hey does anybody with adhd/add have any tips on knuckling down and finishing an essay? Iām having a lot of difficulty and I have to finish it by the end of the week :(
Write super casual. Like write how you'd talk and then edit it for tone. SOO many essays got finished bc I started cursing.
What is a focus??
Can I have one? Is there a loan or something?
I believe that all ADHD people share one attention and can only use it one at a time.Ā
Itās why we canāt focus for too long.. cause we have to pass it quickly.

Hey, AD(H)D peeps: does caffeine have the same effect on you as it does on everyone else? Does it make you sleepy or give you headaches or tics?
To me, it depends on the type.Ā
Energy drinks give me ticks, coffee gives me headaches, and green tea helps me focus.
Can any autistic folk with ADHD tell me their experiences using CBD and/or THC?
We are thinking of maybe asking Gavinās doctors about trying him on some.
I think nighttime usage could help improve his sleep quality and ability to fall asleep. He gets very restless (and then frustrated) when trying to wind down or relax.
I think it could help his appetite too. He takes the half of the lowest dosage of Vyvanse for ADHD, so really not much. And he says he feels āsloppyā on days he doesnāt take his meds (and you can totally tell what days he doesnāt take them). But it does REALLY curb his appetite. He hasnāt lost weight, and is on the growth curve. But heās pretty tiny and doesnāt eat much during the day.
I think CBD could really help with some of his restless stimming too. He says sometimes he canāt stop moving, even when he doesnāt want to be moving anymore, and it hurts to keep moving but he just canāt stop.
Just wondering if this could help him vs. doctors throwing a bunch of pills at us or harmful therapies conditioning him into shit.
Feel free to comment, reblog or send me a DM.
My wife uses CBD and really it helps her a lot. Itās kinda weird bc you might not notice how much it helps until itās gone. So I can see how it would help calm stimming? However I donāt know how much it helps sleep and appetite.
As for THC, as an ADHDer who smoked WAAAY too much weed in college, it doesnt really help. It can help calm down and help appetite, but my focus plummetted. I was super single mindedĀ to a dangerous extent.
Tbh if you want my ADHD opinion, these can be dealt with separately. For sleep if ya wanna go natural chamomile could help. If that falls short, Valerian root knocks me the hell out. You can get teas, pill supplements, and if youāre lucky and have an herbalist near you, a tincture. I have no real suggestions for eating more, bc thatās a Very Doctor Problem, but for stimming Iād make sure he has truly satisfying stim toys. How does he stim? Does he chew? Flap? Rip? Companies like stimtasticĀ and blogs like @stimtoybox can help you find a good toy while supporting autistic people. Personally I have a few chew toys at home and a fidget cube at work so I can stim without being overt. Depending on his school and his comfort you might be able to have some more obvious stim toys
Of course I have a lot of followers who are autistic and adhd, so please yāall, help her out.
Thanks for the input! He has awesome stim toys that he likes. His fav is the fidget cube, so I keep one in like every room of the house, his desk at school and backpack lol. He likes those stretchy tube things too, but not big into chewing stuff.
Mostly at school he says his legs canāt stop moving and he feels like he has to walk. Part of his accommodations are that he gets ābounce breaksā so any time he feels restless, heās allowed to get up and move around, or he can leave the classroom to walk around for a minute, or he can sit on an exercise ball and bounce around for a minute. He says itās fun but sometimes it really hurts his legs and he doesnāt want to move, but feels like his body āis forcing him.ā So just wondering a way to help him calm his legs down in that sense.
Thank you for your input and the signal boost!
Well does he have access to these? I once observed in a classroom that had these bouncy bands and oh gods i love them.

Hey y'all, Iām writing a paper about the misconceptions towards adults with ADHD and I would super appreciate if you could answer this survey if that applies to you, or at least reblog this post/tag some people to spread it around some. Thank you!

I keep seeing people, especially older adults, claim that if you haveĀ āADDā, you donāt have hyperactive symptoms or that you grow out of it, which is just not true.Ā
āADDā or ADHD-PI as its now called, just means you have much more inattentive symptoms than hyperactive (hence, PI: Predominantly Inattentive).Ā
I like imagining ADHD as a spectrum, with PH on one side, PI on the other and C in the middle. For example, Iām diagnosed as PI but I still show hyperactive symptoms from time to time; I once threw a towel, down the stairs, at my sisterās friend because I was feeling quite hyper.
Hyperactive symptoms donāt have to be physical, they can be mental too, like racing thoughts.
A good analogy!
ADHD-c though gets a rep for be an even mix of both adhd-pi and adhd-ph when it is actually being able to be diagnosed with both adhd-pi AND adhd-ph.
Iām not sure how this fits into the scale - maybe just as a larger band, like almost the entire spectrum? I want it to fit though - I love this visual explanation!
