same one we see in the hideout. David left it there the night he completed his transformation. When they returned to Santa Carla after decades of travel, he immediately went to find it. In a strange way, it brings him some comfort to sit in it.
He will usually only hunt people who cause problems for him first. He and his boys are like bees, they won’t attack unless you attack them first.
He met Marko in 1920, Dwayne in 1937, and Paul in 1960
David has a very warped view of what love is because of his past and how things are with Max. Despite their differences, he has always been thankful for Max giving him the gift of immortality, and in David’s mind, that’s the biggest form of love you can offer someone. If he offers it to you, that means he loves you. When Star and Michael try to go back to humanity, it breaks his heart because he sees it as them denying his love for them.
The little one of our Lost Boys and the second of Max's "family".
This is what Marko's life was when he was human.....
Marko was born in 1901 to a single mother in Rome, Italy. His father, unfortunately, died in a work-related accident shortly before he was born. His mother always told him how excited his papà was to meet him, and that in a way, he was watching over his son. Even so, Marko was perfectly happy with just his mother. He could always tell how much she missed his father, so he always tried to be there for her so she wouldn’t ever feel lonely.
They lived in a poor neighborhood but had the support and friendship of their community to stay positive. Marko’s mother was a seamstress, often using a special trick of sewing beautiful patches onto old clothing to hide any damage or age. She taught him how to sew, and he became a helper in the small shop she had set up in town. His mother also tutored him, teaching him how to read, write and speak multiple languages.
Marko was an enthusiastic child. He loved to play with the neighbor kids in his spare time, his favorite game being hide-and-seek. Though he sometimes played dirty by using his athletic abilities to climb onto high buildings or run a far enough distance to make it difficult to find before the others. Even his friends called him “a dirty cheater”.
He could also stir up quite a bit of trouble. Marko was a prankster, often finding ways to scare his mother’s customers and his friends. Sometimes it was with spiders and bugs he caught outside. Other times he would steal their belongings and put them some place silly for them to find. No matter how many times his mother scolded him, Marko still enjoyed being a little rascal.
One thing he also adored was watching artists in the street paint pictures. He thought what they did was pure magic, moving their brushes with grace and creating something truly unique. He longed to do the same and make his own art. Though they didn’t have much, Marko was given a small allowance every week, which he saved up for a small paint set and a couple of canvases. The first picture he ever painted was of a flock of pigeons outside their home.
As he got a little older, he was given the chance to help out his mother with cooking and learn all her recipes. He always adored her cooking and begged to know her secrets. She promised him one day she would share her recipes, but unfortunately, that day never came.
When Marko was 13, an angry man stopped his mother from going into their house. He was yelling at her, insisting she had ruined one of his good shirts. She tried to calm him down and offer to fix the problem, but he took it as back-talk and attacked her. Marko had been hiding inside and witnessed the man beat his mother to death, leaving her in the streets to die before walking off as if nothing had happened.
When the man left, he ran to her, wailing terribly while hugging her body. The sounds of anguish alerted the neighbors, and several of them came to his aid. Some of them held Marko in comfort while the others helped cover and move his mother’s body. He never was quite the same after that.
Though he had the support of his community, Marko still had to grow up and take care of himself without his mother. He poured his heart and soul into his work in the shop, desperate to keep her spirit alive by doing the same special patchwork she did. Still, he was just a kid and didn’t have the skill and experience she had, so he couldn’t keep up with the orders. Not to mention, Italy was thrown into the hardship of wartime, meaning life was even more difficult. With a heavy heart, he decided to close the shop for good in 1915.
Marko was heartbroken. He was utterly alone in the world, and he had no idea what he would do. He went hungry most of the time and he felt ashamed of what life he was living. It was all a very frustrating time.
One day, he found the man who had caused him such terrible suffering. The man who murdered his mother, walking free and without care down the street.
Something in Marko snapped. He was lost in a blind rage as he carefully followed the man down an alley a few miles from his home. With his shears in hand, Marko tackled him to the ground and brutally stabbed him in the throat, face, and chest. Over and over and over again. The only word Marko spoke the entire time was “murderer”.
The body was unrecognizable by the time he was done. When Marko finally got himself to calm down, he realized he was covered head to toe in the man’s blood. He expected to go into shock. To snap out of his craze and realize the horrible crime he committed. To feel even just a small hint of guilt for what he did.
But the feeling never came. In fact, Marko loved what he had done. A wicked grin was on his face as he watched the blood drip from the shears that belonged to his departed mother. In his twisted head, he had truly avenged her. From then on, he saw violence as its own form of art, and he chased that high as he threw himself into his artwork while on the run for murder.
Marko did a little bit of everything for the sake of earning money. By day, he would try to sell paintings or sing in the streets for spare change. By night, he was far more sadistic. He would stalk the drunks that roamed around at night and either hold them up at knifepoint for money or simply kill them and steal whatever was in their pockets. It really depended on how well they cooperated.
