Consuming bad media = consuming unhealthy/junk food - it's enjoyable but not enriching, and over time it will take a toll (moderation)

If you want to be individual and unique you need to LISTEN to the unique/niche things - scavenge

Form your own media diet, a lifestyle, not a fad diet (going analogue etc.) - something you can maintain that satifies YOU

Maybe you have to cut back a lot and be strict at first but once you're comfortable you can go into maintenance and re-indroduce the unhealthy foods with the hindsight of moderation

Trade Netflix, etc. for Criterion - $10.99 a month, movies, interviews, with no ads (Not available in Uk - Kanopy instead?)

Read fiction AND non-fiction. - Expand your media sources and forms (JSTOR, Apollo, magazines, books, interviews, essays, etc)

Go to museums and galleries regularly - take yourself on a little solo date, field research, investigate. - Also watch Youtubers (scorned by muses) who regularly go to contemporary galleries/exhibits etc.

Be mindful of the setting and manner of you consuming art/media - give it the respect and time and attention it deserves (split screen marketing, in bed, carelessly) normally to see art you would be in a gallery, cinema, a beautiful space, maybe even dressed up.

Buying something in print, money spent = mindful

Avoid your phone first thing in the morning - read/audiobook - substack article audiobook feature - "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" - it's slow, it's hard work but it's training a muscle; like doing my morning yoga, over time your strength, balance, flexibility and presence WILL develop, it changes how you access your reality

Mindful music listening. Dont' just mindlessley have airpods in. Dedicate time to an album like you've bought a CD or a vinyl. Pick an anthology or artist to give your attention to. - meditate on it.
