"Come on now, Auggie. If you go so big now will you not even make it in time for the countdown," Willow nudged her sister lightly. "I usually love going big after the clock strikes midnight."

"I'm not really, good at that," Alec replied. "Talking. Words don't come easy to me when it comes to my own feelings. Alec often struggled at times like these, picking between what was real and what was fueled by his depression and anxiety.
"Well, that's why I find talking about it helps. Because I'm known for my... flare for the dramatic if you will, so telling someone my thoughts and what happened, helps me figure out how much I'm exaggerating," Auggie explained, "However, I understand if you don't want to talk about it. You've probably got other people to talk through it with anyway."
"Well I can definitely help you with the financial part," Maggie said. "However, you're on your own with the Dad part, I can't force you. But you're a good daughter, what Mom did, that's not on you Auggie. I'm horribly pissed at her about it still, but I will be pissed at Dad if he's holding anything against you. You were a kid, you're still pretty young, you should have never been put into that position."
"I don't need help with any of it. They are definitely things I need to do myself," Auggie replied, "I am a grown woman and I need to start acting like it, right?"
"No, no, just..." Alec wasn't sure what he had been doing, why he was pushing himself like this again. He knew, but he also rationally knew it wasn't good. "I'm just working through something. Dancing, it helps." Alec paused, knowing that while it helped him sort his thoughts, it didn't help other things. "Mostly."
"I see," Auggie replied, nodding, "Yeah, that makes sense. You know, I've also heard that sometimes talking can help work through things," she continued, "You know, I'm here if you need it. I'm hoping you're not just my boss and we are also friends."

"Well clearly barely use is not true because here I am, planning to use it," Auggie replied, "Why don't you put your stuff up there? I don't need your stuff."
"I know you're sort of joking but the fact that you so badly want to be hard-working shows an effort in itself. It's genuine and admirable," Axel told her with a small smile. "I'm sure you do."
"Thank you, Axel," Auggie replied with a bright smile, "I appreciate you saying that. Makes me feel like my efforts aren't going unnoticed."
"We should get you some water and something to settle in your stomach. Maybe some crackers or we could go for some chips and ketchup? I don't treat myself to them very often but this does feel like a special occasion."
"I'm craving something sweet. Do you think there's cupcakes or something around?" Auggie asked, looking around, "I guess chips would be okay but cupcakes would be better."

Alec had been overworking himself since his fight with Gale, if he could call it that. He hated the way he felt, and he hated everything about the situation. It felt like he was fifteen again, feeling so helpless and hopeless, and using dance to ignore anything. He found himself falling into an old habits, especially with the nearing of the anniversary of his mother's death. It always messed him up, and he knew he promised Jules he'd take care of himself ever since he passed out, but this year his feelings got the better of him. He spent hours in the studio, until finally his wobbly legs forced him to stop. Feeling a bit faint, he slid back against the walls, grabbing his water hoping the room could stop spinning a bit. He raised his head when he heard a noise to find Augusta, "Augusta, hi, sorry, did you have a private in here? I don't remember seeing it on the schedule."
Auggie was not snooping nor was she watching. Well... maybe she was. She had noticed Alec was dancing quite intensely and stopped just as suddenly. He had watched the man dance before but something was off. She walked into the studio but watched from the doorway, smiling when he noticed her, "Oh, no. I just wanted to check on you. Practising for something important? It was getting quite intense in here."
"Yeah, why not? I'm feeling generous today," Alessandra shrugged back. "And maybe some day you'll repay the kindness. If not to me, to somebody else."
"Repay the kindness? Sure, I doubt it'll take me very long to do that," Auggie replied with a smile, "I do like to be kind."
"I know it sounds a little crazy but the more water we drink, the more alcohol we can get away with– right?" Willow shrugged with a laugh, trying to find an argument that might convince her sister. "We should save the champagne for the countdown, no? Nothing says New Years like champagne flutes after all."
"Nuh uh, I know what you're trying to do," Auggie said, shaking her head, "There is plenty of champagne to go around and if we wait until midnight, I am having margaritas until then."
"Being allergic to men is so real," she couldn't help but laugh. "It would explain a lot but I also seem to be a masochist in that regard."
"Perks of playing for the other team. No masochism involved," Auggie replied with a chuckle, "Anyway, let me know if I need to punch the guy if sneezing on him doesn't work."
Mateo was coming around the corner when he spotted the other. He paused for a moment, "Hey, you okay?" He knitted his eyebrows together briefly. "Want me to give you a hand maybe?"
"Oh! Yes, please. Oh my god, you'd be a life safer," Auggie said, standing in front of the boxes she just dropped, "I just need to take these to the dance studio down the street. The delivery guy was so patronising and my stubborn ass told him I didn't need help," she admitted, somewhat sheepishly.