1920 was when Marko’s journey into his second life began. After searching for someone to rob for the night, he accidentally bumped into a tourist from America. David was his name. Rather than get upset with him for not watching where he was going, David offered to get him some dinner at a nearby bistro. Marko was skeptical of the stranger, but agreed for the sake of a meal.
To his surprise, they ended up hitting it off right away. They laughed, joked, and shared stories all throughout the night, finding they had a lot in common. It was the first time in years Marko actually felt like he had a true friend. When dawn started approaching, David apologized and explained he had to leave, but asked if he could see Marko again. He happily agreed.
The next few months were truly beautiful. Marko timidly shared his painting with David, who was thoroughly impressed by his skill. He enthusiastically agreed to an offer to do a portrait of him. David had learned to dance a few years prior and the two of them danced down the streets of Italy together. Every night with David was heaven, and then things got more intimate.
Marko had developed feelings for the American boy, and one night in particular, after some wine and sweet nothings by a roaring fire, the two ended up sleeping together. David was smitten, but Marko was in love. Desperately in love. They never really put a label on their relationship, but Marko didn’t care. All he knew was that he wanted to be by David’s side forever.
Unfortunately, the bliss was spoiled when Marko started to grow incredibly sick. What started with shortness of breath turned into rapid weight loss, fever, chills, and even moments where he was coughing up blood. David was confused and scared, quickly rushing Marko to a doctor. To his despair, Marko was dying of Tuberculosis, and it was happening fast.
Both the boys were terrified. Marko wasn’t even 20, and he was going to die after just meeting the love of his life. David was reminded of his own fears of missing out on life when he was faced with death. He had finally found a true companion he cared about. So he became desperate. He asked Marko if he wanted them to be together forever. When Marko said yes, David revealed his vampire face, offering to make it happen.
Marko was incredibly weak from his illness, but he still knew what he saw was real. He believed his mother’s spirit had sent David to him as a reason to keep living.
Determined to keep Marko alive, David bit into his neck, letting his instincts take over so he could quickly turn him. It was immensely agonizing, but thankfully, Marko was so out of it that he barely noticed the pain. It took a few days for David’s blood to seep into his body and cure the illness he had. Whenever the sun was gone, David stayed right by his side.
Waking up, Marko finally felt like himself again. He was grateful to be alive, yet he still harbored the craving to kill. He thought it was nothing out of the ordinary from his own experience, but David knew it was the urge to finish the transformation. So they hunted together that night, going after a couple who threw insults at them for being two men in love. They acted brutally together, showing no mercy and making the bloodshed a painful experience.
Marko’s joy was immeasurable that night. He was so hyped up by adrenaline, bloodlust, and desire, he ended up having sex with David immediately after turning, all while their lips were still stained. David was truly happy. He finally had the thing he wanted most after years of loneliness in life and in death; someone to love forever.
When they were calmer and more comfortable with reality, David introduced Marko to his Sire, Max. To his surprise, Max was disappointed, saying as the Head Vampire, he had to give permission to turn humans into one of their kind. However, he didn’t punish David, as he simply didn’t know. He allowed his Childe to have Marko stay with them as a companion, and offered a better, less painful alternative to biting as a trigger for the change.
He gifted David the bottle that had once held his own blood. The one he fed David the night of the earthquake. It was empty, and Max advised him to fill it so that if the right time came again, there was a better way to start someone’s transformation. From then on, David took the bottle wherever they went.
Marko was ready to spend eternity by David’s side. He was deeply in love. Obsessed, even. He would do anything for David. His Sire, his savior, his lover. They would see the world together and grow their family some more.
Additional Facts:
Because he's the second of the boys to join the family, Marko acts as second-in-command to David. Whenever David needs something done, Marko will take care of it. David secretly likes having someone to order around because he never had that kind of power as a human.
Having this kind of power imbalance has made David a little more bossy, but because Marko feels he owes his life to David, he accepts his role. It's not the healthiest, but their friendship is still genuine.
Marko used to have a very thick Italian accent, but it’s disappeared over the decades. Sometimes if he gets super angry, he’ll start ranting in Italian. When he realizes what he’s doing, he’ll snap out of it and switch back. It’s a bit confusing for him.
As you can guess, Marko developed a soft spot for pigeons after the first time he painted them. He thinks they’re adorable, and always carries a pouch of bird seed for them as a snack.
His birth name is actually spelled “Marco”, as it’s the traditional spelling in Italy. He changed it to “Marko” when he came to America for the first time.
Marko is Jewish. One of the few things he remembers from his human life is the Hebrew songs his mother would sing while sewing. In the moments he adds new patches to his jacket, he finds himself humming them too.
Speaking of which, the idea for covering his jacket in patches was inspired by her. His memories are very fuzzy, so whenever people ask why he has them, he says that they’re just very meaningful to him.
He’s the only Lost Boy who has killed someone before their transformation.
He loves heavy metal music because it perfectly captures the chaotic thoughts and feelings he has.
