πΉ - grab some drinks to cool off
βPretty sure we came here to cool off, but youβre making that practically impossible.β Reid drawled, voice edged with amusement. His gaze didnβt waver, even behind the dark tint of his sunglasses. βThe way youβre working that straw looks less like rehydration and more like an invitation.β
He gave a soft snort, stretching out further in his seat, long legs kicking lazily under the table. The air was warm but gentle, the stillness broken only by the light chorus of birdsong threading through the trees. Reid looked utterly at ease except for the fact that he clearly wasnβt taking his eyes off Mateo. One hand lifted to tip his sunglasses down just enough to let his stare meet Mateoβs directly, a smirk tugging at his mouth. βTell me Iβm wrong,β he added, as if daring him to try.

Mateo's lips twitched with amusement after Reid's accusations. "Sounds like somebody's seeing what they want to see," he replied, barely disguising his intentions with his words. He watched Reid shift, just as dedicated to keeping his gaze on him as the other was. "You're the one who's been looking at me since we got here. Figured I should give you something to look at," he mentioned casually before taking another slow and deliberate sip, having taken his time to get his lips around the straw again. His gaze finally flicked briefly to Reidβs mouth, then back to his eyes, holding onto his stare. βKinda hard to cool off when youβre sitting across from the reason youβre overheated,β Mateo stated simply as he stretched his own leg, brushing against Reidβs just enough to register, but not enough to be an innocent happenstance.
