In that case, whatever she had used, and however she had used it, was concerning. Fraser didn’t agree with giving up on her own endurance for the sake of benefitting someone else, especially when things could be handled in other ways. “That’s awful of me then, for letting you use whatever you had without considering the effects of it. – But I’m still very grateful. Don’t think I could’ve tolerated that any longer.” He probably could have, so what Fraser didn’t have any more of was the patience to let it subside.

Now that the younger woman questioned the cause behind the dull ache, Fraser was quite ashamed to admit that it must have been the few too many liquors that he had emptied into his body. There was the underlying reason that made him drink till he got sick, concerning a particular person and how things ended with said person. If he remembered correctly, Astra knew that person and he didn’t think it was a good idea to bring that up now. And this was in addition to everything else that he had come across in the past few days as well, including two other people who made him the person he is now. “Just work things, and a lot of ethanol in the system. Alcohol’s terrible, in excess.” There was an obvious hesitation in his response, but Fraser had hoped that Astra didn’t catch that… His general edginess hopefully covered that up for him.

"It's okay, I promise," Astra replied at his signs of worry. "I'm fine. I'll continue to be fine." She liked helping people when she had the chance, but if she was being honest, she didn't really ever get a chance. Probably at some fault of her own, but who was to know? "I'm glad that I could help."

"Drinking, huh?" she asked curiously. "Legally I can't drink anyway, but that's okay. Don't like the taste." She was slightly curious about what work things meant, but she decided not to speak up on it. His business was his business, if it was just work business, then it was just work business. That was all. "Is that all that's bothering you, though?" she couldn't help but continue to ask again, just out of curiosity.

Darius didn’t comment when the girl rolled her eyes. She was smart, she knew how people with information liked to play with people who wanted it. However, his playful attitude was both because it was funny and to keep up a sort of normalcy between them. If either of them acted like something was wrong, it would bring attention, so Darius nodded towards the elevator. “Take a walk with me.”

She sighed as she crossed her arms begrudgingly. "Fine, fine, lets walk," she said, her words passing her lips as she began to follow his lead, uncertain of where exactly he was going with this. He better not be yanking your chain...

“My mistake.” Darius shrugged, but his smirk widened just a bit, enough to make it obvious on his usually neutral face. He always enjoyed talking to this girl, she had good questions and a demeanor that demanded someone’s full attention. Unfortunately for her, Darius was the last person she should be asking. He’s not high up or close to anyone in high positions, hell he’s not really close to anyone here. He does, however, respect her persistence. He probably has just about as much trust in STEMA as the girl in front of him and, if her constant questions are anything to go by, there’s little to no trust there at all. “Well, a lapdog doesn’t question the orders it’s given.” He said, shrugging once again, before adding on, “I do, however, have amazing hearing. And people tend to talk.”

Astra rolled her eyes. She knew what game he was playing. In this one, she was the dog and he had the bone in his hand. And, like most masters, he was going to yank her chain at any given opportunity. Although he wasn’t cruel at all, there was still something to make her question…Fine, if that was what he wanted, so be it. “What exactly did you hear, then?” She gestured at nothing, “If your hearing is as amazing as you say it is.”

“I honestly don’t know if you know him or not… But uhm… He’s a security guard and I guess that’s all I’ll tell you for now until we figure out what we really are. You can meet him eventually…. Just… I don’t think right now is a good time.” He said anxiously rubbing the back of his neck. It was always strange talking about girls and boys with Astra simply because he was pretty sure she didn’t know the right things to say whenever he was dating a guy– and then he’d go back to sleeping with women right after. But a small smile formed on his lips as he talked about the other person he has been seeing, his cheeks flushing a warm pink slightly as he glanced away from her for a brief moment before his face had gone back to his usual demeanor as she started to get curious about his sleeping patterns. He really didn’t want her to know what he saw when he slept but he had told her anyway. “My brother– my family in general I guess and now more recently the men I killed back in Bulgaria.” He said anxiously running his fingers through his hair. It felt strange to admit this out loud. “I can’t promise you I am going to sleep though. I already had an incident with someone else sleeping next to me and I completely freaked out on them.” He said rather truthfully. “I can’t promise I’m not going to do the same thing to you even if I do try to sleep.” 

“Security guard…” Astra thought about it. He…she only knew two male guards, one was an ass and one was nice. If she was being honest with herself, it could have been either. Except the one that was an ass was rarely around anyway…which meant— “THE BRIT!” Astra shouted, coming to the realization. “It’s the Brit! You’re with the Brit?” She tried to imagine it but found herself totally unable. Eugene actually letting someone in to the point of dating them? It was an insane thought. Well, maybe not insane, but, still wildly out of this world. “Awwww, you’re blushing, that is too cute!” She teased him because she knew that she could, if it were any one else, he’d probably punch them into the sun. “Was the incident with the Brit?” Astra asked curiously, “Because trust me. We’re two totally different people. I’m a good sleeping partner, you’ll see!” She could always drug him with melatonin, but she decided to hold off on that suggestion. For now.

“hey, but it wasn’t your fault, either,” jasper said, knowing that she would undoubtedly blame herself. hell, she probably h a s blamed herself all of this time. he probably would have, if the roles were reversed. actually, he knew that he would have. he would have never forgiven himself. “it’s not your fault because i did it. and i did it because i wanted to. i had to save you, i wasn’t gonna live in a world without you in it, as selfish as that is.” it was incredibly selfish, if he was really thinking about it, but still. everything was happening so quickly at the time, he had just acted on impulse, as he usually did. “why wouldn’t i be nice to you? i’ll always be nice to you.” he had always tried his best to be nice to everyone, and she was no exception when she first came to the circus. although she had been cold, and wanted nothing to do with him or anyone else, really, he had always extended a hand towards her, and he always would. “astra, you…you were – are – the love of my life. you always have been. if you would let me, i’ll always be with you.” he thought about it, then snapped his fingers together. “‘til death do we part again.”

She was instantly reminded of the first time they had met. Desperaux had been introducing her to everyone, and he was introduced to her as ‘the guy who can kill you way too easily, but he wouldn’t be able to hurt a fly’. 'Unless the fly attacked first.’ “You’re such an idiot, Jasper Luna,” Astra said, feeling tears pool in her eyes at his words. He was so kind and good and stupid, so impossibly stupid that she couldn’t help but feel the need to cry over the loss of him all over again. He was gone, really and truly gone, and now he wasn’t. She was given an extra chance, they both were. But still. She was so different from how she had been before. When she came to the circus, she had been broken. Slowly, though, he had healed her. As he leant down to kiss her, she could only hope that he could heal her again.

“I’m only snappy when I’m not in a good mood,” He advised, trying not to make eye contact with the girl. He had better things to do than chat up a storm with someone who probably didn’t want to get to know him anyways. “Wow, you sound like you know me already with all the assumptions.” He felt his energy drained with all the useless small talk. “That you are,” He stated, rolling his eyes. 

“Well, there’s something that we have in common,” Astra gave him a fake smile as she centered her feet adjacent to the punching bag. “‘Course I know you. I’ve got telepathy and I can see your aura. They’re not really assumptions.” She began to strike the punching bag, hitting it with her fists as she felt her adrenaline begin to kick in. “If you’re as bored of the conversation as you’re feeling, why don’t you keep on doing your own thing?” she got out between punches.