In life and in death Marko took out the scummiest of people. The hate he's experienced makes him very protective of his loved ones and finds the only way to do so is by getting rid of others.
His favorite thing to cook when he was human was chicken cacciatore. He hasn’t made it in decades because he can’t quite remember all the steps. It doesn’t help that he never got the recipe book his mother had.
When he was still half-vampire, David warned him about the side effect of memory loss. Thankfully, Marko had a small photograph of his parents on their wedding day saved, as it was one of the few things he took with him when he fled town. He quickly wrote their names on the back of the photograph. He kept that picture safe in a frame for decades. It’s currently hidden in a locked drawer in the cave. The memories are still faded, but thanks to his picture, he knows how important they were to him.
Marko still loves to paint. He sometimes sets up his work on the boardwalk and paints portraits of families. If they’re nice to him, he doesn’t charge them for the work. If they’re rude, he increases the price.
Marko is swift to start fights. He got into them as a kid and when he got older, his rage grew stronger. If his boys are ever in trouble, he’s got their backs. One of his nicknames is “guard dog”
He wears a jacket that’s too big to hide the fact that he’s actually a bit scrawny underneath. The side effects of TB took away a lot of body fat and muscle, and it makes him feel weak to go without it.
Marko loves Paul and Dwayne and has intimate relationships with them too, often calling them “Caro mio” or “Amore”, but they’re first and foremost his best friends. He would die for them if he had to.
To this day, Marko is still secretly in love with David. His pet name of choice for the leader is “neshama sheli”, or “my soul” in Hebrew. As they let the others join their family, the passion cooled down a bit so the love could be shared equally. He knows that David deeply cares about him, but he still has deep feelings. He’s incredibly jealous of Michael because he knows how particularly fond David is of him.
Marko has a bit of a co-dependent relationship with David. He’s willing to be David’s servant, always doing what he asks and getting whatever he wants without question, whether he wants to or not. He’ll often put David’s wants and needs before his own. David thinks Marko is just being helpful, but there’s a bit of obsession tied to it.
If David ever uses flirting to lure in victims, Marko will use his own seduction after the hunt to turn David’s attention to him. If David isn’t in the mood, he’ll sneak off to slaughter a bunch of random people on the beach.
Being the true Italian that he is, Marko absolutely loves soccer (though he still calls it football). He’s a pro at it and loves to play with the others. One of the things he hates about America is their lack of respect for the sport.

TW: Poverty, Emotional Abuse (not towards Dwayne), Workaholic tendencies, Depression, Gun violence/Gunshot wound, Death
The mysterious one of our Lost Boys and the third of Max's "family".
This is what Dwayne's life was when he was human.....
Dwayne was born in 1914 on a Wyandot reservation. Even before he was born there was quite an interesting family history. His father was a first-generation American citizen, as he was the son of Puerto Rican Immigrants. While still young and adventurous, he traveled the country, eventually finding his way to Oklahoma. During a camping trip, he met a lovely woman who was a part of the local Wyandot tribe. Smitten with her, he decided to stick around longer than originally planned so they could get to know each other better.
The two of them were inseparable, sharing details about their culture and language while also having fun exploring together. They fell in love, and thankfully, her mother, a highly respected councilwoman, allowed them to be in a relationship. While he stayed to help out with the community, he also started a family with the woman he loved.
Their firstborn was Dwayne, making him their eldest child. Dwayne had three younger siblings; two sisters and a brother. The earliest memories Dwayne had in his human era were of a blissful life with his family on the reservation. One of his favorite things to do was go scavenging with the other kids, trying to find treasures or pretty objects from the woods.
Unfortunately, the happiness was spoiled one day when local authorities passed through the area. Word had gotten out that Dwayne’s parents were married, and being an interracial couple, it was illegal in that time period. Very serious threats were made, and it scared them all. Out of fear for the safety of the community and their family, Dwayne’s parents decided to pack up and move with their children. Dwayne was only 6 at the time, and he never saw his grandmother or the rest of the tribe ever again.
It was a brutal travel period. His siblings were so young and so scared about where they were going, and Dwayne himself found it hard to be brave when things seemed so unsure. His parents were optimistic for the sake of their babies. After months of traveling across the country, they finally made it to his father’s original home in New York.
Dwayne’s father had plenty of family members living in Brooklyn, as more were immigrating to America to start new lives. While his father assured him they were somewhere safe, Dwayne felt very shy and reserved in the city. Unlike back in Oklahoma, he didn’t know anyone there and the city was far more crowded and noisy. He was incredibly scared, as were his younger siblings.
Due to financial strain, they had to move into an apartment with Dwayne’s grandfather. While it was a rough start, his parents were optimistic, doing what they could to make their children feel safe and comfortable. Having a very kind grandfather certainly helped. He often told Dwayne stories of the beautiful beaches back home in Puerto Rico. How warm the sun was and how friends and family would dance and party together while the waves moved across the sand. Dwayne had never seen the ocean before, but his grandfather’s stories were an inspiration for him to do so one day.
