If Harry Potter knew how much y'all slandered Snape he’d be furious.

I guess the whole point of the series got missed in translation here. Oh well, plenty more of him for us to hoard

Harry Potter would not have survived or made any way at all without Severus Snape. He would have died. There’s much more to his character than what’s been deemed as “abuse” and, for whatever reason, the supposed crush he had on Lily Evans, which is never said directly. I am in no way calling him a hero, because he’s still a bastard, but he was no monster. He was a man who ADMITTED to making a mistake, and pushed through all the shit Voldemort did to make sure Harry would win. He stopped caring at all about his safety, and was dedicated to making sure the Light won. Rowling wanted her fans to hate him, because it added to the experience that Harry and his friends have with Snape thoughout the series. At the end, after reviewing the memories, Harry was shown a new light. He was able to, if not forgive, then understand. By then, however, it was too late for most fans. It’s understandable why people despise him so much, and that’s fine, Snape fans are used to it; but to ignore that he was an extremely important character that really made the whole series possible, well, that would just be silly, I think. It’s okay if we still disagree, that’s how it goes with fans and non-fans, and that’s okay. But I hope you can at least admit he was a crucial character who offered all he possibly could to make up for the shit that happened. He didn’t deny he was wrong. He didn’t fight that abuse. He just tried to make up for it, and that’s all anyone, real or not, can really do to make amends
