Atis Constant

John’s Herbert Constant ( born October 29, 1990 ) better known by his stage name Atis Constant is a Haitian musician, singer-songwriter, he gained national recognition as having been finalist of the singing competition Digicel Stars in 2010, 2011,2014, and now Constant is finalist of the singing competition "Prix Découvertes Rfi" 2016. Atis Constant began singing at the age of six, in family, church and with groups of friends. He grew up in a Christian family at Bizoton, a district of the town of Carrefour west of Port-au-Prince (Haiti). During his childhood he was more interested in football and dreamed of becoming a great Professional footballer. So he spent more than a year as a player in a local football club called AST, when he was 12 years old. However, this sport did not stop to feed his passion for music. At thirteen, after leaving the club AST, he focused a little more on music by joining a group of young singer called “The Three J’s”. Then he began to compose his own songs. After taking private guitar lessons given by his friend Pierre Rolland Belot, the young artist began seriously to sing around the neighborhood and participate in cultural activities. Nevertheless, it is in 2010 that he made his first major appearance on the Haitian music industry by participating in Digicel Stars in duo with his friend Asmath Mackendy. He then made a popularity thanks to its original composition very appreciated by the public and his ability to sing and play guitar simultaneously. A year before his participation in the Digicel Stars in 2014, he released a “video single” entitled Ti Jo & Sline. In 2014, during the competition, he published “Mizik is medikaman’m” (music is my medecin) as a “test pressing”, in collaboration with P-Jay, a famous Haitian rapper. The same year, he won the 2nd prize of a singing competition organized by the Maritime Service and navigation of Haiti (SEMANAH), to celebrate the sea day. Through his musical texts, Constant singing about patriotism, love and he sings motivational messages especially to Haitian youth. His music genre is Pop, R & B and Haitian Compas. In October 2015, he was awarded a certificate of musical education and Copyright offered by Bureau haïtien du Droit d’auteur (BHDA). The same year, Constant released her first digital album with 12 songs and entitled “Mizik is medikaman’m”. He is currently working on the next release videos of these two songs “Ayiti M ‘Prale” and “Mizik is medikaman’m”.