Living next door to them was Dwayne’s extended family. While his parents went to look for work every day, his aunt would help take care of him and his siblings. She had been a teacher before moving, so he learned a lot from her. He got along well with her and all his cousins, but he never found his uncle to be very friendly. Since he always seemed to be in a bad mood, Dwayne and the other kids found it best to stay out of his way.
When Dwayne got a little older, he went to look for small jobs to help out his family as well. His parents were both factory workers, so they were quite exhausted most of the time. The stock market crash of 1929 certainly didn’t help their situation, but Dwayne was willing to take on any challenge necessary. He wanted to do whatever he could to help lift the burden, especially if it meant keeping his baby brother and sisters fed. From shoe-shining to newspaper delivering to ditch-digging, he took on anything.
One thing he did in his free time to keep up his spirits was learn how to make his own jewelry. He had picked up some tips from his grandmother back in Oklahoma, so throughout the day, he’d collect trinkets to make into bracelets and necklaces for his siblings and cousins. It was a great way for all of them to bond together. His parents were proud of his hard work, praising his kindness and love for his family.
Times were already tough, but when Dwayne was 16, they got much worse. One night during family dinner, Dwayne’s father suffered a stroke as a result of the stress he had built up from work. Despite his and his mother’s efforts, his father died, leaving the family without their beloved patriarch. Dwayne held a lot of guilt, not being able to save his dad and feeling as if he didn’t help contribute enough to supporting his family so his parents wouldn’t have so much pressure.
From then on, Dwayne had to take on his role as the new “man of the house”. His mother didn’t want him to face the pressure of looking for more work, but after losing her husband, she had slipped into a deep depression, struggling to leave the apartment. Dwayne was insistent, promising to provide for everyone so she could stay and care for herself while his aunt and grandfather helped with the younger kids.
Dwayne jumped around from job to job, finding it hard to get hired for long-term work. However, he didn’t let it keep him down. He found that being serious and strong was the best tool for getting people to hire him. Whether it was factories or construction, he made it clear he was determined to work, and it got him what he wanted. Even if he was exhausted, he wasn’t going to let his father’s death be in vain.
Eventually, Dwanye found a stable job as a mechanic at a motorcycle shop when he was 18. He found that he was quite comfortable with putting parts together and finding problems with the vehicles. He became the go-to guy, building a good reputation with regulars. People saw him as a good kid with admirable work morale. It made his family happy to see him actually enthusiastic to go to work rather than be exhausted.
Dwayne had built up a steady flow of income, saving every little penny for his younger brother and sisters. He had dreams of setting them up in college someday and wasn’t going to rest until he did so. His grandfather would occasionally slip some extra bills into the stash to help rack up the total faster. He did a lot of little things for his grandson. Patching up clothes, making his favorite meals, and having some coffee ready for the two of them to drink and chat over.
But while things seemed to be looking up, another problem arose. One day after getting home from work early, Dwayne walked in on a fight between his aunt and uncle. She had caught him trying to take the money he had saved up for his siblings, and he had gotten aggressive with her as a result.
As it turned out, he had been stealing from both Dwayne’s father and grandfather. When his father died, his uncle started looking for his savings to make up for the financial loss. The worst part was that he was only interested in using the money for himself, not his children. He apparently hadn’t even wanted them in the first place and was bitter about having them in his life.
Fed up with his loved ones facing hardship and stress, Dwayne took action. Now a strong, young man, he was able to force the man out of their apartment building, dragging him into the street and threatening to do something terrible if he didn’t leave and never come back. He refused to let his cousins be poisoned by a leech of a father and see the rest of his family be taken advantage of. He would do anything to make sure nobody hurt them ever again.
Overwhelmed with the stress and pressure of protecting his loved ones, Dwayne decided he needed a hobby. Something to take his mind off of his problems. After doing some thinking, he ultimately decided to make his work his hobby, putting in the time to actually ride a motorcycle. He picked out his own special ride and tweaked it to his liking, making it all his own to enjoy for rides. The fresh air and speed of the bike helped take the pressure off of everything in his life.
Though he found his distraction, Dwayne still carried quite a bit of exhaustion. During a drive on his motorcycle, he started to nod off while driving, causing him to veer off the road and fall into a ditch. Thankfully, two blond boys came to his rescue.
His injuries were patched up by David and Marko. They explained they met in Italy and had come back to America after traveling throughout Europe for a few years. Their caretaker, Max, still had his fortune and was attempting to find opportunities to build up the economy in New York City. Dwayne was perplexed by the boys. They spoke as if they were old men with a lifetime of experience, yet they were both so young.
Dwayne wanted to jump right back into work, but the two boys could tell he was quite burned out. Thanks to their charisma, they managed to convince him to have some fun with them. They went out to a few different jazz clubs in the city, and Dwayne had an amazing time dancing with them both.
