thank you all so much for donating to jamal al-dahdouh’s campaign! every single donation has made an impact, and we have successfully raised $2,000. we spoke a bit before he went to sleep, and his money is going to be transferred to his mother’s bank account tomorrow.

i am so grateful to everyone who has donated and shared posts about jamal and his family, but this is far from the end of the road. his mother, maysaa, has raised €449 so far (around $521 usd, for my personal reference), but, in her own words,

We are trying to reach a safe country—maybe Canada, Sweden, or Belgium—to give our children a chance at a future. But leaving is expensive.

Each family member needs about $5,000 for travel, visas, housing, and starting over.

this is not taking into account the cost of basic living expenses, medication for her son mohammed’s chronic illness, or even evacuation to the north of gaza, as jamal informed me.

i am not asking for exorbitant donations from any one person, but if anyone reading this has money to spend, i urge you to donate to jamal and maysaa; if you don’t, sharing this would be highly appreciated. i’ve already been shown that this website can do amazing things, and i believe in this family’s future.

Asmaa @asmaayyad65 has been crowdfunding for her family in Gaza through gofundme, but her funds were recently frozen and she and her brother had to start from scratch. I am currently in communication with her over WhatsApp.

Her brother recently suffered a terrible injury while trying to get flour for their family. This has added both medical costs, and the extreme inflated costs of food in the Strip already

Both her old fundraiser and her brother Diyaa's fundraiser (CURRENT, further down) have been vetted through the GazaVetters sheet (#43 and #648 respectively)
