If she could, she would have slapped him just to see those stupid eyes of his from rolling in his head. Sybil hated him and if she could go back in time to stop herself from ever dating him, she would as well. Their relationship had been nothing but toxic at the best of times, and that was before he had pulled her into life with the Vipers. He was quick and she let her hand still in his grip, though the fire burning in her eyes grew brighter. Her free hand itched to just slap his stupid face. âI find that hard to believe. And Iâm not whining.â She snapped. But as he spoke in that oh so familiar voice, Sybil completely froze. Damn him, she didnât want the rush of memories of the times he used that voice on her, but they came back in a flood. Her back was rigid and her breath stilled in her throat. Times when he had used that voice had been the good parts of their relationship. She had to physically shake her head to try to rid herself of the memories. âYou donât get to do that anymore.â She finally spoke, trying to keep her voice even and her gaze hard.Â
It was nice to see that after so many years, that voice still coaxed a similar response from his ex. It was a welcome change to having her screaming and shouting in his face. She was almost tolerable to him when she stopped yelling for five minutes. Atlas took a small step forward, completely eliminating any of the remaining space between them. The night was finally getting interesting and he wanted to see how much potential it had to get even better. âYeah? Tell me, what else do I not get to do anymore?â He asked, shamelessly staring at her lips as he spoke. âDo I not get to look at you like this anymore? Or touch you like this?â He asked, the hand that wasnât keeping her in place reaching to wrap around, but not put pressure on, her throat.Â