From then on, every night after helping get his siblings and cousins to bed, Dwayne would go out and have fun with David and Marko. He felt such a strong connection with them, never wanting the fun to end. They made an offer of such when they told him they were planning to travel through Canada and a few other states next. The idea of exploring more of the world reminded Dwayne of his father, who he still missed so much.
He was so torn. They were such amazing friends and offered him a life with no worries or cares, but he felt like he had a responsibility to his family. Dwayne wasn't entirely certain what to do…until the night he learned vampires were real.
David and Marko had walked him home when he noticed his uncle was back and shouting on the street. He was threatening to get violent with his estranged wife if she didn't give him some money. Without thinking, Dwayne jumped into action, wanting to protect his family. He and his uncle got into a fight, and the latter pulled a handgun out, shooting Dwayne in the stomach in the scuffle.
He ran away, leaving Dwayne to bleed to death in the street. Marko and David stayed with him, promising not leave.
To Dwayne's surprise, his friends offered to help make the problem go away. When he said yes, they revealed their vampire faces.
Though he was frightened and confused and quickly losing blood, David soothed his mind with sweet promises of an eternal life of fun. That he could be turned and make his first kill right then and there, and his family would never be harassed again. He would be powerful, never tired or sick. All would be well.
Dwayne didn't even hesitate with his answer. He drank from the bottle David always carried in his coat, allowing the mysterious substance to heal his gunshot wound and change his body into that of an immortal being. He didn't know what he was getting into, but he trusted his new friends. He would do anything for them, and he has unfinished business with the monster that threaten his family.
With the help of the others, Dwayne hunted down where his uncle was hiding, and went in for the kill. Now half-vampire, he dragged his uncle into a darkened alley to finish him off. He snapped his neck and drank deeply. When his work was done, Dwayne tossed the body into a landfill. The job was done, and his friends were thrilled.
However, the success came with a cost. He was now a vampire, and that meant he had to be with his own kind.
He knew he had to say goodbye to his family, and it was the hardest thing he had to do. Only his grandfather was still awake at that hour, and Dwayne came to him with a heavy heart and the money he had saved up, asking him to give it all to his mother and younger siblings. His grandfather was sympathetic, telling Dwayne how much he was like his father, and he also deserved to enjoy life and be with new friends while he was still young. He thanked his grandson for taking such good care of them all.
When he was ready, Dwayne headed out with David and Marko. In his eyes, they were his family now, and he was always going to be there for them. He vowed to protect them and anyone else who would join their pack. David affectionately nicknamed him their "knight".
It would be the start of a carefree life for Dwayne. No more hardship or pain. Just fun for the rest of eternity with his beloved friends.
Additional Facts:
Dwayne was 23 when he turned. Physically, he is the oldest out of the four boys, but David is still technically the oldest since he's been alive the longest.
He and Marko are the only ones in the pack that speak multiple languages (Dwayne speaks Wyandot, English, and Spanish)
The two fangs he wears as an earring and part of his necklace used to belong to his parents. They each had one to symbolize how they were stronger together. Now Dwayne carries their strength with him.
When he lived on the reservation, their home was a longhouse. Moving into a cramped apartment was a difficult change for Dwayne. When he eventually got to see the cave, he loved it because he had gotten back the space and privacy he missed for so long.
While still getting to know them, Dwayne took Marko and David on rides on his motorcycle. They loved the rush it brought them, so he got them set up with their own rides (thanks to Max’s money). Because of his experience as a mechanic, Dwayne is the one who makes alterations and repairs on all their bikes.
He’s also the one that made all their earrings. He values his friends quite a lot and passing on his love for making jewelry as a way to symbolize their bond is something truly special.
After getting his first leather jacket, he thought it was missing something. Marko offered to use his skills and paint something on it. Dwayne picked a leopard because his grandfather’s nickname for him was “Gatito” (little cat)
When his father died and he had to look for more work, Dwayne reluctantly cut his hair so he would be taken more seriously. It broke his heart to do so, as long hair was a part of his and his mother’s identity. When he became a vampire, he vowed to never cut it short again.
Dwayne is incredibly fatherly from his experience caring for all his siblings and cousins. Though he’s more relaxed now, he still looks after his packmates like a big brother would. Whether that’s fixing something of theirs that’s broken or making sure they have someone to talk to, he’s there for them.
He hates cold weather and winter is his least favorite season. It brings hardship and struggle, not to mention he has seasonal depression. He gets super gloomy during the winter months, as there are so few people out and less fun stuff to do.
Dwayne cried tears of joy when he saw the ocean for the first time. He quickly learned how to surf and would spend as much time in the water as possible whenever he got the chance. Even though his human memories are gone, he still felt the warmth from his grandfather’s stories of Puerto Rico.
The others all secretly think Dwayne is the most attractive of their group. They never hide their affection for him and build up his confidence by telling him how handsome and alluring he is. He can still be quite shy, but when he’s feeling confident, he’ll woo them with sweet words in either Spanish or Wyandot.
Speaking of which, he has special pet names he uses in said languages. His favorite ones in Wyandot are SkahIwaha (Pretty Flower) and Agwahitsa (Doll), while his favorite ones in Spanish are Mi Vida (My Life) and Cariño (Honey/Sweetie)
When skateboarding became a thing in the late 40s and early 50s, he was eager to learn how to ride. He found that the movements were similar to surfing, and became quite the natural. The others love watching him perform tricks whenever he got the chance to do so.
He believes that his love of moving around comes from muscle memory of his human life when he was constantly busy with work. He truly does love to relax and slow down in order to enjoy life, but his body just still has the itch to keep active. The others are just grateful he’s doing it in a way to have fun, and not turning to back-breaking labor.
Unlike Marko and David who started a more intimate relationship quite fast, Dwayne took his time building up the romance with his pack mates. He loves taking them on dates and giving them presents while spending quality time with each of them. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also a very giving lover.
Dwayne firmly believes in the idea of soul mates. He thought his parents were soul mates because of how much they loved one another, and now he believes that the boys are his soul mates.
Dwayne is the muscle of the pack. He’s not looking for fights constantly, he’s just intimidating enough to make sure nobody hurts them, especially not David.
He adores Laddie because the boy is exactly like the little brother he had in his human life. Dwayne wanted children one day but never got the chance. He feels the need to care for Laddie and take him under his wing. Sometimes he’ll even call him hijo (son), because that’s what his father called him.
Dwayne loves rock and roll just like the others, but he also has an impressive collection of jazz records. Even if he doesn’t remember it, the music makes him feel the same happiness he experienced hearing it in New York.
(Dwayne being half-Latino comes from the novelization. Michael describes him as “Latin-looking”. Being half-Native comes from Billy Wirth’s own identity)
He prefers warm beverages over cold ones. His drink of choice is a cup of plain, black coffee
Dwayne is an amazing dancer, as he learned quite a bit from both cultures he grew up in. He can be a little timid about dancing, especially in front of others, but when he’s feeling brave, he’ll dance with a partner. His favorite style is bachata.
Minor pet peeve: Y'all really gotta start looking up when things are invented. I am SO happy about all the new fics in The Lost Boys fandom. Great writing, great characterization. Big fan. But oof. Guys.
There was no "putting someone on speaker". It was a landline, you either held the receiver up between the two of you, or someone picked up another receiver in the house.
Waterproof eyeliner? That was invented in 2006. 30 years after The Lost Boys.
It really only drives me wild because I was born prior to The Lost Boys coming out and I have very vivid memories of the early 90s and what life was like pre-internet and pre-cellphone.
The slang is also positively hilarious. "Cringe"??? No, that's a strictly 2020s word. People were "uncool", "weird", or the f-slur.
Fun 80s words that I distinctly remember actively being used by my older cousins: rad, gnarly, bogus, clutch, ditz, warped, to veg out, scarf down. There's a bunch out there. They just sound boring to 2026 ears because they've been around so long. They were new once.
Seriously, it's not a big deal. I just find it so funny reading 1987 vampires saying "Ugh, don't be cringe." Or someone just "looking something up". No babes, that involved a library, card catalogs, the dewey decimal system, and microfiche or microfilm. And a phone number? That was the yellow pages or the white pages. Boy was it not a good time if that book wasn't tied down to the payphone or if the pages you needed were ripped out. Best to have those numbers memorized.
Cannot begin to tell you the amount of time research over even small things has taken up in writing a fic, just to make it feel set in the world at the time. ESPECIALLY THE FASHIONS AND AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGY.
If you're writing about queer identities for a fic involving the Boys, or any fic set in the 80s (yes, looking at you, Stranger Things fans, I know we're a big crossover) then you NEED to do some research into the queer community of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It was NOT like it is today, not even close. Labels were different, flagging/markers were different. The movie was not being made for or played for a modern audience - it was made for a straight, summer horror flic audience of the mid to late 80s. The Boys are villains for a reason.
Anyway. Yeah. And research can be very fun! Go learn about the beginnings of the internet and stuff like 'phone phreaking' - it's really cool!!!
Thomas and Martha are new parents, they haven't slept in three days. Don't get him wrong, Thomas was so excited to be a dad but Baby Bruce has screamed every hour he's been home, he's pooped on Thomas, his spit up in his hair, near pulled Thomas's mustache off and peed all over his last clean shirt. So Thomas Wayne had the sexual awakening of a generation when Alfred Pennyworth showed up, with all his charm, suave sexiness, cute accent and mischievous glint in his eye, acting like such a gentleman all the time, just striding across the lawns of Wayne Manor like fucking Colin Firth in all his Pemberly slutiness, shirt billowing in the wind, pushing baby Bruce around in a pram to get him to sleep.

sometimes it’s They Would Not Fucking Get Married but sometimes it’s just They Would Not Have A Fucking Wedding. send those characters to the courthouse on a tuesday or so help me
As nice as it would be for Bruce to finally tie the knot and get married, part of me thinks that it just isn't who he is. But he believes in love, he loves romance and the man loves weddings. So if you don't believe the man throws his entire body, soul and fortune into giving his kids the most gaudy, vulgar and lavish weddings Gotham has ever seen, you simply don't know mother of the bride/groom final boss, Bruce Wayne.
Bruce, on a headset: Not fucking poppies I said fucking peonies. Who the fuck has poppies their wedding? Think about it while I handle this.
Dress designer, recovering: So Mr Wayne, the Leavers lace you wanted isn't available but-
Bruce, lowering headset: Make it available, Trudy.
Trudy, sweating: My Wayne, we can talk about the French eyelet lace-
Bruce: My mother - god rest her soul - wore handmade antique lace made by Italian nuns in a Monégasque prison for tax avoidance, my child is not walking down the aisle in eyelet lace.
Dick: Um, B, I don't think I need any-
Bruce: We are Waynes, we have standards. My mother is rolling in her grave here, people. Somebody get me the right flowers, the right centrepieces and the goddamn Leavers lace.
Jason, over his headset: Bruce, the invitations are secure.
Here is how I feel the lost boys would be as boyfriends. (Side note this is female oriented) JUST MY OPINION. Warning:adult themes.
David:
•is a massive gentleman most of all he time but if he’s pissed he will often ignore you.
• secretly loves physical affection, but only from you. He loves little hugs and touches. His love language is to hug you and care for you.
•would often have you on his lap in the caves and keeps you very close at all times, on the broad walk he has to have a hand near you or on you or he panics.
• super possessive, if anyone dares look at you he would be David’s next meal. You can never leave him or he gets angry.
•actually very caring towards you despite his aggressive nature, always makes sure you eat (both real food and blood) and sleep well.
•has to sleep near you at all times, is practically touching you as you hang.
• when you were human he took pride in playing with your mind, as a vampire he takes pride in pissing you off through games and banter.
•treats you like a trophy to the other lost boys.
•if you are ever upset at anything he will find the cause and destroy it, slowly and painfully.
•you are his precious prized possession, this can make him both soft and aggressive at the same time.
•sees a future with you as a wife, is very traditional and wants to be married before anything spicy despite immortality… but when you do he’s very passionate.
Marko
• needs parenting, spends more time being told of by you then actually being a boyfriend but it works.
•very kind and fun relationship, you spend every night having fun and laughing. You do often play fight that does turn to real physical violence.
•wants to play games on the broad walk and have fun. He will win you a huge teddy at least once a month and you have a collection at the cave.
• he loves letting you play with his hair, even letting you plait it.
• he is also very possessive over you, but does not see a future and you have had multiple break ups but always end up together.
• slightly feared by the other boys when you are together, chaos is often caused and you do have a record of arson together.
• he will often favour animals over you, but somehow you still work.
• you do many food runs together, with constant arguments of what to get.
• you have random arguments about the most random things, often dragging the other boys in to settle it. This means they are all sick of you being together but still support it.
•before you were turned he treated you like you were incompetent, after you turned he slowly feared you especially when he does something you don’t like.
•his love language is to banter with you and insult you.
•is always in the mood for spicy time and makes jokes about it and is quite rough.
Paul
• will defend you to the ends of the earth and beyond, no questions asked.
• treats you like a pet. You have to be taken care of by him and he refuses to let you look after him.
•he treats you the exact same wether you are human or vampire.
• is a gentlemen, holds doors and gives you his coat if you get cold.
• enjoys stroking your hair and having you in his arms.
• his love language is giving you gifts, jewellery and trinkets especially.
•music lover, will often play you songs that he thinks you will like or remind him of you.
• is very nonchalant about spicy time but will never say no, can be both gentle and passionate depending on the mood.
Dwayne
• wants children together after seeing how you act with laddie. Doesn’t want to be a vampire after he met you and saw what could be a future.
•before you turned he was distant and cold, after he just wanted to care for you.
• his love language is cooking and caring for you, just wants you to feel loved.
•loves being taken care of, but also loves taking care of you and that’s why you work.
•introvert vs extrovert, he is very shy despite your attempts to make him have fun. On the board walk he will often watch as you go on rides.
•he’s a completely different person when he’s with you alone then with the lost boys.
• has a love of board games and enjoys quality time over anything else.
• would never let anyone hurt you, from the second you fell in love you became his heart.
•has a tough guy act but is a big softy.
•won’t fall asleep until he knows you are safe and next you him.
•is a gentlemen as well as the others, treats you like a queen.
•would never dare touch you without permission and has weekly planned funky time where he is gentle.
so batman adopted jason at around 12ish. jason grew up in crime alley and was homeless for part of his childhood without the best access to dental care.
i think bruce spent a small fortune fixing jason's teeth when he adopted him--cleanings, cavity fillings, the whole shebang. the doctor says jason needs braces--something about crowding and bite problems and jaw strain--so bruce gets him braces too.
jason grew up thinking of dental health as a luxury, so he was great about taking care of his teeth--i mean he was religious about brushing and flossing, morning and night and between meals. he was great about hygiene in general, really.
jason never quite got over his teeth when he got his braces off, pearly white and perfectly aligned.
fast forward post-lazarus, jason's body basically got a system reset--including his teeth, crooked again but perfectly healed. jason spends a couple weeks post-pit spitting out bits of filling composite from his healed cavities.
when he gets back to gotham, he ends up at the nearest under-the-table orthodontist--the sweet older lady who helps all the immigrant kids in crime alley from an armchair in her living room and takes cash payments without asking questions. he has enough money for nice teeth now that the whole crime-lord business is off the ground, and apparently his bottom teeth are crowding and his snaggly upper canine is fucking up his bite. he gets himself a fresh new set of braces, even gets fun rainbow colored bands for the hell of it.
at one point, he gets glow-in-the-dark bands.
then the big identity reveal comes around, and jason rips off the helmet, revealing himself underneath, fully prepared to deliver his evil dramatic monologue.
except bruce is staring at him funny.
jason continues his monologue, snarling at bruce who's staring like he just grew horns because his teeth are glowing in the dark.
and bruce's head is just spinning because this is his baby boy--nevermind the fact that he's built like a brick shithouse and waving a gun around. seeing post-lazarus jason with his stupid braces reminds him too much about the little street kid he loved so much, who spent hours grinning at himself in the mirror when the braces came off.
I imagine Bruce getting hurt somehow either a really bad concussion or waking up from a coma or really strong anaesthesia and he's in a civilian hospital with Alfred at his side and he wakes up, disorientated and not quite sure what's happening but Alfred tells him that everything is fine and can he get him anything.
"Babies."
Alfred just nods, excuses himself while the doctor checks over Bruce, asking him question upon question and getting concerned because all Bruce can and will say is "...babies."
But then the hospital room gets flooded by a steady stream of people. Too many at once and the doctor protests. One big bulking unit of a guy tells the doc to knock it off.
Bruce is just surrounded by the kids, Damian and Dick tucked up beside him, Jason stood over him with a hand on his dad's hair, feeling the stitches through the bandages. Tim is practically sat on his left knee, his legs over Dick's body. Steph is sat on his legs, spooning Jell-O into her mouth. Duke is perched on the foot of the bed. Cass is stood by his head telling Jason to stop pulling at the stitches because Bruce's face might fall off. And the doctor is muttering that this isn't good for Bruce, the overstimulation will tire him out but Alfred isn't even listening because Bruce is smiling, just repeating quietly, "Babies... My babies."

Duke, moving into the Manor: Right, so what's the situation here? You know between you and the big guy? Is it like an Obi-Wan and Anakin situation or is it like an Instant Family sort of deal?
Dick, pointing to himself: Sort of son, sort of brother
Jason: Estranged son from a telenovola
Tim: Co-workers turned roommates turned father and son.
Cass: That's my dad
Damian: My mother selected him to conceive me on the basis of his intelligence, mental strength and physical prowess. She has yet to realise her error.
Steph, slipping an arm around Tim's waist, pretending to smoke the lollipop in her mouth: I defiled his third son, now I eat out of his fridge and crash on his couch and now it's been going on too long for him to be able to stop me.
I want Bruce to be more Gotham. He is a billionaire yes, he grew up outside of Gotham and went to private school but the man literally spends most of his waking hours in the city and yes, he picks up certain Gotham habits.
Bruce walking down the street after getting his morning coffee but the way back to Wayne Enterprises is blocked by police tape. Bruce just lifting it out of the way, stepping under, walking through the crime scene sipping his latte, and out the other side, slipping under the tape. A cop asks him what the hell he's doing and Bruce just spreads his hands, shrugs and goes, "Walking."
I've said it before but Bruce being so unnerved by Clark's colourful ways around saying "fuck". Clark going "gosh darn it" or "golly" or "H-E-Double Hockey Sticks" and it just sends Bruce into a different stratosphere of irritation and he eventually blows up at him yelling "just say fuck" and Clark just goes pale.
Bruce hitting up local places to grab a bite to eat or a coffee. His favourite bagel place is by Ryker Heights, that one little vendor at Robinson Park sells the best ice cream and the kids love it, the best smoothie in town after a work out he gets in Burnley.
Walking down the street and there's a Joker gas attack and there's fucking viral footage of Bruce Wayne just whipping a gas mask out of his brief case, slipping it on, picking up his briefcase and striding down the street like nothing is going.
Getting stuck in traffic and leaning out his window to tell up at somebody on a fire escape what's going on up ahead. The woman on the fire escape above yells back that it's something got to do with Mr Freeze that the tunnel ahead us blocked up. "Fucking typical, isn't it?" To which Bruce just nods, gets back in his car and joins the chorus of horns honking.
